For some reason - when I stay in a certain wing of this hotel - it doesnt let me connect to Teamspeak or to L2. The connection they use in this wing is plugged into the wall outlet. The rest of the hotel is hardwired and I never have an issue. I have no issue connecting to Firefox or IE at all but just to remote servers I guess. Even my companies Intranet I have no issue connecting to.
(checking for wireless networks around - all security enabled :/ )
Does anyone know why this is? Or how to connect around this???? Unfortunately all of the rooms here are booked and if I cant log onto L2 tonight - then I guess I'm going to have to get drunk and pick up a local - and no one wants that!
Thanks for your help in advance! (Posted in General technical problems section - but doesnt get much notice.)
Eats
Hey eats u numb nuts!!!!!!(and btw to all reading tell him to fo......*grins evilly.... what city u in? i can tell u how hotel internet works. They have it routed through usually a server connected in a different city(main property in chain) for instance. Here at the sutton edmonton all internet traffic is routed through vancouver sutton. They usualy set up their routers to only open specific ports for their traffic and shut down all other ports. THere for programs like l2 will not run with out certain ports open. The best i can sugeest is if you have roaming access through your normal isp in ont., u might be able to get a local or 1-800-number to connect, or look for a telus hotspot wich you could use a credit card to get on the internet(if ur in the west). Other option is to find a internet cafe.
Hope this helps bud.
Hotels have a block against that sort of stuff. At least the one I work at does, we get complaints about running certain types of programs and trying to work gaming consoles all the time; but it's blocked and that's how we want it.
