There are "New players" in game

General Discussion Started Last reply 51 posts
I was online last night messing with an old uncompleted quest in the Dion area and two different players asked questions.
Clearly new players as the answers were obvious to people playing for more than a few days.
I wasn't doing much so was quite happy to continue pm'ing with them and even grouped one so I could see where she was on the map and direct her to a hunting zone.
Both players seemed to be enjoying the game so far and, with a little help from a long term player, hopefully they'll stay for the long haul.
Regrettably I didn't ask them how they'd come across the game but, nevertheless, they had and were playing it !

So two new players in one night in one town must bode well for the game. Unless, of course, it was a total fluke.
No fluke. I bumped into a true noob over the weekend. He needed help with soul shots, one thing led to another, and the next thing I knew I was on my buffer showing him the ropes. I must admit, not a bad weekend spent.
I think the news of Gracia and that it makes leveling easier will bring not only new players but also players who tried the game and realized that it was just "too much" for their lives.

There is a lot to be said about Lineage 2. Great Art design, open world, interesting end game, etc.

HOW CAN YOU HAVE ANY PUDDING, IF YOU DON'T EAT YOUR MEAT!!!!!
Yes, Korhil, please contact our Support Team if you would because I can see that you applied your game key fine, and you have an active account, so I'm unclear as to why you would have a problem logging in. Are you getting an error of some sort? What happens when you try to log in?

Just a random thought: Your playNC acc and your game acc are seperate of each other that means you can (and should for security purposes) have a different password on either one. Perhaps you are trying to login with the wrong pass?

That's only what came to my mind first tho^^

As it has been said, support ticket and maybe some more information would help.
I am always runnning into new players. Probably because I am one.

As for you peoples surmising about what is going to be merged next. PA-LEES stop putting ideas into Lineage 2 peoples heads! Lol.

This may be a surprise to you but there are people playing this game that have more than one character on the different servers. Mergers do not bode too well with people such as myself when the servers are meshed together and characters are lost. Having multiple characters in my opinion is the way to play an MMO and get the full feel of the game. Top doggin' is fine but not for everyone.

I don't want any new mergers for a long time. At least until after all 3 parts of Gracia are done. Thanks.

I have an idea.....

And with a grin i say, let me see your host file :)

There are definitely new players. And there are also returning players, which in my case is pretty close to "new" since I hadn't played since C1.

I think the issue that stops many of them from getting further in the game or sticking around is the economics of this game. A new player *can* achieve their goals and get their gear at or close to the milestone levels. But to do so without cheating requires a HUGE devotion to the pure economic side of the game.

This is, understandably, not appealing to all (or, I suspect, even most) players.

I think the exp grind is overstated, and frankly players like a grind to a certain extent, even if they pretend otherwise. WoW, for example, is a huge and brutal grind, but it is disguised and cleverly packaged as part of the raiding progression.

So I don't think the xp pace has been too slow (tho I welcome the Gracia changes) - but I do think that making money has been far too all-consuming a game facet for most players to cope with it. This, in turn, greatly increases the pressure to cheat.

I have never purchased game currency for any of the (way-too-many) mmo's that I have played. But I have to admit that even I was tempted by this game. It's very very very very rough.

hehe yupp had the same thought. either that or firewall block.
Well my friends and i started up on L2 last week and well my welcome wasnt as warm as someone showing me the ropes...

I was pked at level 6 and told to cry about it =/ , then at level 18 someone killed my wolf and ran off... such a friendly player base on phoenix server. Just leaves such a warm fuzzy feeling in your stomach.
Well, I know that you won't like it, but... it's open pvp, anybody can pk you outside the towns, if he wants it.
I've never met any real player from 50 to 6X. Community and game is broken, unfortunatly.

I think I may have run across those same people lately...just a couple days ago it was a DE mystic on the Kamael island. He was an idiot of course and dropped to my dwarf without a problem once I got rid of an aggro mob.

I think the merge with Hindemith brought a lot idiots with it. Not that Gustin didn't have it's share, but it sure seems like most of them had left in that last year before the merge. (That or they were all super high level and didn't bother dicking with people at lower levels.)

Not so oddly, your experience isn't all that different from mine when the game was first released. (Pk'd and had my pet killed by 'tough guys'.)

I wouldn't let it bother you too much at those levels though. (L6? that's hardly a couple of minutes to recover from...most of it finding a new spot where the moron isn't.)

It used to be like this all the time. Pk'ers everywhere, reds camping out the entrances, taking dungeons hostage, etc.

Seriously, consider yourself lucky ;)

We all go through it. I had one problem at 16 or so. He went purple. Thought I was boxing the EE behind me and was rolled. I play on phoenix. There are a lot of fun, decent people on there. Dont forget the blessing of protection.

PS you're a bigger man than I leveling that wolf. I cant do with with 2 people in a party, wolf takes about 1/4 of the xp.
I am new. But I havnt experienced any sort of griefing on luna. Most of the players are botters. Havnt seen any pkers? I did get pked once i was 20, but I was being an [censored]. He was training mobs and aoe xping using a polearm. I was ****** off that he was stealing my mobs, I started intercepting his train, stealing mobs from his train. Once I even hijacked his big train and lead it far away from the spot. :)
Yeah there are I am one, just reactivated my account, never played before.
Was asked to join a clan (Valhalla on Luna), I could ask them anything, and they seemed like the friendliest bunch.
I was like hey this feels nice, never really went with the whole grouping clan thing in other mmos.

But now 4 days later Im kicked out appearantly and have no clue what so ever as to what the reason is, and everyone I whisper or tell dont reply.
I hope not all Clans are like this because its a big let down for me, that people behave this way.
I almost felt like deactivating my account, but thats just because I was really ****** for this thing to happen, because it makes no sense,
and is just plain rude to me. They could atleast answer when I ask them "Why?"

Well just felt like ranting ;) Thanks

No, not all clans are like this.

I can't tell you how many times I've helped young players (and I mean "too young to be playing this) who were scammed or kicked from a clan and they just didn't have the social skills to work it through.

There are some great groups playing this game. you just have to learn "who is who" and find them.
Yeah Im glad, the weird thing is I couldnt see it coming because they were really helpfull even gave me a C grade of D grade? set,
in loan ofcourse (which I am even willing to give back to the player who helped me).

Well I dont belong to the young players, wish I did haha so for me that is not the case, it just is a little let down.
But ofcourse I understand that not everyone is like this.

You are also a very helpfull and active player I know because I am a member of MMORPG.com and see you posting a lot, helping out giving advice and tips and all so.
So thats very cool ;)

But I do have a new incentive now, and throw in some RP flavour.
Because this clan did this, my character has nothing else to do but join another clan and kick their [censored],
repeatedly ofcourse lol :P

I didnt mean to come about as someone who whines a lot,
I just found it to be rude and inpolite nothing more ;) And it just underlines the hard core flavour of L2.
Because I got killed a lot already outside of the Human starter town.
Which is a double edged blade for me because thats the reason I started playing as well.

Thanks Sov!

Oh, you didn't come across as that at all. And yes, I do think it was very rude for them to kick you and not tell you why. For some reason, some players in online games forget about common courtesy (if they ever new it) just because there is online anonymity.
This post also underscores for me the importance of picking a "good" clan--rather than picking quickly.
Many on these forums will tell new players to "get into an academy as soon as possible" which I think leaves new players with two impressions--any old clan will do, and "I'll get stuff/help".

Actually clans vary WIDELY in this game. From a couple friends trying to exploit others to groups that play multiple MMOS together to power/uber outfits to serious jerks.

Minimally, a new player should ask a few questions--and of more than one member---particularly if said clan doesn't have a website and isn't level 5 or higher.

1. How many people are in the clan?
2. How many people tend to be on at once? What time zones? What levels and classes?
3. Can I speak with clan leader?
4. Can I speak with one or two other clan members?
5. What's your policy on eula violations? Official and unofficial?
6. What is expected of a new player? Adena contributions? Mat contris? Play time commitments?
7. What, if any, rules does the clan have?
8. How do you discipline members?
9. What would get me kicked from this clan?
10. What can I expect as support from members?
11. How long has this clan been together?
12. What are the clan goals?

These should be asked in some form BEFORE joining. Any clan that doesn't want to talk to you and answer questions is likely one you should steer away from.

Joining the wrong clan can be worse than joining no clan at all. It should be a serious decision if you're going to play this game in a serious way.
1. How many people are in the clan? 58

2. How many people tend to be on at once? 2 both mostly in shop mode at Giran AFK What time zones? All we have people from all over. What levels and classes? all from 1 to 78 and every class.

3. Can I speak with clan leader? NO she is very Busy.

4. Can I speak with one or two other clan members? yes please bug them and leave the clan leader alone

5. What's your policy on eula violations? break them and your Booted (unless your in the academy then your booted after class change :p Official and unofficial? WHAT?

6. What is expected of a new player? get us points Adena contributions? keep your money and don't ask us for any Mat contris? keep your matts or donate to clan WH but don't ask us for any unless your buying Play time commitments? Main clan just once a month at least log in. Academy you better be on line 5 days out of the week.

7. What, if any, rules does the clan have? In main clan no breaking EULA, no pking (unless who you pk is clan less) bend over and kiss all the BIG evil clans Butt we are a carebear clan and we don't PVP unless it's a 100% chance we can beat them.

8. How do you discipline members? I don't...... I don't have time to be a Baby Sister I boot them or let my cousin or Officers deal with them.

9. What would get me kicked from this clan? Dam near anything unless your in academy. you can only get kick from academy if your not leveling.

10. What can I expect as support from members? Friendly Chat and that's about it.

11. How long has this clan been together? over 2 years

12. What are the clan goals? Stay out of the way of the Big Clans, keep our Clan Hall and Do RB with any clan that will let us Join them in the hunt
Kariz - when you say you were kicked, did you by chance complete your 2nd class change quest and reach level 40?

Or, you did something bad and are now blacklisted.

Ahh... good point.
No really if I did I would really know, I do think they kicked me for not being as high as a player as the rest (but they knew this upfront so that strikes me as odd of a reason though)

But I am talking about a Clan Academy here btw. I leveled to 12 with a new toon, that just got invited to the clan (had to reroll).
And for 3 to 4 days I was a member, and I got kicked after 4 days , so I wouldnt even have the time to do something wrong lol.

Everything was oke, I even talked to everyone the day before I got kicked and they were just as warm and friendly as every day so, I really have no clue, I swear.
Karizmatic, what level do you keep getting kicked out? it matters because at 40 you dont get "kicked out" as much as Graduated from the academy, ready to be accepted into the main clan.

cause it sounds like one of two things is happening here:

either youre graduating

or the clans you have joined gave you a 3-4days confidence vote. very common amid tight clans. acceptance isnt guaranteed but members will be polite even if they wont take you.
People are getting tired of that horribly overrated game called World of Warcraft. L2 provides something new to these players, so I'm not surprised. Even I came back after leaving in C2. Things have changed since than and they changed for the best. I'm happy to be back.
No this is my first Clan and first time playing L2, I bought it in 06 but never played it so I have no former experience with this game nor Clans.

My character was only just accepted and I leveled to level 12 with a new toon espescially for the clan.
And even if it was a vote they didnt send me a notice or email or anything, and when I asked them they just Blocked me, so that cant be the case ?

Essentially they were being jerks. Good Riddance to bad rubbish.
and you say this is Luna?

i think you may have found a few "farmer" clans if i may term them that way. they dont really want your membership so much as you acquirable and valuable Reputation points. and those - ASAP. if after 4 days they have seen you grow to a level of little consequence they may think you are too slow of a player to be worthy of the space in the academy. or simply you may be a spy for a warring clan.

in either case i suggest you try a more established server - like Bartz, Sayha, or Phoenix. i have a lot of confidence that you PROBABLY wont see this kind of activity on those servers.

Yeah that was my opionion as well Sov, haha glad you agree, thanks!

Indeed Spud it looked like they were just after points for their clan, so like Sov sad good riddance.

I thought it would be a good thing to start on a newer server because of the level differences and such, but Im going to try to make a toon on a more established server, to try it out.

Thanks for NOT being jerks! ;)

Beforehand I will first ask some more info from a clan, when they ask me to join. So thanks for that advice as well!

If you want, you can come too Phoenix, I think we have room in our Academy and we have some "newer" players in tere as well.

These are very good questions. I always reassure new clan members when they join my clan. I explain the rules up front and I rarely boot anyone without an explanation EXCEPT if they are inactive. For over a month. Hard to explain to someone who is not around....

All I can tell you is not all clans are like that. Find ya another one....ask around the server on who is a good clan. Other folks will tell you.
Well that would be really nice Sov. One thing though, I chose Luna because Im from Europe and it would be easier to track the time there,
and to be able to do things with Clans because of the same timezone. Wouldnt that be a problem on Phoenix?

And another thing, Im not a hard core player, I play 4 to 5 days a week but mostly 4 and then around 3
and sometimes 4 hours one a day. Would that be sufficient ?

Verita, thanks for the advice, I will do that because I see the names of a lot of different clans,
and there has to be a more casual n00b friendly clan on Luna ;)
teon and franz are also established servers, just Luna is not. theres no need to go to phoenix if you know youd appreciate a more euro-based population.
There is also a pretty large Euro playerbase on Aria atm within some esstablished clans there. Varuna, Exortium, oWo, Dark Omen, etc. The only difficulty there is the siege times are NA. I am sure other servers have euro players as well that have chosen not to "move servers" when Tion, Franz, and Luna came about. But of the euro servers Tion is the oldest followed by Franz. With Luna not going live but just this last spring.
*waves hand* I admit I am a new noobie ... and I aint got a clue but having fun finding out new and fun things to do xD *yup its my first post lol*
