Thinking of starting one. Had a search but cannot find much up to date stuff especially with the Gracia patch. Are they still good when it comes to....end game raiding, PVP, able to solo?
Also a lot of people seems to say if you go archer, use a dagger for the first 50 odd levels, that really does not sound much fun, I have an alt with a few mill on him, if I throw some money across will that counter any money loss from using a bow from the get go, or are we talking millions and millions in wasted money if I do not use a dagger?
well dagger is cheaper and you only need soulshots and much less than bows who takes like 10soulshots per striken also for bows you need arrows and now you got VR from newbie guide so lvling will be much easier and faster. So use a dagger until you hit 52 , thats when you will be able to wear b grade bows which consumes like 1 soulshot per strike
Hawkeyes are still quite potent, yes. Using a dagger instead of a bow to 52 is a good idea, you will save Alot of soulshots. Its 3xsoulshots per swing with a dagger (assuming you're going top D and top C) while its 10xsoulshots for bows per arrow you shoot. The difference is huge
A lot of people say that it saves adena, but bows do like 3x more damage than a dagger. So if I did use a dagger I would be hitting a mob 3x thereby using the same amount of SS, to do equal to one bow shot, so all its really costing me more is the arrows, which is not much. Or is there a flaw in my logic here?
1. 3x3=9 not 10.
2. Dagger has high crit rate which can take a kill down to two or three swings. Means you have to 1 shot the mob 50% of the time if not more with the bow.
3. Dagger skills are much more PVE efficient.
4. A lot more town runs because you'll have to reload ss more and because you can't carry as much. In cgrade with a DS i can carry 10k of ss as a th, no such amount if you are a HE with arrows AND ss.
5. When your soloin' if you want to get those herbs and drops you have to run all the way to the dead mob then move on to a new target. Trust me it's a lot nicer to just swing, kill, pick up.
Dude i totally know how you feel. When i made my HE everyone said to use a dagger but i was like "no, i made an archer i want to shoot things!". I grinded (sp?) for a really long time. but i kept with it.
Now that i have a TH i see why they said use a dagger. It's taken me 6 days to go from 37 to 50. Only part of that was the vitality. Go dagger and you'll be Bgrade in no time. :)
