New to L2

Human Classes Started Last reply 6 posts
If anyone is able to comment or give me tips from your experience. I'm new to L2 from WoW, but really like L2 for some reason so started to play today and I made a human fighter, ive watched alot of videos and Duelists look sick to me. But are they really worth it? im sure to pvp and pve from wow so any tips would help. Im looking to be a DPS that is high up there with others, first thought was an Archer, but i just cant stop watching duelists haha, havent really even thought about a caster. Anyways, any tip would be appreciated :)
Duelist is one of the strongest PVP classes in L2. notsomuch strong PVE.

my tip for you is to NOT worry about the skills you obtain from lvl 1-40. its the AFTER-40 skills you will need to focus your attention and points on.

i suggest you find a clan on the server you chose, and there should be a number of people willing to do AOE levelling (most efficient and fast style of pve in L2) and to teach you about your class.

you will progress from Fighter to Warrior at level 20 (after doing the quest) then to Gladiator at 40 (again after doing the quests) and duelist at 76 (after the quest). the class you chose hits a plateau at level 64: from there until level 76 you dont get any other interesting skills, so your grind will be very boring.

attack speed makes your skills refresh faster.

TripleSonicSlash is your most powerful skill.

using Sonic Focus gives you a "charge level" which is required to activate your sonic skills. the charges are consumed after each use of a sonic skill, and you will need to re-charge in order to use the skill again.

the class you chose is a very fun one, while being a bit difficult to juggle all the skills. Good Luck!
Thanks!
Gladiators are very costly for a new player though, better level a BH.

You have to pay for 2 swords and the combination fee, then you can risk getting +4 for the special ability from C grade dual swords and higher. from +3 to +4 they have about a 40% chance of blowing up and giving you 1/2 the crystals of the corresponding grade it's worth.

if you use soulshots, they will cost you but for a glad it'll cost you a pretty penny as they have lower damage(the glads get all their damage from their skills, a "burst" damage class if you will, but alot of damage it is) but spamming skills in PvE leaves you with an empty mp bar quickly, better to just keep on Vicious Stance.

and etc, and etc, when you get into your 60s you become a true gladiator, when you become lvl 76 and do your class chnage you become a duelist at 79 duelist (symbol of the duelist ^^)
I played a Gladi to 56 recently. I would pretty much agree with what Knight said. I used to think a 2h sword for my destro was exensive. Then I noticed, in A and B grade, a really good set of duels can run 3 - 5 times the cost of a 2h sword, and that's without any enchanting or SAs on the duals.
first welcome to L2. now, no one has mentioned this to you, but since you are coming from wow, this game is TOTALLY different than what you might have been used to.

the duelists, yes a very good pvp/pve class, but at the same time, they start to REALLY shine at end game, we are talking after LvL78, you need time investment in this game like a [censored], specially if you want to stick to one class only. gladiators, and then on to duelists, are a very fun class to play no doubt, but at the same time, complicated and expensive to play.

i'm not going to say dont play it, ofcourse, play it, its fun, its powerful, BUT later on in the game. the dedication is mosdef worth if you get to 78+

with that welcome to L2, enjoy your stay, dont get discouraged with the grind.

lastly, use this ultimate guide on how to play a gladiator, and the different setups you can have. (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=372457&an=0&page=4#Post3 72457)

good luck in your decision.
