So I realized I'm doing my Lost 80's Lunch at the station and I don't even have Rapers Delight in my 80's files. I ask my boss if we can pick that up and he says make a list and we can get some of those we overlooked. So anyway, my question to Phoenix is what's your favorite 80's songs and what would you request? :p

great guys, im typing them in to see if i have them :) I totally forgot about Faith no more being in the 80's too. I don't have rush on my list either.
Beasty boys
& careless whipsers (wham)
can be added to this list ofc.
also any police song (sending out an sos for one)
Bon jovi and most other long hair bands of the day.
OMG A-Ha :) Before I went through my Metal stage, I liked them. For like 6 months. Then I listened to "Still of the Night" from Whitesnake and that was my downfall. I was a metal-girl from 12 to like 21, and then I completely changed again. I still like the old metal bands, I just can't stand the new ones. And since I'm a singer and my voice has NOTHING to do with metal, I grew out of it and started listening to other things :)
But here's some:
Dr. Feelgood - Motley Crue... yes, Tommy Lee WAS the man. He and David Coverdale. I still have a crush on Coverdale. :o
Still of The Night - Whitesnake
Runaway - Bon Jovi (Hah! Now THAT'S an old one...).
Yes "still of the night" (whitesnake) aired on MTV and also lead to my heavy metal days although my crush was on Tawni Katain (spelling).:P
Think my list went somthing like:
Motley crew
Whitesnake
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Ozzy Osbourn (after black sabith)
ZZ top
(pour some sugar on me band) cant remember name ect

You might be one of my new favorite forum people :)
I heard Still of the Night on the radio and went crazy about that man's voice... And yeah, Tawni Kitaen, I hated her :) :) My crush was more on Coverdale's voice than anything, one freaking hot voice that man has!
My list went more like:
Whitesnake
Van Halen
Metallica (old 80-90's days until the Black Album. The rest for me is crap).
Motley Crue
Pearl Jam had a wonderful first album, I hated the other ones they did. Same for Red Hot Chilli Peppers. And Queen, obviously, but Queen's kinda immortal for me :)
Yes as started in the other thread I went to the Mettalica " In Justice for all concert" and my friends told me I enjoyed it.
Also At the Motley Crew consert for Girls,Girls,Girls, I went out to the busses to "relieve myself" and ran into what i thought was a roadie at the time. He asks me if I was looking forward to the show in which I reply yes but I think Faster Pussycat sucked and wasn't looking forward to them. The man laughed and I went back to stand in line.
Turns out the guy was the lead singer for Faster Pussycat. Doh.
what about Pink Floyd, Prince, Police, REO Speedwagon, Run-D.M.C., Tom Petty, Twisted Sister, U2, Van Halen, Violent Femmes, Wang Chung, Ministry, Moody Blues?
on and the theme song for the animated Transformer movie by Lion or Weird Al Yankovic -dare to be stupid?
My languages teacher was CRAZY about Malmsteen. You looked at her, she looked like one of those nerds. We went to her house, she had all sorts of Metal bands in a CD collection. It was quite amusing.
But I still prefer Steve Vai. I could be biased since he was part of Whitesnake at a certain point, but :)
Thanks guys i've got a couple to add to the list :) Try to name the hit songs with the bands. The station plays 1 song at a time not whole albums :)
and since everyone been talking bout the rock side of the 80's what about the rap or dance :)
Paid In full - Rakim
mamma said knock you out - LL cool J
Bring the noise - public enemy
N.W.A.
I think it is illegal to have Bob Seger and jazzy jeff in the same sentence btw.
To the others; culture club, milli w/e, etc etc... omf lmao. No wonder you guys are shut-ins. *Hugs & Kisses to those with taste in their mouths only*
PS. Is it true your l2 is shutting down for a bay city roller concert.
hehe we know there was. He doesn't mean it literally, he means that after Syd Barrett, there was no more Pink Floyd in their brilliance and stuff like that. Like the band died to him when Syd left :)

...and how can you possibly have this many pages of an 80's list with no Rick Astley link yet?
I can't believe I saw... culture club.. Milli Vanilli... duran duran... new kids on the block???? I thought people that listened to that in the 80's were all beaten into submission?? Just because it was 20 years ago doesn't mean they somehow became magically cool now..... we need an intervention.
On the other hand, noone mentioned, say, Dead Can Dance's Cantara (which is one of my favorite 80's songs, but hardly fits radio hit format, neither by length nor by content).
And then, noone mentioned Sandra's Maria Magdalena, which was a great hit in Europe, but was probably not heard in US.
Wow guys thanks! So my boss comes to me today and says, "we need to rethink the 80's show, I mean most of the people who listen were born in the 80's so they more than likely want to hear 90's more"
I got a whole page of 80's songs we didn't have though thanks guys :)
Yes, i feel very old with my 35 years, but i guess im not the only one since so many ppl knows 80`s songs here. :D
lol... 41 here.
So, I dated a woman who wanted to get back to her acting roots. She also was a dancer so she ended up being a cast member in the musical footloose... yadda yadda yadda, they needed more guys, she asked nicely and batter her eyes and somehow I had one of the roles. Sigh.
In any case the director wanted to set the thing in the 80's and really play up the whole 80's fashion. None of the younger "kids" (high school early college) believed that people not only dressed like that but that the women put on makeup in that way.
Many of the women refused to apply the eye shadow "just so" because they thought we were pulling their leg. It took a lot of cajoling and year book pictures to show them that this really was how it was.
I know that there are many people who don't like the 80's but if you look at the 60's and 70's, the 80's had to happen because a steam vent of sorts was needed to deintensify the previous 2 decades.
I graduated in '82 and most of us in the yearbook look pretty stupid but it's worse when I looked at my oldest brothers yearbook (class of '77). They look like Brady Bunch cast member rejects. Just watch Dazed and Confused for a sample.
Whew, I don't feel so old now....I see people in my age group and a *slightly* older. :)
Speaking of lame 80's singers, I was in Best Buy today (and btw, L2 is back on their shelves, they were sideways, I put them face forward...LOL) and I heard......FFS...Rick Springfield was making a Come Back. I heard the song...it sucked......he was lame then, he's still lame.

I asked the guy, "why you so fly?"
he said "funky cold Adena"
