So after almost 2 years its finally time to subclass. My question is what do yall think it should be, orginally I was going to sub WC now im kinda toying with a summoner class.
Yea im not sure what I want so some input would be great. I figure anything is easier to lvl than a OL.
I would think you had enough of Orc's after 2 years and try a summoner class. PS looks nice on a Orc mage and with CT2 coming I think you would like it. :D
shouldn't it be orc EATS pony? Summoners look sweet in next patch. Also the plainswalkers. I am in the same situation with my WC.....so many choices, so little time.

Since you can go with any summoner, I am not sure which one, but I know there is one that seems to have the summon person skill that is a lot quicker than the other summoners we have in the alliance.
It is the reuse skill timer I think that helps out.
I have a OL as well and can't figure out what to sub, it's gonna be a while but I want to figure it out before then. I have a question in the mean time.
What Stats get used by the sub? If I sub ES am I now treated as an elf and my stats change to that of an Elven ES? Or am I treated as an Orc ES with the same stats as my OL? Hope that's clear.
DA gets the Dark Panther right? That would be pretty cool I think - Orc with panther. How many classes get their own pets? I think the Soulless would look awesome next to an Orc.
I don't know if I'd want xp loss from pets though, but I could probably solo better than with my OL, making it a moot point.
How much is money an issue for classes with pets; how is the cost of Beast Shots compared to normal SS (per kill)?
So does it round out to about the same per kill or what?
EDIT: Let's assume top clean weapons.
not really you also have crystal cost (or food if you have a pet).
it comes down 2 if you don't have a WS to put in shop mode over night or you have things 2 sell over night...... best leave a summon class alone. It does cost 2 level them and you can't count on drops.
Actually I just meant Beast Shot cost compared to Normal SS cost, but I didn't even think of Crystals, thanks for pointing that out. Thanks for the info.

Not sure about the exact BSS costs, but last time I checked it was roughly in the range of top C or B in terms of cost per swing. I can't remember if summon SS use went up per level or not. (I think they changed that a couple times before.)
As far as the actual summon costs, at the worst you can expect to pay ~64k per hour for the grinding summon and about twice that for the party summon. (Maximum level summon.) The A grade summon is a beast though..takes about double what the party summon does. (A bit less, but with A Cry costs it's near 2x anyway.) I made a spreadsheet just to check this out a while back.
If you can't afford that kind of costs at L76+, I think you have other things you need to take care of first. Beast Shots are going to be your main expense compared to the crystal costs.
I recently pulled out my wizard (went sorc) and tried to fiddle with the summons for a few minutes (until it unsummoned). I didn't particulary care for it, just isn't my style, nor is nuker it seems. I'm running out of ideas for sub :( .
On the note of subs, what quests should I concern myself with, or where can I find info on the quests I'll need? My OL is 58 atm and I got the reagents quest from wesely. Thanks for the help so far :) .

58 is a looong way from subbing as an OL. That said however, The reagents quest is the only one you really need iirc. Not sure if you need either the Ketra or the Varka alliance for subclass, or if that's more for 3rd class. Although having it is probably a good idea either way. (Still working my WC up so my OL isn't so lonely...)
You can always sub a WC if you are happy with the OL playstyle. Otherwise a Destroyer or Gladiator might be a good choice. I avoid recommending SWS or BD, as doing their thing every 2 min isn't for everyone. A dagger sub would be my secondary suggestion.
Although both suggestions are geared more towards playstyle and not the subbed-skills you would get. Although I did read some info on those that points out the vast majority of the skills you get from that are so weak that you will hardly notice them. (Hmm..have to look that up again for myself.)
I just made 60 :) but I know full well I'm not gonna be subbing by next thursday or even within a month... I know I've got a good long while to go. I just want to know how to prepare myself for when the time comes, so anything I get on that would be appreciated :) . This is my main concern. Someone shouted "wtb demon blood" and I didn't know what it was so I asked. Someone showed me and told me about the quest and that it's needed for subbing, thus my asking about Subclass Quests, or related ones.
I've actually made a number of toons so I can, atleast somewhat, learn their style before subbing and then deciding "gee, I don't like this". The toon's I've gotten to 40+ are my Sorc, Tyrant, WC, WS (can't sub I know), BD, and currently working on a Warlord. I deleted my BD to make my Warlord because BD just isn't for me, I suspect I can say the same for SWS. I have a spoiler but I just don't like it. After playing the OL though, I REALLY want something I can solo. I haven't tried any tanks, daggers or archers yet. I did raid with the PK (pre-BD) a couple times, but other than that I never really learned the tank class, but it is interesting. Fortunately I have a long time to learn before making any decisions, but mainly my concern here is the necessary quests, directly or indirectly related to subbing. Thanks :) .
you only need demon blood for nobless quest, not for sub. all the reagents u need for subing can be obtained from the puches that drop off shamans in blazing swamp.
you can check out mimir's elixir quest on stratics to see exactly what u need.
the 2 prerequisite quests for subbing are "supplier of reagents" and "an arrogant search" but the latter you can get done in 1 day when you'll be like lvl 74.
as for sub do whatever but don't go tank, it's just as unwanted in parties as an OL, maybe even more. you'd have to be a masochist to do that to yourself.
also use the upcoming PTS to test various classes and see what suits you. no point spending time on lvling them on live and also hard to evaluate them @ lvl 40 since the skillset is nowhere near complete at that lvl for any class.
Not sure if you need either the Ketra or the Varka alliance for subclass, or if that's more for 3rd class.
u have to do varka/ketra regulary for sub quest, but thats from 74 so theres lot of time till that
anyway exping ol with wc is nice - u lack haste dw focus and he lacks better heal and zerg, when u get BD to trio its rly fast (counting with dagger or duals with crit rate ability, cuz crits is the only real dmg u get from ol/wc)
u have to do varka/ketra regulary for sub quest, but thats from 74 so theres lot of time till that
varka/ketra is for 3rd class change, has nothing to do with sub. what game have you been playing?
sub quests = "fate's whisper" + "mimir's elixir" with "supplier of reagents" and "an arrogant search" as prerequisites
stop providing ppl with bogus info if u don't know.

yea ur right sorry about that, im 74 atm and im doing all the quest so i have a bit mess in it
One question why on earth would you wanna sub WC on an OL? It's basically the same thing except the buffs. I've seen SWS and BD subs on Orcs and it's weird looking to me with them doing the Orc dance.
After hearing how bad the costs gonna be if i go Phantom Summoner when the time comes i might just go Tyrant since after all I already call every Orc mage i meet a Gladiator or Blade Dancer since majority of them carry dual swords allready as it is and when i meet a non WC it's rare.
It would be cool to see an Orc mage doing silent move though like my AW, but i have tons of time before i finalize what i want and i do know i'm one of those people that want's something rare.
I know any buffer class subb on 1 is rare i've met 1 that was an SE on his Orc mage but i can't play healers gave up on my EE in light with fists idea.
Go nuker (any), get a SE, get to 75, go noblesse forget the sub. Same equipment, same buffer needed as for main class. Why make things more complicated than they should be?
Or loose the OL and reroll.
I chose a class I hate the most in PVP - archer! Drac bow users seem to own and I haven't noticed any significant nerfs for them - rather generally things that make them even more uber in PVP.
So I'm a Hawkeye on my sub.
Have you seen the link that describes the useful skills your main gets from your sub at higher levels? May want to factor that in too.
FYI, I love nukers myself and would love to have saved money on the gear but oh well. Also, I have an SE not a prophet (seems prophets favorite choice for archers) but oh well. It's a done deal now. Maybe I'll go nuker or summoner for my next sub. Gotta earn my drac first!
Tyrant/GK would have been awesome too but WOW - they are expensive to run.

The costs for summoners have significantly decreased, due to the lower cost of crystals.
The cheapest deals I have seen , have gone after the patch
D crystal from 600 -> 375 in Dion
C crystal from 3000->2900 in Giran
If you set a buy shop, I am sure you can get even cheaper.
So the crystal cost per hout with the grind(solo) summon will cost from 8K at level 40 to 40K at 74+ levl (counting D crystal at 450 adena, which is an easily obtainable price)
Now the beastshots cost 24-26 adena each. Stock up in Giran, when the tax is low. The number of beastshots consumed per hit is increased from 1 to 3, as the summoner level increases, which means that the shot cost goes from 25 adena in C grade (where a melee character pays 3xSSC=57 adena) to 75 adena in A grade (where a melee character pays 1xSSA=130 adena) .
The cubics consume D crystals also, which are so cheap now. All in all, the Summoner is not much more costly in maintenance, plus does not need a top weapon for PvE (can level with just a low C acumen weapon up to S grade).
Now if you decide to sub as a summoner, the best for solo is PS, the best for party (especially mage) is ES with the pony buffs, and I have heard that the best for PvP is Warlock. I am PS, but all are nice to play...yet it is an acquired taste.
Do not discourage people with the older (pre-patch) costs. Actually the PvP summon costs 1 D crystal and you can farm forever without shots with it at easy green mobs... much more lucrative than fishing.
I looked, again, at the link provided by Trontzanfall and I'm not sure I'm reading it right. It says OL are enchanters, is it correct that I have to sub another enchanter class to gain the skills for the OL? I have to, for example, sub BD to gain the enchanter skills? What would happen if I subbed nuker or Tyrant? Thanks in advance.
Ol is "enchanter" type, but you can have any subclass. You'll be able to take the skill only from your type of sub. If you sub tyrant, you'll get counter haste for example. Nuker, you get mana gain as option instead. And if you sub bd, you can take celestial.
Depends only of the sub, not of the main.
I asked the wrong question, sorry, I meant to ask about the celestial skills, but you seemed to have answered my question anyway. Perhaps I'm just missing it but I can't seem to find info on the celestial skills, please point me in the right direction. If they're on the link above then I'm completely missing it and I've read it like 5 times now. (I actually thought they were called divine skills, no idea). Thanks
