thought i'd make a list of all the chaotic items and their effects so feel free to contribute if you have any
1.each item has a set effect so you might have a meteor shower with +hp or a dc gloves with +cast speed
2.chaotic items cancel the effect of set bonii so odds are you want numerous rare items before you throw away your old normal set
3.the chance of a crit craft seems to be around the 1 in 10-30 range but will need a lot of trials to nail the number down
AOBA - landslide: chance to stun
looks like about a 1 in 30 trigger rate and lands about 50% on a lower lvl bd
blue wolf gloves: increases speed and mp regen rate
item says increases mp regen but passive skills says mp regen
dorf
normal speed 125
glove speed 126
bd
normal speed 139
glove speed 140
blue wolf breastplate:
dorf
normal speed 125
breastplate 132
bd
normal speed 139
breastplate 146
so as far as i can tell it will most likely be a static increase
So I have a question on "each item has a set effect". Does this mean, for example, that every chaotic Damascus will have the Earth effect, or does it mean that every Damascus with the Earth effect has a set bonus?
Sorry, I can read into this two ways and just wanted to understand better before I start to consider future crafts. If all I can get with the Damascus is +++HP, I won't bother with crafting Damascus's. But if they can get other effects, it may be worth it.
Every Chaotic item has a specific effect it will receive once turned into a rare item. Dama only gets earth, drac bow only gets haste, zubei helm light only gets evasion etc.
I can corfirm that if you mix regular and rare armor items you do not get a set bonus, I have no clue what happens if all items are rare though. TBH most rare armor parts give similar bonuses to the armor sets so I m not sure what's the deal with all that ...
Anyways, beyond that yes you can augment rare weapons and jewelry

Maybe the deal is that they expect you to combine different parts from different sets to make your own personalized sets with the effects you want? (Random guess)
That wouldn't work out neither visually (doom heavy with bw boots / zubei gloves would be comical) or practically. The effects rare armor items give are pretty much watered down versions of the set bonus. Like zubei light set gives +4 evasion, each rare piece of the zubei light set (helm/top/bottom/gloves/boots) gives 1 evasion. Sounds like waaaaay too much trouble to get 1 extra evasion over the normal set.
bw boots
increases speed +1 and mp/hp regen (depending on which description is right)
black ore ring
increases mp by 9 (might be % based)
if anyone has a chaotic bw helm and gaiters they can lend me for a sec i will test if full rare sets get the normal bonus otherwise i'll wait for next boost and try and craft them
maybe this is design for lower level player/new player who cannot craft/afford a complete B grade armor set to get the set bonus. So instead of a full BW heavy armor for +7 and +str bonus, they have 2-3 pieces of the BW armor and get a lower bonus of what a full armor set give. Just a wacky thought since it a small change to crit craft to get these rare armor/weapon it not a poorman replacement for full armor set or lvl 11-13 soul crystal for weapon.
I have crafted 15 weps B grade and higher so far and no crit yet. Also havent gotten any of those weps past +6 either. Not having much luck on the pets.
I did however craft 20 D grade weps and got 4 double crafts out of 20. But no need to craft C or below since everything is available in NPC shops for less than price of material to craft.

True but you can still crit craft on D and C grade and get 2 items from the craft. But not high enough chance to spend the money to craft D or C grade now.
I just dont understand NcSoft Korea. Ya they took the spell books away from the mobs, but guess what they drop now! Pretty much nothing 2 silver and a hand full of thread in 2 lvl's at EV. Oh ya Satyr's drop demon glove recipe's, now that you can buy the gloves in the store.
weird
i've gotten about 7 chaotic crafts and seen about 50 in my craft shop but havn't gotten a double craft yet, although im not sure if chat log shows them
Well rare armors are quite useless and i pity anyone who gets a chaotic S80 craft. I finished my Tallum Heavy Rare Set which is not a set at all and as you can see all it does over a regular set is add a few points of atk speed: tallum rare (non)set (http://img224.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tallummr4.jpg)

So rare items are tradeable? Can anyone get some tests on the rare jewelry? Or weapons for that matter? Any tests on jewelry augments would be nice too... There's still so much I don't know!
hope they fix sets to allow rare pieces to still give the overall set bonus...would hate to "accidentally" make a rare s80 armor piece.
if it's really supposed to be like this...that's just aweful.
If I understood it correctly, you get two items, one can become a rare one, and the other is just your regular one.
So even if they didn't make the full set, you still have the regular one that can.
You didn't understand correctly. Critical Crafts and Rare crafts are two seperate systems.
However no one should be complaining because even though you have a small chance of a Chaotic item when you'd rather not have it (ie DC Robe set), you also now have a chance to get two items. You wouldn't want a rare DC robe set because you don't get the +wit bonus.
C and D grade crafting can get a crit that will give you 2 items with one craft.
B grade and above crit craft gives you the rare wep/armor/jewelry not a double craft.
Also you cannot crit craft on shots and materials. Atleast I haven't been able to get shots and materials to crit yet. Crafted 20 of several different materials to test it, and over 200k shots so far with no crits.

Dont the additional +cstspd from the rare items give you the same bonus as +2 wit in the end?
Either the rare armor special stats are not working, to week or the hole system for rare armor is a joke. So far from what I have seen the bonuses in no way make up for the set bonuses. More testing I guess is needed.
If this is true when it comes to A grade and above you not only have a 60% chance to craft the item, you now have a chance of getting a totaly worthless piece of armor as well. Good thing chances of a rare craft on armor are low.
EDIT: I just read that Korean PTS the rare armor didn't have set bonuses at first but was fixed later and made it to live. So it should be getting fixed and rare items will have thier individual bonuses plus the set bonus. This is from rumor central but still hope it's true.
that's totally set dependant really
a full chaotic BW set would be worth having since it gives you a huge boost in speed and you can live without the stat boost
another set i would guess would be worth it is IC since it will prolly give a fair bit more pdef and hp and the +str -dex is crap at end game
It might be worth having to you, but would the bonuses for the rare items be worth the cost without the set bonuses uncluded. I dought people would pay what they are going to cost, or would take the time to try and craft without the set bonuses.

Isn't this version of the PTS the "non-patched" one that the Koreans eventually fixed and then released live? Meaning that you guys arent really testing anything. The live version is patched already and will be the version we get at launch.
Don't get me wrong, what you guys are doing is a HUGE help, but I am sure 99% of this stuff is already sorted out and will be squared away(for the most part) at launch.
So we shouldn't get our panties in too big a wad just yet. I am pretty excited about Gracia, all of the things ppl are [censored] about ie Vitality, set bonuses, drop rates etc. SHOULD be worked out by the time I get to play it.
1. Is it any crafted piece of gear so say an eldrake shield will have a chance to be chaotic and not just set items like a Doom Shield or Chain shield?
2. And does jewelery work in the same way? and ... sorry for the bunch of questions here if you get a chaotic pheonix earing for instance and you unseal it will you get the bonus mp/Mdef aswell as the chaotic part?
About the set bonuses, rumors say that in the live client they will have the regular set effects PLUS the new effects they have as a chaotic item
Yeah if thats true about armor bonuses think of double bonuses on some armors, namely DC Robe Rare set. Scares me just thinking about it. Hopefully it doesn't stack and with the set bonus and a fully rare set it is only a slight increase in set bonus.
I still would like to see the stats on any chaotic jewelry. What kind of bonuses are we talking here? +mp? Or + #Dark resist for example? Is there a chance Phoenix would be better than Maj or something like that?

From what I've seen there is a pattern. It seems the bonuses reflect bonuses already existent on the weapon or the armor in an armor set bonus or the Special Ability. So I'm guessing with Jewelry it will be +MP and resists for higher level jewels.
Though we will most likely have to wait until next boost.

The only chaotic jewel i have gotten so far was a BO necklace that gave stun resist. Doesn't say anywhere how much, though.

Well that's pretty impressive, thanks for the info! Since A grade only has phoenix and Maj, and S only has Tat, I wonder what kind of mods they would have? It would be kind of unfair to make every tat piece resist one element or attack type (Stun, bleed, etc)... Since that's what a lot of people will eventually have...
go to blacksmith of mammon when he comes out and see for yourself what each rare jewel gives
I'm interested in augments too ^^ Since you can't get skills on jewels (I imagine anyway...) is there any reason to use higher level stones on them? Anyone tried augmenting jewels yet?
First you have to exchange 5 normal lifestones of equal level and grade against 1 special lifestone for jewelry, and then an Augmented A-Grade Majestic Necklace (in that experiment with a no-grade 46 lifestone) gets M.Def +1.33 and MP +6.5:

HP+11.5
MP+9.2
M.atk+1.4

Not to bad for lvl 49 life stone on C grade jewelry. I imagine the higher stones and jewelry will be better. Also augmenting 5 pieces of jewelry will add up quiet nicely.
or we must trade 5 ls ----> 1 special ls ----> full set augment ?
Right. 5 LS of the same lvl and grade
(edit) - Full set augment? No. You need 5 LS for 1 special LS. And each piece of jewelry uses 1 special LS. So for the full set to be augmented you need 5 of them.
I hope to god they upped the drop rate of ls's or this is fairly useless for those without the dough to go buy them ive only ever gotten 5 lifestones as drops and they were not the same level
There are areas and lvls of life stones that seem to drop alot more often than others. But that is just from experience through lvl 72. 42, 55, 62 seemed to drop the most for me.
