I know ive said it before , but the problem has not been fixed, wtf happened to the danged LFP window...i never see any one in it..i play at all timesof the day (as u can tell from my post time) and still i have trouble finding a party with ANY of my toons...i have two C graders(a TH and Bish) 2 B toons (A sws, sorc) and two A's ( a gladi and a Ws) and still..with the varity of those toons covering the lvl range that they do i still cant find a ****ed party..sure i cn once in a while in my clan but none the less i cant find a PUG or any thing any more..

ive been playing since the launch of C3 and back then alot of people were always lfp..but it has seemed that as time goes on there are less and less wiiling to party with strangers if they even want to party at all...
my point is..what the heck happened!?!
Combination of low population and tool is kind of unintuitive.

They should simply let you flag /lfp and have a global list of all people /lfp, that can be filtered by level and class.
hey kinda do...its that lfp window...but no one uses it i think...ug....
I found some parties with this, even at 40+. On Hinde.
Maybe 'dual boxing' is the answer to your question. I mean people having 2 accounts and playing on 2 computers, not people cheating with just 1 account (this happens but it's a different matter, as this is just cheating).
Your clan is obviously pretty bad that's the reason imo.

Since there is NO obligation to play with other people, explain to me just HOW is dualboxing cheating? It's a game, I do what I do (within the limits of EULA) and HOW I like (likewise).
Make some friends, enter an active clan, do whatever there is to be done to find a party. But stop blaming dualboxing for each and every bad thing that happens to you in game.
Where did I say that dualboxing = cheating? Learn English before you react
I think the main problem is most clans only party with their clanmates along with the combination of having buff/heal pets means very little PUGs.

i agreed with this point and the problem with my clan is they dont lvl academy toons much any more and are ALL 61+...thats OK for my main and all but not the toons ive been playing lately..i was gone for 6 months or so and since i came back they havnt been as good with partys but still its more frequent than with the other toons..

at any rate the point is what happened to L2 that NO ONE is really lfp in the 40's any more :(
Well, people are always lfp in their 40s on Bartz. But they do not use the lfp tool, and by lfp what they mean is "i want to join a group to kill a raid boss or three then leave".

But Clan is the answer. Once I joined a good clan I was grouping with people my level all the time. This game has always strongly favored cooperative clan gameplay. That is a deliberate choice by NCsoft and I'm sure it will always be that way. It really stinks if you cannot find a clan that is a good fit, though. I'm sure many players just get discouraged / disinterested.
yea..i guess it is time to join another clan with the toonim playing alot...ah well...i really wish peoplewould start partying more with live players and not dual boxing...

not to fuel the fire that comment will creat but i dontlike it at all..seems to me that it kinda robs the player base of a very important part of the game.

Seriously, did anyone really use it? I recall mostly that people would shout for groups even after it was implemented.

and most people join parties in their clans or alliances.
IMO, I (and a lot of other players who've been here since OB) learned our lessons back in C1-C3 and don't want to party with random nubs anymore.

When you're partying with people you don't know, you have no idea if they're any good at their class or not. On a lower level alt or sub, that may not be a problem but on your main... you don't want to get a party going, head off into a big dungeon and then have a full party wipe because the healer sucks or because one DD is an idiot and pulls the whole room.

Another bad thing is to spend 30 minutes putting a group together, traveling to your hunting spot, etc. only to have this random person say, "oh, I gotta go!" Even if you're not doing a full party, just leaving wherever you were xping, stocking up on shots and pots, porting wherever you're going now, etc. takes a while and wastes time you could have been getting xp. If they stick around, great, but if they decide to leave 20 minutes into it and you/your party now has to port out cuz the area is too difficult without them, it's a waste. (I've had this happen more times than I can count...)

And then, of course, we have the loot issue, having to set rules before hand on what will happen if your party gets a big drop - and then hoping that everyone will follow them. It's not really that huge of a deal cuz there's not a lot of full drops anymore, but I got a full A-grade weapon drop (worth 40+ mil) just a few months ago so it is possible. Are they going to split it or SOE/log as soon as they get the drop? Another loot issue - although a moot point now, was a HUGE DEAL back in the early days - drop upon death. How many people died, dropped their weapon or armor, only to have a party member pick it up and immediately SOE and log out? Yeah, it's not an issue now, but that was a huge factor in turning the community away from random parties.

And of course, what will they do in emergency situations? If you're in a PVE clan it may not always be an issue, but I imagine even PVE clans sometimes see PVP. What will these random players you don't know do if your party is attacked? Will they fight? Will they stand there and watch you die? Will they BSOE? That BSOE question actually works for PVE too - if your party gets in a tough spot, will they BSOE to save their own hide, leaving the rest of you to die? (I had several experiences of random party members BSOEing back in the day...)

It comes down to the trust factor. A lot of us learned, through a lot of bad experiences, that you can't trust every random joe out there. It's easier to stick with people you know, or people in your clan/ally, because if something does happen and they do something stupid/bad, there's some sort of accountability there. You can talk to their clan leader. They will face consequences, whether it's having to leave clan or have their name besmirched in the ally so no one wants to party w/ them. Maybe not huge consequences, but more than a random player would.

I think this is why pick-up groups dwindled down as time wore on. That and the introduction of way too many hunting grounds for the relatively small NA population. No longer can you just go sit in the front of CT, DVC or 1st floor TOI and shout for group.

As far as why no one uses that LFG thing, I think it was introduced too late in the game. The community had always relied on shouts to find pick-up groups. In addition, by the time the LFG thing was introduced, most of us had already started internalizing our parties. Even "random pick-up groups" were not so random anymore - even if it wasn't just an ally group, the members in the parties were from clans/allies that our clans had a good relationship with. My clan may not have been allied with Clan A, but we knew their leader, partied with their members, were often on the same side in sieges and often PvPed together, etc.

I can't speak for lower level players, but I think most 76+ players will not do a random party anymore on their mains, because of any number of reasons listed above. And when leveling alts, we usually want to get them to a certain point quickly, whether it's a certain level for festivals or skills or w/e. And we usually have plenty of resources for our alts, so partying w/ random other players would be a waste (we do sometimes level up alts with our friends though, for fun.) On my sub, I probably would do a random party, because it's only mid-60s atm and death isn't that big of a deal. Nothing that drops at that level is worth that much either, so that's not really an issue. And of course drop upon death is out, so that's ok.

I know that by avoiding pick-up groups we are probably missing out on making a lot of good friends and meeting players who are good at their class, but especially when pvp comes into play, the risks of random groups outweigh the benefits.

Anyway, L2 parties are all about clans and allies now. That's just the way it is and as advanced in years as L2 is, it's probably not going to change. If you're having trouble finding parties, I agree w/ the poster who said it's because of your clan. You probably are in a small or inactive clan. If you want parties that much, either find a new clan, get your current clan into a good ally or make lots of friends and add them to your friends list.
i didnt start to use it until around C4's end and it was pretty cool then..alot of ppl used it...but for the most part ppl did shout...but even now they dont shout that much >_<

well, there are a vareity of reasons for that.

The first is that they are partying with clan and alliance. I think that is one of the biggest reasons.

The second is a bit more grim. I think the game is a bit "tired". None of the new stuff is that compelling and many people are "taking it easy". with server transfers, a new server and only a small amount of new players coming in, things are a bit "laid back" now.

Well, at least on Hindemith.
there are server transfers now o.0

WTH happened while i was gone!!!! oo the humanity!

guess its not humanity but eh....alot ahs changed and a funny thing...ive left my lfp window open ALL morning while i was grinding in Ev and finaly got a random pt with some russian guy...at least euro's ( thats my way of saying EVERY where out of us) have the *required items* to enjoy a good PUG :P

and figured id just throw it out there lmao

with me buying a home a second computer let alone a second account is DEF. not an option lmfao
Ya know, you might want to post this in the Hinde forum, since it looks like that is where you are.

I put together fairly large parties on a regular basis on my main. Little more trouble on my soon to be level 40 Warlord (TONIGHT if all goes well in my last quest) Rosamarie. Well OMG, except the one dude that wants to do RB's all the time. See me in game if you're looking for a 40+ party.
