Live GMs!

Thought you might find this amusing. After 2 years of no GMs finally got a live one! I think... Unfortunately I expected this kind of treatment.

You don't know much about customer service do you? Did you even read what he said? Its 6 pages of copy paste responses without addressing the matter or even listening to the customer. For all I know he was freaking automated. I remember back in prelude C1 Gms were actually people who listened to and assisted the customer, and every petition wasn't an autoresponse. As for being rude, if you've ever done the god awful hellbound quest, failed because of the game, and then be refused assistance, you'd probably be pretty peeved too.
They wont do [censored] but all i gotta say, after having crit errors 6 times in a row, you need to try maby a different instance to enter baylor is all im gonna say to help u
Actually that GM seems know very little about beeing helpfull. However Sagias was very rude too, so I can't really tell... OH well, I'm not worried, I don't give a horse's behind about hellbound quest, it's something for eeeeeeeeeeeend gamers anyway.
Thats was really hilarious... "Hey dude are you still here?"

its ALIVE!!!!!

so they copy - paste things even they assume to be live, why do we have live GMs ingame?
That's what you get in a globalized economy: senior Game Masters who work 5 days a week from 9 to 5 and some poor kid in Archangelsk or wherever who has never played the game at this level, never personally confronted Baylor. GMAlexander has obviously no idea what you are talking about and does not know enough English to say: "Sorry, I am just a poor exploited employee, I have never done this quest and I really can not help you." Or is there a standing order that GMs are not allowed to reveal their incompentence?

The question is, would you be willing to pay 20 Dollars a month if NCNA hired qualified personnel? And would those 20 Dollars go into hiring qualified personnel or just into the shareholders pockets?

As for the Hellbound quest, you are probably aware that in CT 2.1 there will be a very simple one-step quest which only involves some running/porting between the Wastelands and Heine? For those who can read Chinese, here is the guide:

http://lineage2.gametsg.com/index.php?view=article&k1=GRACIA&articleid=4501

But do you really want to go to Hellbound? Maybe you should first read this:

http://www2.elliebelly.net/index.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album= 21&pos=4

This is lore-style writing for role players, therefore I did not mention any levels etc., but one of those lvl 83 Junior Summoners you have to kill at the very beginning has 51,870 HP (fifty-one thosand!), and from then on it starts getting more and more interesting. Hellbound is not so much a place for end gamers but for people who have very very much experience in coordinated group warfare. A level 80+ character with maxed out equipment will be of absolutely no use if you are not in party which has been fighting together for several years. Several years.

Just take it easy, wait for CT 2.1 and have a personal look around before you commit yourself to a decade of guerilla warfare. (That's how long it took the Viet Cong to defeat the forces of evil).
Do you think that if they wanted to hire experienced personnel , wouldn't they do so ? It's not really about the 5$ per month . I do believe most of the GM's never played this game before.. I do believe they got petition client open and they alt tab every 20 minutes to check their auction in WOW ...
I remember seeing a ss in a thread in here about someone that petitioned that his buffs didn't fade when he changed his sub and he got the typical answer "feature not a bug" .
Would Alyra post us what are the requirements to become a junior GM ? Cause I really doubt it says somewhere "I 've been playin for X Years and I have accomplished X kind of stuff in game" .
It will take more than half an hour in a petition for a decision to be made on returning items to people who simply say they lagged out and lost items. However long it took to get there, in game items aren't just dished out on a whim.
You kept on asking the same questions so what more can you expect but the same answer ?
I know its a pain in the rear when the game lags out and loads of time and effort is lost but its unrealistic to expect a GM to wave his magic wand and sort it during a 30 min petition.
I'm dealing with lots of customers daily so I know what its like on both sides of the fence.

I would like to add that a GM should have a strong command of English on English language servers and scripted replies such as those used aren't very helpful, especially when they are badly translated themselves.

A simple "Sang1as, I'm sorry you and your party had problems with your quest. I am unable to help you by returning items but have passed your details on to the senior GM team."

Man, you don't understand what he is saying. And you are being rude.
If he says he is not allowed to do more than inform you then he isn't.
Normally you will get an e-mail the same day from an higher tier GM.

GMalexander rocks. he helped me twice in the past.
this from february: GMalexander (http://server.imageparadise.net/~web/image/pics/e4b3e3f0e4e44990e35815d86b1babca.jpg)

I think this is the way of it. The guy essentially just says that he has no power to help. The OP did get a bit out of hand because of it.

However, he does have a point. It seemed like a pretty simple thing to fix so why can't the frontline gm's have better training to assist or why can't these things be expedited based upon the situation.

When you have 9 people waiting around for some sort of assistance and you are told that there is nothing that can be done it can be irritating.

I do imagine that there are people who would try to take advantage of a situation and perhaps that's why the ticket has to be elevated to a higher gm.

It just seems that a gm should be able to look at a situation and be able to offer appropriate assistance without the whole thing becoming "an incident".
the major problem is that there is a surplus of gm's that aren't really gms... they just take a ticket, and the assistance is minimal.

IMO, they are like LGMs, all they can do is type... nothing more..

real gms have access to porting people around easily, if someone crashes through one of the quest and the result is they are back at the start, gming should allow one to get ported straight away to where the party is currently sitting waiting.

It's quite obvious a number of people are affected by this, and it would save time and money for a gm to just simply do it when it occurs.

I agree, quite frankly they should save a bit of money by having fewer gm's but gm's that can actually do things.

Otherwise they are just paying someone to write back and say "we've elevated your query". Heck, THAT can be automated.
Its not so much about the quest as, hey, we're paying customers, isn't these guys jobs to help thier paying customers? Is it really unreasonable to expect quick and helpful support? I mean what if this guy had this attitude face to face with a live customer?

You: Hi, my new TV broke

Retail dude: OK

You: Can you fix it?

Retail dude: No, I'm not authorized to do that

You: You sure? You just have to replace this one piece here.

Retail dude: I understand your frustration.

You: Well can I speak to someone who can fix it?

Retail dude: No, but the manager is looking into your problem.

You: OK fair enough, can I speak to him?

*Retail dude silently stares at you for 5 minutes*

Retail dude: No, hes not here.

You: OK so when will he be here?

Retail dude: I can't tell you that

You: So your telling me you can't help me with this broken TV I just bought from you?

*Retail dude silently stares at you for 10 minutes*

You: Hellooooo?

Retail dude: I can't help you, the manager is looking into it. He may or may not contact you. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

You: But i don't understand and I'm not patient! Look the piece that can fix this TV is laying right on the counter!

Retail dude: Thanks for shopping here, bye.
ROFL That was SO L2!

Haha your just adorable. Now I'm [censored], immature, rude and an idiot! Got anything else constructive to say buttercup?
i dont think sangias was rude at all. i think you people all have sticks up your [censored] if you think that. hellbound quest sucks. crashing at baylor sucks. gms should be able to do things about it
never be rude to service persons. when you are polite, understanding and patient, youll get timely service.

angry customers are always treated the worst. its the rule of thumb.

well, middle finger.

It's called "See figure 1".
Sang1as,

The simple answer is if the GMs (all of them including me) had the ability to fix your issue on the spot, they would. It is not like the petition you sent was the first one your party sent. It was one of many about the same issue. He told you the issue had been escalated and that he could not give you the crystals and that he did not know when the ticket would be answered. I understand that you are mad about losing 3-4 days worth of work. I am mad about it too. But if the answer to your questions has not changes since the last time you asked… you call it cut and paste. I call it “The answer has not changed.”

All of the agents here really want to help customers. Really. If there was a button to push or a program to run to fix you or your friends we all would do it.

First, I will explain the Hellbound issue. Second, I will explain why the GM that was talking to you, could not give you a timeline as to when you would talk me, DrSabre, or Pommo. Third I will explain why this issue is escalated instead of solved by the GM that was talking with you at the time.

As we all know the Hellbound quest instances all have 24 hour lock out timers. When a customer crashes out of the instance they are kicked out and can not get back in for 24 hours. The problem with this is that there is a series of instances where you have to get crystals and these crystals are spent to see Baylor. If you crash out while visiting Baylor, you are forced to go back to each of the 24hour lock out timed instances to get the crystals again just to see Baylor where most people have a 40% chance of getting kicked. Rinse, Wash, Repeat. Basically the crashing issue needs to be fixed, or some way to get the kicked player back in needs to be added. So far I think we have had a total of 4 people send us their crash error message so the developers can fix it. 4 out of the hundreds of crash outs across all servers.

The GM you spoke with could not give you a solid timeline as to when one of the head GMs or myself would speak with you because you were not the only person with a problem. You were queued up. In front of you was:
-A clan that is stuck as a castle defender (shields over their head and everything) So many of their clan functions are [censored].
-2 people on different servers that have had all of their quests missing for a month. Their quest logs are just blank.
-Guy sending us a screen shot showing a persons name as black and he wanted to know why. (Oh that is your bot program telling you they have a summon out, you are banned thanks for sharing.)
-28 people haxord by leet bandits who obviously stole their private information from NCsoft, then broke into the customers house or favourite net cafe and stole their items from the very same place the "hacked" customer plays.
-A clan that went over 2.1 billion adena in their clan warehouse which caused the number to flip and become 1 adena. (We then had to manually count every deposit by every clan member for a month to determine the proper amount that should be in there.)
-Did you know that if you go to Miss Queen before the Newbie Guide that you don't get your Exchange Coupons. I do now.
-Contacting the developers about fixing the petition client. (Jumbled petitions)
-Finally we had about 800 bots to check and to ban.

The reason this issue has to be escalated every time is because the 1st and 2nd tier GM can do nothing about this issue except get yelled at. (As happened here. You are not the first and not the last to get mad at the GMs about Baylor.) Why can they do nothing you say? Well there is a wild chain of events that has everyone’s hands tied. First of all, all reimbursements have to be approved by another game master. This stops crazy rogue game masters from filling the economy up with wished up +20 weapons. (It has never happened but the check is in place no matter what.) Since a reimbursement is going to happen a ticket has to be made so if any extra work has to be done to fix an issue that ticket can be bounced around from team to team, instead everyone running over to the GM you are speaking with to type in his window. But I digress. Crystals can not even be reimbursed to customer even if the GM wanted to. They are connected to Hellbound faction and reimbursing these has an adverse affect on everyone on the server. So they have to be earned again from the system not reimbursed. So why don’t we just push the button that takes away the 24 hour wait timer so you can do it again? Simple, there isn’t one. The GMs have no way of taking away the 24 hour wait timer. Why don’t you teleport the person that got kicked back into the instance? The system would just kick him out again.

So basically Hellbound needs some changes, and the GMs can not make those changes, all we can do is explain. Explaining this in petitions is not smart because no matter what you are going to be mad about it. And tying up a first responder to yell at him for an hour is not a good use of resources. That first responder had other customers they need to help that will be happy with his service.

Please understand that the GM team really wants to help customers. We spend our time on this game as if we were in your position, yet we are all still painted as robots with no souls. Unfortunately, when you are yelled at on a daily basis to fix the game like we invented the game, it becomes a little bit of a self fulfilling prophecy.

I will leave this thread open for now. If it turns into a flame fest this will be just another 8 of my paragraphs getting the deep six.

Actually, I do think he was rude. Just because your not getting what you want doesn't mean that you can act how you want. I do understand the frustration level however.

I do think he has a good point and that regardless of the quest (as he indicated, that wasn't the main point) there should be a better way to help players in game when it comes to time sensitive matters.

edit: oh, I now see spam's response. Well, there it is...

I feel your pain
Fair enough, thanks for your reply. I know its often impossible to help your customers in situations like these, but its entirely frustrating being set back weeks and knowing that you can't get help from anywhere. That, being paying customers, we can't expect the kind of support that should be expected. We just have to wait for the good graces of the L2 gods to make any headway, or any notice of when the problem may be fixed.

And this was only our first attempt at Baylor, I can only imagine what the people who have failed several times because of this must be thinking. If the problem truly can't be fixed by yourself or anyone involved with the NA team, wouldn't it be beneficial to post problems like these somewhere official so players know the quest has errors and to attempt it at the risk of losing weeks of time? Or perhaps workarounds like the one ferslicious graciously suggested.

Not ungrateful for you or your GMs work, just frustrated there doesn't seem to be any solution in sight.
@HGMSpam : *bows in respect*
I appreciate HGMSpam's response. The question I would then ask is why isn't this kind of information posted here somewhere (apart from what you just posted now) for all to see? If there are known issues with certain aspects of the game, things that come up often that are taking up GMs time, they should just direct the community to a thread that discusses the issue. The GM response would then be as simple as "This is a known issue. Please see our discussion about it here."

I would gladly help alleviate your work load and donate time to ban bots. Where do I sign up?

This is a great idea, but I can see why they would not want to do it. The key to doing it correctly and not giving the game a bad image would be how it is displayed to the community (ie you need a good writer for this).

Also - this has to be one of the best quotes from Spam:

-Guy sending us a screen shot showing a persons name as black and he wanted to know why. (Oh that is your bot program telling you they have a summon out, you are banned thanks for sharing.)

:)

Yes sometimes the GM's are irrating - God knows I have send a lot of hate mail to Spam/Alrya about the issue of messed up auto responses or GM's giving out flat out wrong info - but it is what it is and the higher teir GM actually are helpful when you can get to talk to them.
I applaud HGMSpams responce...

More of these posts are more then welcomed and are likely to keep many people not feeling ignored or at a loss of what is going on and how things are working..

i expecially like the short yet sweet details of the previous petitions that had occured....

brilliant.

wtb more ;)

As this incident on the forums is not the first, there was a lengthy discussion about how the user have to help as well, submitting your error reports and everything will help solve the problem.

And with a bit of constructive and unconstructive posts that were made in that thread, oventually some of the users HAD decided to provide some form of petition with the included errors.

Apparently, out of the number of people screaming, only a extremely small handful have submitted such errors. This is the problem that needs to be fixed.

People, you cannot ask for a fix for something that cannot be identified without you submitting the errors occuring.

HGMSpam, is it possible to have the rotating announcements on the servers?

ATM as far as i've seen the servers all annouce the same thing roughly every 2 hours (give or take not exactly sure).

Reason i ask is if you can have a different message every so often that include the "don't buy adena" to "don't bot" and maybe include additional information about reporting problems directly to the forums or via the submit a ticket via the lineageII website.

Being that baylor is likely to become one of the major parts of the end game content or is already... Perhaps a message stating the request for any crash errors to be submitted emediatley about this specific problem.

Just throwing out ideas (that you likely have already thought off perhaps)...

Also it's also very helpful to have made it clear that simply giving someone the requirement of a crystal or to port them straight away back to the locaiton needed will not solve the problem.

I couldn't stop laughing when I read that because it happens a lot in game too, you see people shouting in orange chat in populated areas asking why names are yellow or black... I bet some guy wanted to have fun with him and told him its a bug and it should be petitioned :). I know that's what I would say lol...

Spam is actually a person I wouldn't mind having as a friend (good sense of humor). Can't say the same about many others here.

So far I think we have had a total of 4 people send us their crash error message so the developers can fix it. 4 out of the hundreds of crash outs across all servers.

I wonder why spam :I .. I wonder why..
Can't help but be curious about those junior GM's though; English doesn't seem to be their native English at all. The really bad grammar/engrish make it look very unprofessional, probably causing people to say "they are cheap india people" etc. etc. You are not going to get a job as CS in my country with such a bad grasp of the main supported language, I have no doubt in the USA it's the same. Are they externally hired CS companies situated in India like Microsoft use(s/d)?

To me it's a bit sad customers are surprised by getting to talk to a GM's speaking English correctly.. It should be the other way around.

This is a great idea, but I can see why they would not want to do it. The key to doing it correctly and not giving the game a bad image would be how it is displayed to the community (ie you need a good writer for this).

Screw that just post on the log in screen in neon pink letters "Warning: GMs will not reimburse items lost due to errors in game! HA!".

Or, "Here is a list of quests that cannot be completed. We may fix them, we may not, who knows?!!"

But honestly giving a reasonble list of the limitations of some aspects of the game and of support would save both the player and the GMs an incredible amount of time.
will not is the wrong choice of words here, can not is better as certain things are hardcoded and can only be changed by the Korean dev team..

having said that I bet the GM team will have added fixing this situation on their comms to the dev team..

nevertheless your last comment is absolutely true, cases like the crashes with Baylor should be listed with the request to the player base to log bugs when they experience such so they can work on fixing it aka both player base & nc soft GM/Dev team working together on making a better game ;)
I was impressed with spam's response. wow :)

-Guy sending us a screen shot showing a persons name as black and he wanted to know why. (Oh that is your bot program telling you they have a summon out, you are banned thanks for sharing.)

i got some lulz from this
That black name thingie question I heard like a few days ago in our vent from a clannie. Was hilarious really. Thank god he didnt petition it..
Black names are when you watch broadcast crystal.
Oh crap ... all my characters that ever watched some match are doomed

Nice reply Spam.
heh :)
GMAlexander is the best GM i think, i have speak with him too when i report Quest Bug :)

GMAlexander FTW ;)
The GMs we talk to, the ones that manage our petitions they're just the strainers, bullcrap filters. They rarely make decisions unless it's rudimentary issues. I haven't had that many run ins with GMs so maybe I shouldn't say too much, but I imagine all they're there for is to make sure the right department get the right stuff forwarded to them. In this case Alexander just made sure this was something he couldn't solve and forwarded it to senior GM so they can ignore it :)

[censored] [censored] [censored] - no use quoting all of this info

+1

good post and good use of resources. Maybe sticky this post in a customer help area or something.
There been a couple times when GMs helped me live.

C2 when we first siege innadril two mid tier or higher? not sure were on siege ground teleporting the guards stuck into the walls onto the ground and rezzing people getting killed by guards past max distance.

C3 when I had my account restored and Pomono? and Spam helped fix my inventory.

C4 when my baby pet died and i crashed. It disappeared but I still had the bell couldn't summon it or target it. Apparently it fell through the world or something the gm teleported it next to me so i could rez it.

C3 when my clan hall bid for my rune clan hall was all messed up live gms and senior gms were looking into because many clans on many servers were worried.

Im my experience and I have had a long relationship with my many of the CM and HGMSpam and Omega, I understand how tough it is and besides our basic everyday compliants of bots and ebayers the major problems that they can correct they are very quick in helping the player base.

It is easy for us to get frustrated but that is also a sign that we really enjoy this game and put a lot of effort into it, and the GMs do the same many if not all them also play this game so they understand our frustrations.
Terrible customer service compared to other MMO's. The funny thing is L2 and L1 are the only thing really carrying NC and yet the Korean company will not at any cost give NA/EU an inch as far as service, great business model.

If you crash out while visiting Baylor, you are forced to go back to each of the 24hour lock out timed instances to get the crystals again just to see Baylor where most people have a 40% chance of getting kicked . Rinse, Wash, Repeat. Basically the crashing issue needs to be fixed, or some way to get the kicked player back in needs to be added.

I have highlighted everything incorrect in red for you to review because you obviously do have Misinformation about the Hellbound quest with your responses HGMSPAM, not meaning any disrespect but you make a huge post with errors in it everywhere.
Firstly, I will clear them up for you so we can advance with this issue in the game. If you are in the Hellbound Instances for the 3 BEFORE Baylor, and you crash, you can re-enter, even if on the boss, but only for 2 of them, can you run TO the door and recieve the crystal (cant get in to fight but sws/bd can still sing/dance and u will get it just if u stand close to door/wall), i believe you cannot with the red one, but i could be wrong with that. Baylor is the only one you cannot re-enter within the time period

Secondly. You state that that these crsytals are spent to see baylor and have to redo them, that is not true, only 1 crystal is randomly taken.

3rd. I would advise that you recommend Everyone trys to pass Hellbound through the Tears Boss instance. I have had crit erros every time through the Darnal instance, it is a bug with this one, it is FAR bigger and laggier area than the Tears instance, and this makes sense that it would be laggier.

4 out of 4 times ive heard people go through Tears instance to get to hellbound recently with no crashs.

I hope this helps!
Other thing that could be suggested is like has been fixed with the Frintezza raid, give the person who critted out a window of a few minuts to relog before the raid/instance auto-kicks them out. This has saved many a headache with Frint.
Shic you have no idea how much complaining that took as they had it changed to a no relog zone awhile back so yes that's possible just don't expect it to happen overnight

btw Ferst is right on doing it throu Tears as that's how we have done it all the time without any significant crashes (only 1 guy had it happen sofar) just no way I would tell that to a wartag :P
HGMspam a wartag? NO!

HGMspam, how could you do this to me? I'm in so much pain from the laughter, it just won't stop!

Im your only wartag in hellbound so i think your ok :P

Tamada gets back from florida holiday this week so time to take our other buffs through, bet we can get it done in 4 days though easy :) hopefully
Because he just loves doing things like that to us.
Well done HGM. Every post by you or another GM boosts the confidence the community has in you.
Try to find more time to post just for a morality boost. :)

Ah, that explains it. many months ago when i was levelling my summoner someone asked me why my name was black,
"are you a GM, your name is black" i think was his exact question! ;)
I told him he probably needed to reload/update his video drivers...
Sang1as is funny. lol.

the major problem is that there is a surplus of gm's that aren't really gms... they just take a ticket, and the assistance is minimal.

Heck, THAT can be automated.

maybe they got no money. not many people playing L2 now.
