I'm happy we finally get servers merges, but why are you joining the two smallest west coast servers to each other? Wouldn't it make more sense to try to balance the server populations by joining medium size to small?
Both Seighardt and Erica are tiny (Sieghardt <700 ppl, Erica <800 ppl, at server peak), while both Kain and Lionna are substantially larger (Kain <1400 ppl, Lionna <1200 ppl, at server peak).
If you join Erica with Sieghardt you'll be lucky to get 1500 players at server peak (and half or more will be bots). Kain and Lionna on the other hand will have over 2500 ppl at peak. There will be a huge imbalance between the servers.
It would be better to join Sieghardt to Kain and Lionna to Erica. That would make the server populations roughly equal. I fear that if you join Sieg and Erica, we'll just going to need another merge 6 months down the line.
physical server location is blocking that thou and another issue is that by putting a significant lower population onto a bigger server would put those in the underdog position which would also result in people QQing..

Please reconsider.
No one is going to be 100% happy no manner what they do with a server merge.
The Story has been Written, the Film has been Cut & Edited. Time 2 just sit back relax and watch the Show and see if it gets 2 Thumbs up or Down. Time will tell. :p

The west coast servers 1-5 are all located in the same physical location.
I also fail to see any serious underdog position. The clans and the alliances aren't that different in size. It's the number of clans on each server that are different, and it's not like one server is going to rule over the other. Clans from different servers are more likely to ally with each other and still fight their old enemies.
The QQing will be much worse if NC has to do a merge again in 6 months.
I will stay and see what happens...I have a positive feeling about these merges. The only real issue I see its with the bot/ebay clans taking the clan halls...unless NC comes up with a good idea for that
1. ncsoft doesn't do anything until even a monkey can understand if things go wrong.
2. ncsoft doesn't change or reviews schedule, that they receive from korean, because the schedules are already checked on korean servers by korean users.
3. ncsoft doesn't have any problems with any of their brilliant and massively positive events.
This really messes up those with castles, clan halls, powerful alliances etc.
Which is one of the good things about it. And besides - those with powerful alliances should have nothing to worry about. It should be easy for them to earn their castles back. =)
About OP's point - I think it is valid. Heck, you could merge those two servers with Bartz and the whole threesome would still be pretty low population. Or merge one of them with Bartz and one with one of the other new servers?
Servers must be merged from 6 to 2, not 3. 2-3k players online is still not enough for real fun, real sieges, real mass pvp, real game.
And i mean PLAYERS, not BOT'S TRAINS.
Only real mess so far i see clan halls and characters names, all others are not so big deal.
And yes, NCSoft fail - merging serwers means - people start leaving game.
I honestly think people should just sit tight, relax, and wait. This is my third post but im a vet since CB days. Chillax, wait and see before deciding. Making threats to quit wont = NC to change their minds in my opinion.
Totally agree with Tactical. Besides, NC know the quitting threats are 95% bs
I would not count on that, in fact I feel fairly certain the majority are legit and for every one threating there will be several times that leaving or already gone
I personally know 3 people who called it quits the second they read the news. They might have made a mistake leaving without giving it a chance but maybe not

Closed, Preludes and C1 here. But so really I haven't played that much hehee.. skipped the intervening 3 years because I was angry with the game and NCsoft. :(
It's gotten to the point where at least I personally don't care if people quit. If they want to be selfish and just think of themselves, then their better off not there.
Mergers are good, they are needed and I know some poeple that will come back to the game because of them. People that didn't want to transfer because it would cost too much/ they would lose too much equipment.
For those that quit, good ridance. For those that stay or come back - horray!
I would say alot more than 5% of the people threatening to quit will quit. The problem I have is the people playing this game who only create an account to complain when something doesn't go the way they want it to. If you care about this game that much then you should be a part of the community, and NO [censored] doesn't count.
How much weight do you thing anyone gives to someone who created an account on here in the last few days but claim to have played since Beta, not much IMO.
Merging is not because ppl leave the game.
It is because a lot of europeans AND russians trasfered to EURO servers.
Personally i think that merging 6 servers into 2 is better than into 3.
Totally agree with Tactical. Besides, NC know the quitting threats are 95% bs
I disagree, if 95% of those were BS, then NC wouldn't be merging the servers...they'd be adding them instead.
No he's right, 95% are bS. Real Players left long ago, when L2 didn't take the necessay measures to Keep real players. Hacks & Farmers ****** most of them off, thats' been around c2 -c3.
All those dropping server numbers are results of the "leaving suppliers" | Barrely someone's left to sell to, huh.
So yeah, it's BS, real players did get feed up looong ago, those left playing are the hard-core. They will suck it up like anything else the last 4 years. :D
Those now really cryin' and leaving are a minority, probably those who paid ;) alot for their levels. :D
Other than that, 50 less, who cares after lossing thousands ?!

.
What the ? riiight...like beeing "part of the community" contributes anything to L2. Nice daydreaming.
Someone who just registers after 3 years is as much worth to NC and the "Community" like you and me, absolutly nothing.
And since you two are paying customers, you get the same unheard voice like anyone else from Nc's side.
Ow, concerning the subject:
We need more servers merged to one. 2 Are still only a glimpse of the _massiv_ L2 world we used to be.
Totally agree with Tactical. Besides, NC know the quitting threats are 95% bs

That's a silly thing to say, for many reasons.
First of all, most subscribers leave within the first few months. This is true whether you have the best game in the world or the worst. Most subscribers just do not last that long, and it is something the industry struggles with.
Secondly, the implication that most players have quit because NCsoft merged servers has no basis in reality, at all.
Third, the truth is that many players left around C1/C2 because NCsoft was too slow to respond to server population issues - at that time, they needed more servers. They needed to respond immediately, because the game was so popular that people couldn't log in. But they didn't.
So, if anything, the lesson learned is that NCsoft's responsibility to maintain healthy server populations is very important to the game's success. This lesson teaches us that NCsoft should indeed merge servers - in fact that should probably be pursuing it more aggressively (and should have done it sooner).

Anyone with even a shred of common sense would measure every comment equally no matter the post count because it is the content of the post that matters not some asinine number beside someone's forum name

Unless of course your paying customer base does not want mergers which 55+ pages of a thread pretty much proves
That and the many who left the game in the last two nights and those who are still planning to - and do not joke yourself people are leaving because of this - ask any large clan on any of the servers - or just shout in general
Please constrain you sensationalism to the designated thread. All those pages prove is that 4 or 5 people are really upset about this, and - by some miracle - around the same time these 4 or 5 people are drumming up sensationalism, a bunch of brand new forum accounts were created, and came to make their very first post!
Please..
NCsoft can see it for what it is, and so can we. Obviously they are doing this because people have been begging them to do it for years now - it was so frequently asked for that it was considered a "dead house". Now they are responding to our needs, but a few people are upset because they don't want their status quo bubble to be punctured.
Change is good.
If you want to leave, that is your prerogative. If your only intention is to foster phoney propaganda, then frankly I hope you choose to suspend your account sooner, rather than later, because you are just embarassing yourself with this "end of the world" nonsense.
[note: for those of you who have some honest discomfort or concern about these mergers, but have conducted yourself in a mature or reasonable manner, my gripe is not with you.]

Ya right like I care what someone who just bought a toon thinks.
Will you guys get over yourselves allready? The game *FORCES* a large server population, it's not oh how cute my server is I can go camp x hunting spot and nobody bothers me, there is a crapload of content that is simply unavailable unless you have a large server population. Hellbound etc ...
Now everybody whines about something, oh my clan hall, eh my charname, bleh I ll just sit in the corner and hold my breath till ncsoft does exactly what I want (=quit threads). Reality is you need large servers, to get them compromises must be reached and someone needs to decide on what those compromises will be. Players cant decide cause we d just have 389472847837 page threads with bickering over who keeps gludin hall 3 and who gets to be called emokamael or whatever ... you need a set of rules that evens things out for everyone and that's what they are trying to do. Bottom line they cant please the 6-7k toons that are affected by the mergers on an individual basis, if you dont understand that you seriously need a reality check

Server transfers already allowed people who could afford it to transfer to a populated server. Lots of the people who stayed (or transferred a char like I did) on/to Lionna wanted to stay because it was low population. I'm not moaning, I'm pointing out to you that some people don't care that the game "needs higher population". It's all irrelvant now anyway seen as ncsoft has decided to merge them.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH.
One of the things I am learning is that very few players have ever actually seen what L2 is. They started playing after the populations were already low, and they never got to see what this game is meant to be. They have only seen a shadow of it - and they enjoy it, which is cool - but if they could see what it was like at launch.
I'm sure nobody who was playing at that time is arguing against the mergers, that's for sure. Because anyone who experienced it knows how much better it is for the game that way.
My only regret is that Bartz will be left out, and remain a Low population server (along with Devianne, and the Sieghardt/Erica hybrid, which I think will be the lowest population of all servers).
Well it's not like even Teon could catch up to those good times back then,
keep in mind more than half of the population is today boxed or automated...
Hell you couldn't even Pk someone, you kill one - 30 jump at you. Good times, really good one's.
Even the farmers had wars over space in thoes days. I saw 200+ fighting over the Wastelands for almost 2 weeks.
Now that's what I miss
I had a lot more fun fighting farmers over a place to hunt then having deal with Bots that don't care or respond to you or tehy force log off when you try train them ><

Yeah and no one cares what you think so its probably fair
But of course your opinion or theirs are not the ones that matters - its the people at NC making the decisions
My comment is still just as true as when I first posted, I will let people decide for themselves what that says about you and your comment
And stop trying to change the playing field - you said nothing about a "toon", you said an account on the boards. Of course we all know that many of these "new" accounts" are from people who have been playing for many years and are ****** about the mergers.. Sounds like to me you are having delusions of grandeur based on some pointless little number by your avatar - here is a clue for you, that number could read 1,000,000,000,000 post and it would not make you any smarter or make your opinion any more important than someones who has just made their first post.

The game sucked at launch - it is far better now. At launch you could hardly even log in and the lag was stupid.
And I have news for you, many people who played since day one are complaining about the mergers, that is a fact

Been here from day one ;)
In fact I'm one of few that has never taken more then a week break from the game or is the original owner of they account. I know a lot of people from beta that are not even the original owner of the account they are now on. I have had the same account for over 4 years non stop and has never cancel my account.
1. I Like the idea of seeing 20 clans in 6 factions fighting over a castle, not 2 Clans.
2. I Like the idea of not being able to farm Oly or getting alt clans to rule castels because others won't let me.
3. We're still to few after merges to archive point 1 and 2.
At some point more people can only lead to a healthier environment. Boters become a non factor again, cause they mess with too much people. You can't walk freely around with 20 pks. Working Karma off becomes a real pain again.
Yep given enough people around, things can only get better.
And i've got news for you awyan, most of them are only OB pretenders. :D
Did i mention that my Browser runs on 1900x1200 therefor mines bigger, i'm better than you, and my words hold more than yours ? :)

Nope that little number doesn't make me any smarter and it doesn't make my comments any more valid than anyone elses when it comes to what the Dev's decide to do with this game. Like I said before it's just my own opinion. I will always take someone who I know has been apart of this community more seriuos. I will always help actual new players who come here and ask for for help. But couldn't care less about what someone who claims to have played this game since beta, but has not bothered to even creat an acount in the community for 4 years has to say. Wether it's a valid opinion or not doesn't matter. MMO's are more than just the game it's self, it's also about the community and being involved in the community is important.
If you had been a part of the community you would understand this and be here when people claiming to have played this game and talk about thier high lvl toons ask questions about stuff anyone who has played those toons to those lvls would obviously know. So when something very important like server mergers comes out and all of a sudden there are all kinds of new account being made to complain about it is very suspicious. There are many players who have multiple accounts who don't like the server mergers. It would be very easy for them to create more account to complain to make it seem like the players base hates this idea more than they really do.
Yes alot of players are complaining, but I also wonder how many like the ide of the mergers. Unfortunatley on here it seems a majority of players only come on here when they have a complaint or don't like the changes that are being implemented which makes it seem like most players don't like the mergers.
Only a small percentage of the player base actually participate in this community on a constant basis. Those players and thier opinions are what I value most because I know they really like this game and participate in the community no matter what is going on. Wether they like it or not.
I had a lot more fun fighting farmers over a place to hunt then having deal with Bots that don't care or respond to you or tehy force log off when you try train them ><
WTB GM's actively participating in the game again. Here's an idea. You want to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt whether someone is botting? TELEPORT THEM TO THAT SPOT. And start a timer. And see how long it takes for you to get a response from them. :)
So many fun and simple solutions for them if they are given permission to take on botting in a serious way.
Wow nostalgic time. I petitioned a GM back in the day because a varnish from a mob I killed fell into a building in Ruins of Agony. The GMs responded back then. I didnt get my varnish though. He said "I am sorry, that varnish is the property of the land of Aden" I was so sad :P
funny :)
but i dont see how anyone can possibly know how many ppl are online at any given time, unless ur looking at the server connection which i doubt u can
jeez it's only been posted a gazilion times, few hundred of which in this very thread http://l2stat.gang-clan.ru/index_en.php?server_id=0
and dont ask me how they get the numbers I m gonna smack you upside the head

What I would like to know is how they get the server status so that I don't have to rely on 3rd party sites (this site) to get the server status on my site.
presumably they have a bot connect to the login server every minute and farms connection data ... the normal/light/heavy etc you see on your client when you login are actual 3000/6000 kinda data the login server sends you and your client interprets as normal/light/heavy
