Question regarding server merges & names

This question was never answered in the other thread so I'm bringing it out of the 70+ page thread
....

This is a question for Alyra...

One of the people I know joined Gustin prior to the kamael update, in the update NC Soft in all it' brilliance named an NPC exactly the same thing as his in game name already is... What problems is this going to cause on the new server, cause he had the name BEFORE the NPC existed and does NOT wish to change it

I think the NPC will type it's name faster than him, he is screwed >.<

Have you ever tried making a char and naming it hte same as an NPC in game? it wont let you. Well he had this name long before the Kamael NPC of hte same name existed

Which prolly makes it gay for him to try and create a toon on another server poor guy

Let's not forget to point out that NCSoft has used player created character names in the past. They had ****** off a bunch of them back then, right?

It sounds like it could go either way. You may want to PM someone about it, or wait until after the merge and have your friend submit a support request on-line to have it changed if it does get erased.

That is of course unless his name is also a duplicate player. That could get messy. ^^;;

A player has a name.
Since Kamael came out, a shop NPC has the same name as the player.

When servers merge, it will become a duplicate name.
Will the player keep the name or the NPC ?


I think the NPC should be renamed with a Sir or Lady prefix, depending on which one it is.

If it becomes an issue after the merge I will change the character name to what it was personally.

(He's hoping it doesnt become an issue now :p)

Well it should be an issue because there are a few people out there with the same name as an npc because someone was to lame to think of something different

So could someone please tell me if my name is in any way conflicted like that?
Because there doesn't seem to be a player with that name, I already tried to rename shortly after the server came on, yet it's already taken and I had to add an "r"...

login with an alt
type /block belthasar (or whatever your ingame name in question is)
if belthasar gets added to your block list it means the name is taken by another player
if it fails to add belthasar to your block list means name is free and then you can ask about conflicts

says it's added.. so I guess I'll have to live with this.
