As a new player, I'm trying to find other ways to keep myself entertained while playing, and so I just started taking up fishing. And while this is a nice substitute to grinding away by myself, I get confused on a few things. The different color fishing potions is one thing, but I just tried night fishing for the first time, and was able to catch some fish that are labeled Upper Grade after the type of fish I usually catch.
So what is so special about Upper Grade Fish? I searched the forums to see if anything came up but there wasn't much information there. Should I keep or sell Upper Grade Fish? Are they for a quest I don't know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Upper grade fish are fish caught at night using night fishing lures, the term is just a way of telling them apart from normal fishing. There's nothing too special about them, but some accessory parts only come from upper grade fish (feathered hat, artisan goggles are two like that last I knew)
As for the fishing potions it works like this:
The level of your fishing expertise determines what color fish you catch. So someone that has fishing level at max level could only catch Black colored fish. However, fishing potions allows them to temporarily catch lower level fish while the potion is in effect. This is necessary because certain parts appear more frequently in lower level fish and some quests require a certain colored fish.
upper grade fish are also the only way you can get diff colored fish scales used in crafting feathered hat, artisan goggles, party hat etc. and the colored scales are also used in buying recipes from the fishing guide.
