Yeah I don't know about Lionna but on Kain it's just what everybody did and nobody had to worry about it, although there were a few occasions when some clans were able to ninja dusk at the last moment when people were not paying attention. Kudos to them that they were able to pull it off even though most of the server were cursed that week or had no access to the mammons :)

Lionna was 99% Dawn but we did have this one alliance for a min called Chaos and they pulled off Dusk a few times also.
C H A O S ! i remember we made a screenie after getting dusk for the first time at Anakim with all our titles reading REVOLUTIONARY. fun times. lost the screenie because of a hard drive crash though :(
...it was also probably habit for most people. Dawn was popular on both servers before the merge, it seems. Oh well. I'm sure the castles will all be claimed just fine. :)

there is no reason anyone should be going dawn at all ever!
NCsoft changed it in hellbound that castle owners/allies could sign dusk.
By owning dusk, and getting seal of strife you get higher CP.
By owning dusk you can do anakim that drops a very valuable transformation that lets you do "hellaious" dmg to people.

You can own all three seals you need 34% or more people signed for a seal to take that seal but if you had it the previous round you only need 10% to maintain it. So over two rounds of 7 signs you can have all 3 seals.
Yeah, that is the nice thing. I remember when we never knew if the Chaos ally was going to go dawn or dusk. It not only made you ponder your choices, but it also made the festivals active... and these days they are a nice source for CRP. You had to make choices, and it made the game that much more interesting. If everyone just goes dawn all the time, it loses an aspect of the game to being "safe." too bad.
Humorous side-note about Dusk-Dawn...
Dusk won on the PTS in its first week, which was particularly funny to me for a couple of reasons.
1st... I discovered that there are frikken Bots on the PTS... I am not sure why.. but they are there.
2ns... the bots apparently signed up for dawn, becouse when Dusk won all the bots ran to the presits of dawn and couldn't port in. They've been stuck at the NPC for about 24 hours now. :)

I don't look at them as players or even give them any respect...I treat them like mobs...if they 010100 in a spot I want to hunt they go down.
botters (farmers/players) = garbage of the server that NCSoft needs to take out once a week.
