Been out of l2 for 2 years now. Came back and, finally, hit A grade (or will tonight!)
Managed to craft a Tallum plate set already, and sold enough mats and drops (yay for 2 SLS drops and a kesh drop!) to afford a A grade weapon.
Im unsure what to get though!
I party with my GF, whom is a BD, and we have a pet warcryer between us. We dont really hit the dungeons, just world grind where ever we feel like going. So im undecided on what weapon i should use!
My GF thinks just a Fallen Star with Focus, but i was concidering a Bloody orchid with Focus and swapping my 4str/-4con for +4dex/-4con instead.
My reasoning is: fast dagger takes advantage of Dance of Fury and Chant of Fury the most. It also takes the most advantage from Chant of Rage and Dance of Fire (deathwhisper's). I see focus ona blunt as counter productive since it makes its crit rate about equal to a plain sword.
She thinks that the p.atck bonus from using a blunt along with focus is a better idea.
But im really not sure!
Any opinions or advice?
Thanks alot for your time :)
I dont see alot of dorfs with daggers around a grade so i dont think the speed on dagger will outweigh the advantage of a mastery as much.
Focus on any weapon is always a good idea, so i'd say something like a big rock on a stick with focus (aka meteorshower/focus... or if there is a higher a grade 1handed stoneage weap(club/blunt) with focus, lol) and slap on a shield, go tallum heavy, +4+4/-8 +str+dex-con and just go "hooligan" on some mobs ^^
Then again, i could be completely wrong but its just the way i would do my own dorf ^^... well thats a lie... he'd be poling really :p lol
honestly speaking, if you can get your hands on an OE'd tsu*sls or even an OE'd Great Sword w/Focus, I'd highly recommend that. Our base DEX isnt all that great to begin with, on top of that using a blunt w/Focus isnt the best choice to grind as a dorf. strictly for pvp/stun purposes blunts ofcourse. but just for killing mobs, u cant go wrong with those two, specially since you have a BD and a WC with you. an OE'd damascus w/focus is good too, your atk.speed will be high compared to the duals and great sword.
with daggers you will miss, a lot, so wouldn't recommend that. :)
I have to agree with Lucy here, I'd go with a 2handed sword over a dagger too. Especially since we just obtained Fatal Strike, now we have a high power skill we can use with 2handed swords (or 1 handed if you'd rather). Duals are nice, but Fatal Strike pushes me toward 2 handed sword for sure.
I tried using SoN*SoN*4 for awhile but found i took to much damage which is why iw as tryign to keep to 1h and shield.
Also because i may do catacombs eventually with some friends in our guild we just joined, but i'd probally be the tank since there sint one in guild
1 handed weapon for faster attack speed and faster spoils
focus because crit is everything once you have death whisper and dance of fire
masteries don't mean crap once you have crit buffs so at this point you choose between a sword for more DPS or a blunt if you want to be able to stun
Best DPS weapon for dwarf is 2 weapon handed sword.
yes it is but at the cost of attack speed
since your job as a BH is to spoil and nothing else you are gonna want the extra attack speed
shield comes in handy too since you will be doing alot of the tanking
Dont know about 2 handed sword vs one or two handed blunts with focus.
The crit rate on a 2 handed sword is 40 points more then on the blunts with or without the focus sa.
On B grade the great sword has 213 patk and adds with focus sa crit rate to 148.
The 2 handed Ice storm hammer has patk of 213 too and adds with focus sa to 108.
Now for the masterys the ice stom hammer should give more patk then the great sword plus the blunt has a better accuracy while you might miss more with the sword.
For A grade we have the infernal master with focus ( i think its only infernal master and dragonslayer).
An Bareikels axe and meteor shower with focus.
The infernal master will have 259 patk with 141 crit rate
while the bareikels axe is 1 handed and faster with 251 patk and 101 crit rate. The meteor shower will have 213 patk with 101 crit aswell. I think for a grade the bareikels axe wins if u can afford it.
All 2 handed weapons have the same speed afaik.
Dagger = 433
polearms, 2 handed swords, 2 handed blunts= 325
bows = 293
all other = 379
You sure on the mastery thing ?
I dont think i will be able to do barakiels.
Since thats the new "top" A above Elysian, the heads and rec are impossible, dont think i will have the money.
I was looking though at maybe a hasted tallum blade (with tallum plate for 14%) or a Critical Damage DLE
As mentioned, iw ill do less damage with a sword, but the higher crit makes up for it. focus blunt = unfocus sword.
There is no A focus sword though, so would haste be better or crit dammage?
And still how does dagger compare going focus dagger vs Sword (SA here) ?
you'll miss MUCH more with a dagger compared to a sword. personally speaking, i say get a 2h sword w/focus. with fatal strike, wc and bd at your disposal, and quite a climb on the grind-hill, you'll be happy with your choice. for the grind, i've used my OE'd tsu*sls ever since I hit 52 all the way up to 77, and now i plan on trading them for an equally OE'd GreatSword w/Focus. gl in ur decision.
since barakiels axe is out, I'm assuming Sirras blade and Sword of Ipos are also out since there topA too. Ipos has Focus im sure, and I think Sirra's does as well, but again, they are pricey.
You seem set on getting a 1 hand weapon so you can use a shield, so between Meteor Shower, Elysian, tallum blade, and DarkLegeion Edge are your choices for low-mid A blunts and swords. Not sure which i'd personally pick out of that list, but I do agree any of those are better than a dagger. Daggers sound **** maybe, but we have horrible accuracy with them, trust me on this one, you'll miss a lot, especially if your fighting higher lvl mobs in those dungeons (red-pink mobs).
The stats i postet are the base stats of the weapons taken from the prima guide. Ye dex increases speed and crit.

With a sword you will miss much more then with blunt. With masterys accuracy and patk on blunts go also up.
An A Grade blunt with focus has 101 an A grade sword without focus got 80 crit.
So i would say choosing a 1 handed sword is bad for BH.
Its Infernal master or Meteor shower. If you dont care about focus elysian is not bad too and should also better then tallum blade or dark leagon blade because of the masterys.
if you just want high DPS and have a BD and WC buffs, i really suggest a Sword with focus SA. you also have a DD skill now when using swords/blunt.
Blunts is a good option, the patk from masteries is enough to make it usefull. although the low crit rate makes it lag behind in DPS when you start getting more buffs (crit rate/damage).
Daggers are not really a good option. too low accuracy and low patk. the higher crit rate and atk spd isnt enough to make up for the problems.
The armor is more subjective than the weapon. Different people feel strongly about different armor. I went nightmare Heavy and am pleased with everything except the feeling that I look like Santa Claus.
You can't ignore a blunt or a pole... you get a lot of masteries for those weapons... you don't get any masteries or special skills for daggers or swords. I personally have an Elysian and am quite please that I can stun **** near anything that walks my way. Stun has saved my azz more than a few times. The only bad thing is it looks a lot like a fancy fly swatter or ping-pong paddle.
Personally id go meteor shower. I play a dwarf as my main so i can tell you, yes if u have full buffs swords can make up for masteries with crits, but you miss more frequently and you cant stun. We have a [censored] dex so dwarf with a sword= medium dex class with dagger. Since you plan to tank a lot there is a high likelyhood you will be tasked to go against yellow and above mobs. This is where having a blunt helps greatly due to the accuracy bonus additionally, keep in mind when u crit with a blunt u get the 3-5 sec buff that decreases ur skill costs to 20 mp. ANY bh can tell you keeping their mp up can be an issue if there arent herbs, so this buff can mean a great deal trust me :). Also the meteor shower is the most cost effective weap out of all the weapons you are considering. Due to the fact that tal blade and dle are used in duals their prices are greatly inflated over the meteor shower. In fact on a bad day a tal blade could potentially go for 2x the price of the meteor shower.
the following is a part of the quote from a fellow L2 player:
"...A grade or lower, ANY kind of weapon that has focus is by far your best bet for pve damage. Unfortunately, most of the blunts in the game don't have focus or have risk focus or some other crap. So, any kind of duals, swords, or daggers with focus are fine for dorf. Just remember dagger has very low accuracy so you will miss a lot on mobs unless they are green to you, and daggers use a lot more shots compared to other weapons, but they do have a very good crit rate so if you can afford the shots and can hit the mobs BO/focus is the first choice for dagger.
"A note on the blunt weapons with focus... these include Meteor Shower and Blood Tornado. These are both classified and fall under the category of blunts so their base crit rate is only about 50. Add the focus SA, it's boosts the crit rate to about 100, but that is still inferior to getting any other focus weapon. A focus sword or duals starts pushing 200 crit rate (twice as good already) and a dagger is about 250 crit rate. So, focus on a blunt helps some BUT is not actually better than a sword with focus. This goes for ANY blunt, 1H or 2H it doesn't matter, blunt is really only good for dorf (or orc or glad) because it allows them to stun, but for pve without decent crit rate it's crap and the extra damage given by masteries does NOT make up for the 50 base crit rate. In fact for A grade I'd recommend an Infernal Master with focus (2H sword).
"I would only recommend a blunt for PvP since you can chain stun with it, and either health or haste are useful for creating an annoying dorf. Otherwise, unless stunning mobs is more important than damage to you in PvE, blunt is very last choice."
"A note on the blunts with focus... these include Meteor Shower and Blood Tornado.
blood tornado is a dagger or something but otherwise i fully agree with that whole post
EDIT:blood tornado is fists which is the single dumbest weapon for a dorf to use since they suck just as bad as blunts but we don't even get masteries for them
what weapon you chose bascily will depend on your amount of buffs.
"basic" WC/PP buffs: Blunt or sword, dont really matter at this point, the better accuracy and patk from masteries you get will make a blunt weapon a better choise then sword. dont even consider dagger.
PP/WC +any other critrate/damage buffs (ie sws/bd/cat): Swords will become a better choise now, especially if they have focus SA on them. Daggers is not a good option even with focus, too low accuracy and patk makes the extra crit rate useless.
regarding focus blunt. if you compare meteor shower with focus VS elysian axe the DPS of them will be almost the same, the lower patk of meteor shower makes the extra crit rate "useless" when compared to elysians higher patk.
