Yeah, well, 2 major updates a year, as it's always been, nothing new here :p.
As the various steps in CT2 sum up to only 1 major update in the end, CT2.
CT3 will probably arrive sometime by the spring of next year.

as to parts 2/3, nothing has been announced as of yet ... afaik they will release teasers for part 2 next week so ... wait and see if they mention anything

Has anyone else noticed that an abnormally high ratio of people on these boards are unintentionally insinuating the Grateful Dead into our forthcoming update?
With as many times as I've read "Garcia" here in the past couple weeks, I'm half-expecting new tie-dye armor designs. :p
On-topic, though, I actually like that we get updates a few months after they hit Korea.
Not only do we get a chance to catch glimpses and previews of the content to see what's coming our way, but it empowers us all to speculate madly on it well before we can form an actual, educated opinion.

I absolutely feel it is horrible looking. It is literally the ONLY armor in the entire game that I've seen and didn't love. I think it is totally inconsistent with the artwork style of the game, I think the textures are sloppily drawn, and I think it looks awful on most race/gender combos. It looks pretty good on a male dark elf to me, but that's about it.

It looks ok on some races/classes and horribly on others, but anyway it's not right to strongly verbally attack someone for their opinion of the look of an armor set.
I can see why you guys say that about LE shoulders, altho I don't really feel as strongly on that.
In reviewing Draconic more closely using ivory-tower.de, I decided it is really human male draconic that I despise so much. I'm not overly fond of any, but that one in particular just looks absolutely awful.

I agree and I don't even have a light elf (well except for an academy toon which I will delete upon graduation). Quite frankly they are so bad that I wouldn't roll a light elf because of the horrendous style.
If you check the look of a LE female in Blue Wolf Heavy, you'll notice that she looks like a Las Vegas Showgirl from the waist down, and a Football Player from the waist up. And... hmm... the male LE does too :P
These arent exactly pay ... Korea has 3 different account payment options
a. x days unlimited play
b. x hours playtime
c. free to play from X net cafe
what you see are like "bonuses" for people that pay for unlimited play, price remains the same and if for example you pay for 30 days of gametime you can choose either green blue or orange item sets and you get those items for 30 days. Yellow is one week and purple 3 months.

but at the same time i'm affraid we won't get all those things for free on our monthly subscription
i'd be willing to pay up to 100 euros for one of those packages if the items were permanent, but wouldn't get it if it was a separate monthly subscription
Yeah there is nothing much in the preview ... only major things are 3 new instances + 1 new mixed pvp/pve instance, vitality herb drops, increase in vitality (which in effect makes l2 less grindbound) etc etc nothing major announced, at least so far

i'd say reducing the grind is smth major. almost everyone has been complaining about this.
and going hand in hand with the above is also item weight reduction to 1/3 of original imo.
you get more xp in the same timeframe AND are able to exp for longer cause no need to resupply (spending time to find cheap ss, going through grocery, maybe losing spot during this time, having to fight to get it back etc.)
if this colored things are about korean paying methods, we'll definitely miss this feature. we can choose subscription for certain time, but we can't choose calendar time <-> game time. huh, seems this upgrade will be nothing in most for us. :)

As far as I understand all 9 new pets etc are not available ingame, only through the pay schemes
the 9 items you can choose from are 2 new headgear (cat/skull cap) rideable horse agathion, cute looking agathion, 1 of 4 new pets (buffer/healer/fighter/mage), access to a special instance, custom color schemes,a transport service and a revival service.
transport service/revival service arent really explained but rumor has it that transport = go from one "name" place on the map to another without user interaction and revival = rez yourself. And no clue what custom color schemes do, they mention something about neon lights etc, no idea.
Dunno if/how any of those will transfer to NA. Oh and by the way keep in mind, this is a preview, they hardly ever reveal everything about a new update in the preview

When I read all those things you listed I'm like this can't be real. Not for US / Euro players. It has to be for the koreans. That's why I said what I did.
They should know by now the playstyle people have here is different. Though I like the new pets, I hate the shadow part of it. And the 100% auto rez is just very wrong. Maybe people don't play bishops in korea.

In a way I think it makes sense for them to offer some of these things as paid services. Perhaps paying for the buffer/healer pet is somewhere in between the cost of paying for a second box (and not everyone is for the second box). Perhaps paying for game services that let you level faster or more easily discourage people from buying adena illegally. I mean.. if people are going to do such things anyway, I would prefer that it be through a legal/sanctioned process that everyone has access to. And, frankly, since NCsoft is the one developing the content I enjoy, I prefer they get the money than some pro-adena-farming outlet in someone's basement.
these paid services will be available only to people who play for a limited amount of time. as i understood it it's another system meant to close the gap between hardcore players and casual. people who play all the time won't have access to those services and i think it's fine.

You second point does not follow logically from your first. By your logic, I could say "In Korea, game text appears in Korean. So, no, we won't ever see English text in NA."

Can we get some Half Plate looking Light Elf armor in the upper lvls cuz to me that's 1 of the best looking LE armors in game as far as heavy goes, and zubie and avadon to name the other 2 i like . that would be a great update :)
