New Forum Avatars

This is just a small thing, but we've added 100 new avatars to the forums. You are still more than welcome to use your own, of course. Enjoy!

(You may need to click through them a few times. The order in which they appear seems to change every time I look at them.)
YAY AVATARS!
Yay avatars but they don't work for me. "Error on page" is the reason.
If I see a zamboni ninja in there, I'll be very unhappy.
Also received "Error on page"
Didn't really work to just click the avatar i wanted in the list, so had to just use the link to it as the off site avatar...

Anyhow, i actually like the semi randomness, allows you to see a wider scope of em every time you reopen the chooser.
arg you stole my avatar
No, he/she didn't steal your avatar. It's still you. Close-up. :)
i like the new ones so ty ^^
i don't need an avatar :p
The avatar feature on these message boards is very buggy. First, I get "error on page" just like everyone else said. (using IE7) Then I manually found the link to the avatar and put in the URL myself (as if it were a custom one). But then I discovered in order to save those settings you have to basically go through the step of changing your password on that screen.
I'm working with our forum tech to try to determine why that error is popping up.

The password thing is a security precaution. You have to enter in your password any time you change anything in your profile.
If it helps I'm using IE7 on Vista64.

(For what its worth some of the new avatars are great!)
wtb bigger avatars

Seconded

wtb slightly higher scale-ability.

100 X 100 is really small. And the file size is not alot, its really really hard to find a image that small to make as a avatar, or even one small enough that we can scale it down a bit more in photo-shop.

maybe make it 250 X 250, and 40 Kb.
Hey Alyra, would be nice to have all class simbols as avatars, if possible some 3D rendered :)
Ok i lost my avatar :(

I hit use this avatar but it doesn't change now i have none

actually l2 is 80x80..... most forums allow up to 100 or 128 as thier dimensions..

some forums that allow anything larger typically use a 150 as the maximum width and 250 as the maximum length.

from there it's a big jump to a 250x250 image and the only next thing up is where avatars are just stupidly oversized.

i've seen on some forums 640x480 avatars... lol

160x160 (double what we have) would be good, imo. Still won't go passed that little light blue line separating our info from the post.

120x120 would be a good compromise, though!
Didn't work for me either...and I'm on IE6. Boo. :( I really wanted the one on the last page (pouts)
160x160? LOL. why not 1024x768?
the thing is..

the norm for most people resolutions today are 1280x1024 as basically the lowest and 1680x1050 as average norm.

alot of people are using 1920x1200.... it's not uncommon at all.. and it's dirt cheap now to get monitors capable of this.

resolutions on someone monitor dictates the forums appearance considerably.

right now with only ie7 covering a 1/4 of my screen, i have nearly the same viewable resolution as someone running 1280x1024..
Ya, I just lowered my resolution to 1024x768, and 160x160 avatars would definitely be too big for that. 120x120 should be just fine, though!

actually l2 is 80x80....

I know that.

wana guess what mine is?

I'll tell ya, its 100X100. does it look like its over 80 X 80?

No, its looks just like a 80 X 80. But most images I try to find are too large, and wont scale down to 80 X 80 with out completely distorting the image.

yes... it is. Right click, then hit properties.

Dimensions: 80 x 80 Pixels

The original may have been 100x100 but that's not what we see.

interesting, never did that "properties" for avatars lol.

but anyhow, 80 X 80 is too small...I want a larger avatar, one that extends all the way out to the (light) blue line.
This bug, saving your avatar has always been there.
Especially when trying to load an avatar from some url.

But I found a way that worked for me.
When I load the avatar i always get the "the server could not be found" after some loading. Just click back and press it again.
Even if the same error message occurs you still got your avatar.

Dimensions: 80 x 80 Pixels

actually it's
82px × 62px (scaled to 80px × 80px)
Yeah you let it resize out of proportions Matsumoto :p

I think they are fine like this.
what... no boobs?? /sadface
