Can't Ncsoft tell us how it actually works because I was idle afk in town for almost 16 hours and not one bar regened.
Is it bugged or is there different timers etc? It is very important to know if it is even working correctly? I usually stayed logged in selling on my main since I am a clan leader so I people can leave messages and I can read clan chat when I come back from afk, am I not going to regen at all this way?
as far as I can tell, sitting in town take 4 times longer to regen than being logged out. 0 vitality to lvl 4 takes 56 hours of being logged out.
depends on your level too ... On the pts I could regen 1 vitality level in about 9 hours logged out when I was 40, close to 12 hours when I got boosted to 60
this is the problem, they said your are suppose to regen vitality 1 level per 8 - 9 hours. That was stated in the pts notes, I do not think that has happened for anyone so either its bugged and it has to be fixed or it does not work the way they told us.
And they have confirmed things like rez % crit rates % and enchant % in the past so yes they do discuss how game mechanics are designed to work.
From what I understand from playing the game for over 4 years is this. they want us to figure out some things on our own throu testing and research. this makes the game more real and add to the experience of playing the game.
The other thing is after finding this information out you then tell your people or post it on your information site or post it here in the forums were everyone can read learn thus making a Community were everyone share they knowledge and experience.
It also generates Chat in your clan or Alliance when you find out thing and you see some one in your ally asking theses questions and you answer them. thus building friend ship. :D
I JUST DONT GET WHY THEY WANT US TO NOT KNOW HOW THINGS WORKS IN THIS GAME!!! [censored].
THEY ONLY EXPLAIN THINGS BY HALF, AND THEN DESAPEEAR.
DID YOU EVEN READ MY POST?
Ashley is correct.
Quite some time ago there was an interview (dev I think?) who stated something similiar. Might have been in regards to drop tables. The idea is that you are supposed to figure things out for yourselves.
Quite frankly, I think they need to let "certain things" be discovered. However, things like Vitality or similiar such things could very easily be posted without any significant detriment to the game.
There is a difference between disclosing what mob drops what items and how certain artificial game mechanics work.

Thats what im talking about!
Big deal to tell how vitality works? It wont mess with ANYTHING.
Do a quest, farm for drops, how to kill a boss etc.. thats what we need to figure out. Not like how a system that only multiplies the xp/sp works.
I think you went a bit far Ash...
I'd really like to know this too. 9x4 is much less than 56 and 12x4 is also less than 56 like someone posted... so which is correct and is the time it takes to go up a level really affected by what level the character is? That doesn't make much sense if true.
From what I understand from playing the game for over 4 years is this. NCNA rarely will give you any information, this is due to 2 main factors: extreme lazyness and a lot of raging fanboys who enable this attitude by rationalizing said lazyness into some pretend roleplaying argument about how the game being totally undocumented and the extreme lack of information generates a harsh environment forcing us to develp friendships and understanding together and all those things sesame street is to go on about whenever cookie monster wasnt around.
Lets face some unconfortable facts shall we. The Korean website is and has always been 50 times larger, better and more full of content than ours with much more information about anything in the game.
People fast forget their history, let me take you back to C1, back then there was something called the Prima guide which was a great source of all game info at the time but mostly a drop table for all BHs to rejoyce in knowing where to get the best spoil for their animal bone, varnish or whatever.
Then C2 came along and the korean developers decided to change the drop tables entirely rendering the prima guide obsolete and bringing up questions if prima was going to release an update, mostly because we wanted said drop tables.
Numerous posts where started in both forums, and what it came down to was prima was not going to publish a new guide because NCNA would not give them the information they required in a format they could use. So what happened then? we found out the Korean website had full drop tables listed and a few fansites where born that translated this information to english and made it available to us.
To alyras credit the website has been updated more under her regime than any other CM before her, we finally have the skills sections updated which previously were completely useless, something is being done by her unlike all the other CMs that came before, just not enough and I dont blame her personally for this but the people above her that think investing some of their income in improving the north american site to more closely resemble the Korean counterpart isnt justified.
I love NC soft, and no that is no sarcasm, Ive been a subscriber for this game since it went retail played the beta and thought and still think it represents the best MMO of its kind. The north american L2 team is however terrible, and im glad to see the aion team has learned from their mistakes. Take a look at the north american Aion Site, youll see translated korean patch notes, something that has been in our wishlist for L2 forever and has never been done.
Its not limited to this at all, when was our last battle tournament? why werent more done? when was our last Q&A with the korean developers? why dont we get some more?
I wish we had a more active community which closer ties to the korean developers and more real answers to our questions when it comes to this and every other sort of game issues.
Yet we still come up with the drop tables and information. Even if they did post the information 100% on the website. 80% of the people in the forums will still ask the same dumb questions due to they laziness of them finding out the answers them selfs. :p
Of course we do, even if that means using data miners and going to blocked websites thou shal not speak of. The point isnt that the information cant be gathered by the community of players instead but to point out that we shouldnt need to do so when this information could be readly available in the official site.
This is not to say fansites are unecesary or a bad thing at all, there are a few good ones but the information tends to be incomplete and limited and most times also unupdated.
The vitality system is needlessly unintuitive, the information we got about it is at best sketchy and poor and im pretty sure the way vit will be measured will be improved in later patches because the korean player base will have similar worries.
lets look at some of the issue ive been having:
1) There is no exact way to measure how much vit you got left, just those notches that seem to vanish randomly
2) I get the distinct impression odd notches vanish faster than even ones, my 4 full rested notches took a while to vanish while my 3rd lasted less than a buff run, this was observed on more than 1 char in different situations so it cant really be attributed to an increase in XP intake but some flawed or perplexingly desiged feature of the system
3)While in party between a 78 ES and a 74 BD I noticed that in the time the BD went through 2 notches of vit the ES depleated all 4 notches, in total this yielded about 2% for the ES while the BD got about 15% and the total time grinded was about 1 hour.
This seems to not be functioning correctly unless the purpouse of vit is to help people get to 78 and then becomes totally worthless because it seems to be depleated far quicker at higher levels instead of far slower as originally thought.
I always thought the purpouse of vit/rested XP was to help balance gameplay between casual and hardcore players, as it stands this defines a casual player as someone who plays 1 hour ever 3 days which seems a little unrealistic unless your name is splatter.
4) There are several undocumented theories on exactly how long it takes to regen vit but the general consensus seems to be that it regens slower at higher levels, i observed something like this in the PTS also.
5) Original translations of the korean patch notes indicated vit regens faster when staying on a peace zone, while I do not like that idea I like even less the oposite where sitting in a peace zone regens your vit far slower.
Admitedly this could be solved by using an alt to do all your selling but still, i dont see why that mechanic needed to work that way.
OK lets look at this. 1 the 78 ES needs far more XP to level then a 74 BD does. If the V system is base on XP and your level which from my testing it is. So who ever is getting the most xp will run out faster. It's not base on being in a mob area you can stand there forever and not loose V if your not getting xp.
now a 78 ES group with a 74 BD.
The 78 ES is going get more XP simply because the ES is a higher level. However it takes a lot less XP for a 74 BD to level so even thou it's getting less XP it will Gain Levels faster.
So in the long run you will get a lot more XP then that BD but your % gain will be small after all your 78. The BD will get less xp Because he's a lower lvl In your group but he also need much less XP to gain a %. that and the fact that your V is running out faster then his from your getting so much XP which helps him get even more XP in the long run.
I hope that helps because now my head hurts figuring that out :p

Ashley you wrote in another post that vitality comes back slower on a higher level toon. The vitality is shared between main and subclass so all you have to do is switch to sub and log out and apparently you can abuse the system (if the system in fact works that way) I seriously doubt that though considering how easy that would be to abuse. I had a lvl 66, 67 and 71 all in party together and all of their vitality levels went down at the exat same mob which seems to negate the level difference having a lot of affect, at least not until after level 72.
it's before 72 I think walls are in it also. because my buffer was 56 and I was 71 and I lost my bar before the buffer but the buffer was not long after. yet later in town my buffer got it's bar back first. this would all be a lot easer with value base system then the bars that seam change as you level.
At this point I'm just going enjoy the fact we got it. I have many alts so will be easy to only hunt at 2 to 4 bars.
I have long ago come to the conclusion that, no matter what NC do or don't do to this game, a very large proportion of the player base will be unhappy.
People who have played as long (or longer) than I have will have seen the posts asking for Exp. events and other ways to boost your Exp..
Now, we have had our prayers answered by the Gods of Lineage II, yet you find something to complain and moan about. I see it this way. 2 weeks ago, I played and gained Exp. by killing monsters when I had the time to around my 'real life'. That isn't going to change simply because of this new Vitality system. In fact, the only difference it'll make is that I'll turn my phone off while my Vitality is > 0 (haha).
It seems to me that many people will now be running their lives around Lineage II and the Vitality system rather than the other way around, which saddens me to think about. The reason there is so much frustration is because people want to know, to the second, when they can log back in again, depending on their level or whatever... why not go back a week or two and just play to play.
Grow up some?
P.S. I clicked the "Reply" button against someone's post, but I was in no way referring to you directly.
Right, well, I've just been in for the first time on my level 31 Knight and I have to say I'm loving Gracia so far.
Gained a level in no time at all, crits popping off everywhere, most of them one-hits on the mobs I'm grinding on. Vitality hasn't dropped yet and I've gained more than 50% XP. I reckon I could level a few times at this rate!
The part that is hardest to figure is not how you regen V, but how you lose it.
Like someon else said before it seemed like lvl4 dissappeared pretty fast, then lvl3 took slightly longer, and lvl 2 lasted me almost 2 hours. BUT, when it got to lvl 1 it dissappeared after 10 minutes. How does that work???
Did I do something? I really want to know if certain things burn the V faster.

Yes but as we brought up many times before, this is not necessarily possible to discover. Because the drop rate for some items is so fing low, you could have 100 players gain 8 levels on one mob and never have it drop item X. Since no one got the drop, they will never have been able to find out that it could drop X. And since they had to spend those 8 levels on this mob, they were unable to find out what drops from any other mob of the same level which would still have suffered from the same problem.
We have brought this problem up many times to no avail. The only way to really get any real information on what drops what is to either examine the logs of bots or use the logs of a sniffer program. And this happens to exactly how we all have access to this information. If we couldn't do this, we might never have found out what drops what.

Well said Purp. My clannies and I have not changed our game style....we still party but now we like "holy %$#%, I just got 20% in an hour with you guys!"
Except for buffers (gotta feel bad for a class that folks are going "hey, we don't need them anymore")...the game play hasn't changed all that much. You're still gonna have to work for XP. Just not as hard for a short bit and that short bit makes all the difference on high levels....
It's just pure laziness to try to "work the system" and yes, I'm a CASUAL player....I maybe get to play a couple of hours a day during the week *IF* I am lucky........
