Seeing as the art of nuking in L2 is a pretty exact science, well at least it was before CT2. But its still fairly predictable, the damage spread isnt that big. And a level 30 dark wizard with SoL will have the same damage as any other level 30 DW with SoL; i am sure there is a "list" of where to go to one-shot enemies at several level ranges (much like the SH topic on the first page of this forum)
I am level 30 now, where should i go to oneshot enemies ? I have staff of life unenchanted, knowledge set for +10% matk, and standard newbie buffs
Level 20- i did plains of dion
25- execution grounds
I tried going to field of silence and nuking the 1/2 hp lizard snipers and ogres, but ive gotten killed several times, either from those stupidly unnecessary resists that seems to be quite frequent in CT2, or from them aggroing me from miles away. Each of those spears thrown my way does over 50% hp in damage so i die pretty fast. The xp pr nuke was pretty decent though, but this gets outweighed by having to run back all the time
I think i did breka stronghold. If u face up to the east, will see a ramp to the left side, go for it until arrive to some kind of plateau. Nice place, but could be camped. This is not a single shot area, but two shots is more than good in the life of a nuker.
I tried death pass, i do about 80-90% of an enemy health in 1 nuke, but after about 40 enemies i didnt oneshot a single one
So i guess i could go on even higher enemies and 2 shot them
Havent tried SoS yet, maybe im able to oneshot the eyeballs ? They should be wind weak ?
Tbh being able to oneshot them is not contingent on where i go, but i dont want to xp on enemies i almost oneshot but always have to use 2 nukes for

overhit on those and see what your xp is. The second hit that is.
Then try the regular "two hit" at SoS. Compare and then see which is better.
By the time you figure out which one is best, you could've hit lvl 40 if you had just picked a place and grinded... it seriously is nothing to grind through Dg. It takes me on average one hour to reach lvl 20 and then 7-8 hours to reach lvl 40 on any character, if I have a really good day I can go from 1 to 40 in about 5 hours.

You are making this harder than it should be. ;)
Yep, but i want to optimize the actual killing, levels arent too important, this is just an alt anyways :)
I went to SoS but got squashed pretty fast (all enemies died in 3 nukes, but i died in 2 :D)
I tried near heine again but got killed 3 times by those darn lizard snipers, all 3 times i had a slight occurence of hard drive lag and ran a tad too far and aggroed them
I am at the gorgon garden now, i kill the 2x bugbears in 2 nukes and the normal ones + harpies in 1 nuke
XP pr kill isnt all that fantastic, but im getting so many herbs i havent had to sit for 3 levels, and its safe
I did 31-40 in Field of Whispers, mostly. However, the class change quests now give quite a lotof xp, and I made sure to do kama everyday, so with lvl 2 vitality all the way it went very fast.
The objective is not to 1 shot mobs, it is to continually be killing mobs to minimize mana usage and maximize xp per buff round.
For all of the time you spend in Field of Whispers or other field mobs, you spend more time running than shooting. Find somewhere that you can 1-3 shot mobs, but that you don't overhit the mobs (do a lot more damage than their hp), so as to maximize the use of your mp. Additionally, the hunting area should have a fast spawn rate, and not require you to run far to get to the next mob, preferably without having to run at all. At level 62+, the southwest side of FotD is like this, because you can turn, shoot, turn, shoot, repeat.
From lvl 30-40, I typically take my academy toons to Ant's Nest, and depending on your support (like having recharges), it is possible to xp like this for hours and get 1 or more levels a day (pre-Vitality).
Because the mobs social agro, you will need greater heal pots and life elixirs for emergencies, which I found myself in about 1 out of 3 buff rounds, depending on whether I could keep the room clear (or between rebuffs). Once you get to lvl 35, go deeper to the Noble Ants and Warriors, and you will have no shortage of mobs close at hand.
Put at least a +3 on that SoL, it's not that expensive, and additional damage means less MP usage.
I would avoid using overhit spells in this mode, as 1) they are slow, 2) they use too much MP for the XP gain (especially at your level), and 3) they will put your XP to SP ratio out of whack since XP goes up but SP doesn't, and you may find yourself short on SP when you hit lvl 40.

Good luck.
Taking a low level nuker to ant's nest would be a bad idea, IMO.
It's perfect for melee characters, because of the constant supply of 2x mobs in close proximity. However, that's not good for a nuker unless you have great support, b/c you WILL end up doing what mages aren't supposed to do while leveling -- fighting mobs in melee range and taking damage. You will need a lot of pots, and a buffer / recharger also ready to spam heal you both to keep up your hp, and to pull aggro mobs onto him / her. You will also hemorrhage mp spamming aura burn & drains to keep your hp up. Yes, its entirely possible, but its really not ideal.
There are places (field of whispers is one) where mobs are packed quite densely, there is little running involved, you can 2 shot them, and even have a few 2x hp mobs for bonus xp. As to the "no overhit" theory, at low level the difference in sp you'll recieve if you overhit, vs. if you dont is very, very minor, and you are most likely wanting to LEVEL, not farm up SP. You will have enough SP for the skills you need @ 40, regardless. Now, unless you have died a bit you will not be able to buy out ALL skills each time, but that's not necessary.
Oh, and the reason why 2-shot is preferable to one (IMO) is that not only is it better xp (it is nearly as "fast" as one-shotting, especially buffed, and you can go after mobs with comparitively 2x hp), if timed correctly it causes (melee) mobs to drop their loot at your feet, or close. Less walking that way. Of course, for farming, being able to 1-shot w/o BSPS is great.
Anyway, if you have some pro support by all means try ant's nest, otherwise look for field mobs (also remember field mobs get a 20% xp boost simply for being "solo" mobs) that are decently packed and good for your level. Field of whispers was great for me, especially w/ vitality. I played rather casually (4 hours or less per day) and went 31-40 in probably 2.5 days, which includes doing the time-consuming class change quests on TWO characters (was dragging around a shaman due to my going PS @ 40, talk about an odd combination at that level...) I'm sure there are many other similar locations, that was just what worked for me.
