RFC - Crystalize program ver. 2.0

Hello to anyone who remembers the little Crystalize (http://personalpages.tds.net/~painamplifier/Crystalize.zip) app I made some time ago.

I've decided that it's about time for me to update this thing. Not only will I be updating the data for it (S80 stuff) and re-writing it in VB.net, but I'd also like to expand on it a bit more by adding a few extra functions and info pages to make it a bit more useful.

So far other than the original crystalize part of it, I am thinking of adding parts to help with manor turn-in (calculate fruit to material amounts.) as well as a shot making helper and a page to show base material values for referance. I'm also thinking of adding a SA helper for crystal level/color as well as how many gemstones needed. Not certain yet if I will add that, although relatedly I thought about adding a Mammon Merchant guide to it in the same way. (not sure if a upgrade helper is really needed for that.)

I haven't started coding it yet, as it's still in the design phase, but I though I'd ask for comments/suggestions if anyone but me is using this thing at all.

Whether it's an interface change/suggestion or an information page or new function I'd love to get some feed back from people.
Nice aplication.
I have been thinking of making something similar for my site, but now I will abandon that idea and start to work on other things.
I like the Crystalize application! :) Shot making helper would be great too, I always have a problem with this.

Sorry, no suggestion for you.
There's already a "Shot maker" program out there. I don't know if it was updated for the new shot mats and quantities, though.

Either way, an all-in-one program would be *****en.

I'd also LOVE to have the manor part that you mentioned.
does the crystalization take into account the enchants in the armors and weps? if not would be a nice addition to the program.

Since when do enchants alter crys value? I thought the crys value was the same for a +0 weapon as it is for a +16.

+16 would have a few extra crys than +0

but as far as mammon is conserned. the extra crys from +ing are ignored

No, I haven't added any functionality to account for enchants. The program (currently) only handles 'clean' weapons. (+0)

If I had some information on what each enchant added at each + as far as crystals, I could add that to the next version though. I don't ever remember seeing that information anywhere before though.

AFAIK, it's always been that way...I forget where I first read that, but it was a note somewhere far back in the depths of things when the game was still new.

You sure about that?

From my exp that is most definitely not the case - from my exp the enchants are completely ignored during crystalization

make an excel spreadsheet, its not that hard :p
I did.

I did it that way also, to start. But Excel (and by extension the whole Office Suite) is a big memory/CPU hog. Unless you keep it 'pre-loaded' in memory the lag on start up is about the same as L2 itself!

Plus it's not exactly that 'interface friendly' when you just want to do something specific. It's fine for prototyping stuff and (natch) making spreadsheets of information. but as a tool, it's not as convenient as a specialized application.

You most definitely get extra crystals for enchanted items, but it's not that much. It's not even close to enough to pay for the enchants.

Visual Basic has a good way to compensate for that ;)
I might make a Visual Basic program that does that in the future unless I make a web-based to put on my site.
Enchants do increase the crystals you get from the item. I'm pretty sure it's +11 D crystals from each EAD, don't know about other stuff.

Apart from that, I've found a spreadsheet to be far more usable. I have managed to print the whole D/C item list onto a double-sided A4 page, complete with reference prices, so I can check instantly any offers.

Hint: If you want it in electronic form and you don't like Excel or OpenOffice, use Google Docs.
