WHY?

Why is the PVP bonus you can get with fame availble for Majestic and Nightmare armors but not Dark Crystal the most used robe for healers AND nukers. How many healers are gona wear Arcana robes ever? Who can really afford S80????

and to your question. DC and Tallum are low A grade, only top A grade, S grade and low S80 grade stuff can get the PvP ability (augment)

no I never PvP...all I know id that at raids and in PvE you need good mp regen and that's where majestic comes in + the stun resist.

I personally need castspeed even in PvE. And runspeed in some rare PvP I have time to time.

Recharger = Majestic.
Healer = DC.

to be honest, if you never do pvp, majestic is the only a-grade robe set for your healer/buffer. but when i see at dynasty's stat, i want it for my EE. *sigh*

my 76 EE has a long way to go to lvl 80...maybe I will get there in 3-4 years or so.

yeah and once again NC is trying to force me to remove my tallum heavy and meteor shower :(

Yeah, then it does not matter. The bonus is pvp only, and for pvp dc is pretty good for a healer. So it sucks that you cannot get the pvp bonus on dc robes - especially for NUKERS >.<

I fought the idea that I should turn in my Majestic robes for DC as well. But once I gave in, I see the huge difference. Of course, Im usually with a recharger, so the mana regen is offset by that. And to tell u the truth, Majestic rarely saved me from being stunned. But that added cast speed and run speed of DC makes a huge difference.

Arcana robes don't seem to help a healer in any way, but does for nukers, I understand. Can't they get the pvp bonus?

Years later and the myth that armor MP regen bonuses make a huge difference is still around. I'm sorry, but the difference in MP regen between DC and Majestic is not significant enough to base armor selection on. The only real reason to go with Majestic over DC is stun resist, and many players feel that they have an acceptable level of stun resist with boss jewelry and resist buffs and opt for para resist, enhanced run speed, and enhanced casting speed instead.

Arcana has poor casting speed, so not even that many nukers favor it for PvP, but the fact that it can take attribute stones works somewhat in its favor.

Just for the record, I fought changing to DC simply because I hate the way it looks and I love the quiet elegance of Majestic. Yeah, yeah, it's all about fashion :P

Funny that you mention fashion. You see, I'm happy that DC is functional for me because Majestic Robes on DE male look AWFUL. I can handle the robe/kilt design of DC, but the bright red tights of Majestic are just plain bad :P

(An aside to the devs: for the 999th time, please introduce some new skins for DE male robes, preferably not following the unfortunate "tights" trend)

It's because they didn't expect 90% (or is it closer to 95%?) of all players on all servers in NA to be botting...

I would be more happy to play in a server with 100 players (all legit) than in the crowded bot servers we have today.

Good luck trying to PvP in NM Robes. You will die before you get a nuke off, Lol.

I tried NM Robes on my Necro, and got rid of them in the same day (traded it for a Tallum RObe set for my SE, so she wouldn't get bled/poisoned in FoTD so much :p ).

NM Robes are borderline useless in PvP for a nuker, and even in PvE they are useless because you will find it harder and harder to XP as you get nearer and nearer to 7x levels with that set. DC FTW.

NCSoft is only doing that to force people to use other sets by giving them incentives, but everyone will stick to what they have because it quite frankly is DC > Tal > Maj > NM for a nuker. Healers can wear Majestic and get away with it, Rechargers usually do for the MP (the regen is useless, and non-factor).

The only characters I see wearing NM set alot are A Grade Overlords. Usually by the time they are level 70 they have switched to DC, though. That is only because they are M.Atk-limited (like necros) for landrate and cannot apply +INT tatoos to that class.

Casting Speed on gear is generally much > than M.Atk, and NM does not have a good enough bonus to justify going from:

+15% Casting Speed and +2 WIT, +7 Run Speed

to...

+0% Casting Speed, -3 WIT, No Run Speed

The Para Resist is much much more useful than the Sleep/Hold Resistance.

NM is for PvE (and is pretty bad IMO even for that), and DC is for PvP. To put PvP bonuses on such a crappy armor set is quite frankly an insult. Nukers use DC Set all the way to level 8x for a reason...

The casting speed of a Necro in NM Robes with Acumen and Zerk is less than that of an SPS with DC Robes and no buffs... Necro with NM Robes is getting casting speed in the high 600s with NM Robes, and low 900s with DC Robes. The difference is too big, and the set is useless as a result [to nukers, at least].

They should of let us put the pvp bonus on All a grade armor. I can't put it on my Tallum heavy :(

What? The best nuker sets don't get the pvp bonuses? It's almost as if dev's thought nukers are already strong enough in pvp and don't need more boosts. How dare they not boost mages! rofl

dc robes have higher pdef than maj robes

With full PP buffs (inlcluding zerk 2 and greater shield 3) and song of earth, a level 70 SH has 837 pdef with majestic and 853 with dark crystal (both sets all +0). Only a 1.9% difference. Don't think that'll make much difference. http://l2calc.l2b lah.com/ (remove space)
