So they say a SH is one of the best classes inGame for managing their mana (due to BtM skill). How do you use this skill during PvE for efficient levelling? Do you wait till your MP/HP is below a certain amount, then use it? (I know what the skill does, I'm just asking how you would incorporate it into levelling for the longest amount of uptime).
I use it always after killing each mob (unless Im low on HP and there's another mob attacking me). I dont wait till my MP goes down :p And btw, I always go walking! (Unless I have to run to get some MP/Emp herbs  ). If I'm with a recharger I use it too, even tho the recharger asks me politely not to. I just cant help it! =P
SH not only has BtM fully lvld, along with necros, but he has also the highest int, thus matk, so thats also the fewest hits per mob.

at lvl 5 it gives back 61 mp and eats 366 hp. thats not to bad but it isnt sth to rely on for mp regening tbh. its about 1 spell's mp back every time u use it

Don't think of body to mind as the "saving grace" of the SH. What it does is to A, increase the pool of mana over time and B, act as a way to give an influx of mana within a short amount of time.

so, I use it after each kill or every 2 kills. Now granted this in and of iself is not going to make you lvl forever.

but if you are willing to use corpse life drain along with the body to mind along with some of your other skills you will see that it will increase your lvling time.

What I mean is that if I find that I am very low on mana I will stop, do many body to mind attempts to fill up my mana. This will not only increase your mana but you will also increase the regen while you are standing there. If you take a ghp or two you will also increase it.

then you can do a Dark vortex and see how your life bar fills up (provided that these are not light blue or blue mobs).

Body to mind along with corpse life drain, ghp's, dark vortex and some herbs if you are in an herb area will keep you going for a long time. It won't exactly be "non stop" but it will suffice.

Also, it helps if you are in a group. If I am grouping i bring many ghp's. I body to mind all the time and then take the ghps. In this way I don't have to worry about not contributing. Also, a corpse life drain here or there and once again you will have more fuel for body to mind. And if you crit using a dark vortex you will practivally fill up your life bar if you are very low. You can't rely on that but it's a perk.

So think of body to mind as an engine to increase mana and your other skills + ghp + possible herbs as a way to constantly fuel that engine.
Since BtM turns HP into MP, as a general rule you want to always be generating both HP and MP. So be sure to BtM enough so that you are always at less than full HP.
I wouldn't bother using Corpse Life Drain.

HP Herbs drop too often.
U bring ghp?

I was once in party with an SE so bad that he would only heal with greater group heal.

I ran his mp dry in 5 mins (after telling him he need not heal me ever, since i vamp claw hp back).
BTM is fun. In my 50's range when playing around on a SH, I would walk around, use my MP til it was almost gone, then BTM between kills 'til my HP was low. Then CDL to death (not literally, of course..haha). If things get risky, CLD. It works well, and it's a 'blast' (lol pun intended :P ).

(CDL-curse death link, CLD-Corpse life drain)
If you got Clarity you can B2M + Heal yourself up to full MP xD
Dear god...
For pve you have 3 great hp/mp management skills, 1st being vamp claw, the second being corpselife drain and finally the b2m. After you killed a mobs, use btm, then corpselife drain to recover that lost hp back. then while that is cooling down, use hurricane and vamp claw on the mobs, and basically repeat, once you get the rythym you can hunt anywhere, of course having clarity helps too and if u hunt in the herb areas, u cna basically do this wtih no downtime Ever. Orcourse if you uses deathspke, that helps, but really after a while its kind of expensive and you tend to run out of shots. too fast, as your get into s grade its hurricane/vamp claw all the way if u got wind attc atrributes on the arcana mace.
Yup. If you have clarity and/or herbs, you should have virtually nil downtime as a SH. I certainly don't run out of MP ever unless I get REALLY unlucky and don't get any MP herb drops in 20-30 mins.

I use it all. I don't want the healer always responsible for healing me in case he/she needs his/her mp for somethign else.

If one is in a place with no healing herbs then corpse life drain. If I need to maintain I sometimes will pop a ghp and do a few body to minds.

I rarely ever run out of mp. As a matter of fact I can't remember the last time I ran our of mp and many people in party have noted this.

You use everything at your disposal or at least what feels right.

No sir - this is very wrong.
Vamp claw is a HUGE mana sink. It is neither effective as a main rotation nuke, nor a healer between BtMs. Costs too much. I only use it to save my butt, as this is how it was really intended to be used (it even has a debilitating cooldown). Hurricane is your bread and butter, and Shadow flare fills the void if you want to Over hit/ Need another nuke.

CLD can be tough to use effectively, but can help with the BtM rotation. You just have to crunch numbers and time it to where you get a net gain on mana and HP.
Vampclaw = Hurricane and corpse life drain.

U either use 2 skills to get the hp back, or one. It works out to rougly the same mp.
Dear god part2...
Iam currently lvl 82. how you play your own class is up to you. I oeed vamp claw for cost to +9, Oed corpselife drain to +9 for power, +1 b2m for power (just not worth oeing anymore then +1. At +9 to vamp claw for cost the mp is 107. My wind vortex is my main overhit and it is oed to +6 (that cost 105mp) but gives like 5k xtra xp. I use vamp claw /hurricane.b2m.corpselifedrain on mobs that are not dark resist (ketra) or wall of argos angels, i use hurricane and b2m/corpselifedrain in catas. YOu use whatever is most handy depending on where you are at the time, where herbs drop u dont have to worry about not having enough mp.If you havent got a se/ee to recharge you or give you clarity... get lots of ls 76 and try for passive clarity. I find I dont run out of mp using my method., so like i say it depends entirely on how you want to lvl. As for cdl.. i rather not use it at all if i can avoid it, why? well if it fails you are in a world of hurt, and no ididt lvl upto 82 on WoA..ketra,iop,mos,catas atm.
Imo the b2m+Vamp Claw combo is too expensive at s grade (cant turn on/off shots after each nuke), also with Seed+Windstones the dmg diff is just too big between Hurricane and dark nukes.
Very exepnsive at s grade, but at s grade you should only be using vampclaw when your hp is below half anyway, depends on whether you hunt where herbs drop or not, on iop normally 1-2shot mobs and vamp claw is useless, unless your hp is low and then its worth getting some hp back, I normally try and get at least 60% or more hp, just incase your agro more then 2 mobs that nukes( and crit). Most of the times I rather use hurricane with lvl4 weapon attributes, the damage is too great not to, hence the oeing on the vamp claw for cost, its not oed for power cos after all your main nuke is a hurricane. I also dont turn shots off when i b2m or corpselifedrain, just not practical, but when your hit S grade everything is expensive regardless, so for shots hunt in a cata for a day or 2 for s crys and craft them. (think i must haved used around 1/2 billion shots..(o.k slight exageration not by much tho from 78 to 81)...
It's funny to PvP a high level Spellhowler who then suddenly summons a silloute or a shadow

That was random....

Anyways, do you have any idea why they would summon it? There is a very good reason, so I am curious if you know.
I cant see any good reason to summon one. Pls enlighten me :)

you summon the shadow as bait. you send the shadow in and while he killing it you run away like you just saw Ricky Martin/Britney Spears in his/her under wear!
Distraction, its basically gets your attention while they nuke,ya.. (to be honest a summon will be like 1 nuke shield at the most, but they can disrupt the other caster whether it works or not i dont know i nvr have summoned one yet..

Hey i like Britny spear in her underware...(or absent of 1 my fav pron queen).
Because either they oppenent ignores the thing and goes after you while getting pounded by it, or it attacks the summon giving you free shots
I doubt any high level player bothers to kill a dark blue summon..
All good guesses... actually, it is due to the fact that vampiric claw works on servitors as it does on monsters. So it is basically a way to quickly heal oneself in the middle of combat.

wow i've never though of that... that's an idea
Have you tried using vampiric claw on dark blue mobs?

blue mobs have a much less mdef than white mobs

Thank you captain obvious....
It would work with Theca leather robes and dual swords, then you pull out your weapon and kill the unaware...

I got caught on Kain by fake newbies but the one supposed to kill me was nice and told me to run :)

Funny lol. Met a sps in oly last night on my stormscreamer. It sent its lowbie pet on me as well.

I went in to silence, it failed, and I ran around the corner, vamp clawed the pet and had enough hp left after that to try silence again, it landed and I won. :)

IMO the summon thing dont work if the other guy has vamp claw. Also, the pet is so much lower it will do nothing but miss its target.
