What a year! With two major updates already under our belt, I thought this would be a perfect time to recap what has been going on and what we are planning for the upcoming months in Lineage II. 2008 has been a busy year, with a lot of changes having been made in and out of game. First let me say that I was really happy with the implementation and launch of account services earlier this year. An unanticipated amount of people have taken advantage of the gender, name and server transfer services, and I hope to be able to expand upon these in the near future. We launched the 1st Throne: Hellbound update in late April to coincide with our 4 year anniversary. That update introduced the new level cap of 85, team PvP matches in the Underground Coliseum and exciting new pets, such as the rideable Fenrir. In July, we addressed shifting server population issues by merging some of our North American servers. The feedback has been tremendous, as players are enjoying the increased competition and improved economy. Without a doubt, overall game enjoyment has reached a recent high on the new servers.
Just this month we launched The 2nd Throne: Gracia Part 1 to the live servers. I am really pleased with this update, and I encourage everyone who hasnt seen this latest content to jump back in and check it out. Now, more than ever, is the time to show your family and friends what they are missing out on! With streamlined leveling, its easier than ever to jump in with a new character and start checking out the content. The new vitality system grants you an increased percentage of experience depending on how long youve been logged out of the game, in a town or fighting raid bosses. Common items have been added that are very inexpensive to acquire at lower levels, and have just as much utility as their superior counterparts. Dwarven crafters have received some major boosts to their skills set, to make them more effective in group settings. The crafting system has been enhanced, by adding the chance to create double items (up to C-grade), and rare Foundation items that can be unsealed in Masterwork items (B-grade and up). Weve also addressed some class issues by giving the pure healing and knight classes a transformation skill that will allow for more effective soloing when activated. All in all, this quality of life update has renewed my interest and prompted me to create a couple of new characters to experience the changes for myself.
So what do we have planned for the rest of the year? First and foremost, we plan on launching Gracia Part 2 later this year. This will be our third major update for the year and represent a first in Lineage II history. Next on the list is a full schedule of in game events and out of game contests. We hope to announce the first major event soon, so stay tuned on the official forums. Speaking of forums, Alyra and Siren have been working hard this year to keep the community informed and wed like to continue this trend. Omega and I would also like to become more active on the forums and get feedback on various in and out of game topics. Look for our posts in the near future. Weve been making various improvements to the official Lineage II website. Updated fan fiction and screenshots are just a few that I feel show off and enhance our community. We look forward to continuing this process so we can make the site as great player resource as possible.
Our goal as a team and company is to make Lineage II the best it can be and provide a great gaming experience to all who log in. We will continue to try to keep players informed of whats going on in game with as much information as possible and execute on what we say we will do. As always, I look forward to reading player feedback and hope everyone is enjoying the latest Gracia Part 1 update.
Tim Ornery Tan, Lineage II North American Producer
Well thanks [edit] Ornery :o . This all does sound good.
However, and I hate to be negative, though it is exciting that we will have you and Omega more involved in the forums, I thought either you or Rust stated a while back that you guys were going to be more active?
I think there was another "State of..." message where this was mentioned.
Not to be nitpicky, but this seems very important. As it is, the increased presence as well as the greater transparency that has been shown by Alyra and Siren has been a shot in the arm for the community as it seems that we are less forgotten and that our issues are actually being heard.
Having a greater presence by both you and Omega would be great but I wonder will it really happen?

It says That the events are after next update... or so I get from this
Mr Tam, it's very welcoming to see you posting again!
I am rather surprised to see that you don't already have active characters (non-special-gm-god-type-ones) on our servers; it would most definitely give you a feel to the economy and general aura we enjoy daily. I can imagine it's somewhat different to your QA servers...
I am definitely looking forward to the upcoming events and I can but guess that the 'major' one you and your team have planned will coincide with the Halloween season which is coming up and I, for one, would love to see the squashes back - bigger, badder and better.
When you create your toons and level them high enough please check out Vraka Selinos area on the Phoenix server, there are some wonderous sights to behold.
Ty for the post Tim, alot of people have been enjoying the new update. My fiance who quit after a 14 day trial a few years back, decided to give it a try again, and a few days ago he said "I'm addicted". So thanks to whoever is trying to revive the game.
I am so super excited about Gracia 3 release. What better christmas present than to ride an airship to the new continent ;)
I hope you really keep up with updating the community with little posts like this, although not all that informative, it helps give the impression that the players are not here alone :)
lets just ponder for a bit - WHAT items in lineage2 has really ever been profitable? well, buff scrolls, QHP, enchants, and that ONE time when they handed out AQ rings for spelling Lineage2. the SA crystals, as well.
apart from that, every time an event handed ANYTHING less, the population cries. and when its all free with no effort (i.e. buy these boxes, open them for a prize) the population again cries.
i'd say these "make the events a good one" posts are sleight of hand at most. desperate plea for free adena at worst.
if i was NC i would stop the events altogether. it worked for the past year, and through server transfers and merging servers. its proof we dont need events and are content with the content that exists already.
well, i can count the number of people ASKING for events on one hand from the past year.
every event before that has been THOUSANDS of "this caters to farmers" or "this event clutters my inventory" or "this event didnt pay me big money" or "i spent hundreds of millions on this item and during the event i got 2 as drops!"
the complaints can be stopped by NOT giving events. and i would NOT hate NC for doing that.
And none of those are reasons to do away with events. If you're the kind of person who says, "they only complain, why bother?" you really need to look for a new line of work. Ditch diggers rarely get complaints from the masses.

just my advice for good ol' timmy.
And LineageII's population is at an all time low? :S
I'm up for a few events! Base Mat drops would be great. Scrolls, AQ rings or anything while you grind. If you don't want them throw them on the ground. I really miss the squash/pumpkin events. Image cracking open a large squash and finding 1000 SoP! That would be great!
Oh yeah, can I drive the airship? Well Alyra can I? Please...
Before you do this -
"updated fan fiction and screenshots are just a few that I feel show off and enhance our community. We look forward to continuing this process so we can make the site as great player resource as possible."
Please god, change the skill listings and other weapon information that has been in game for month's, and not updated.
2nd. I Miss the events, and i would love to see more. Preferably the ones that bring the community back together (For example, i still cherish the fun i had during the very first Raid Boss event).

Forgot about that squash, that one was a blast too.

I don't agree with him but I see his point.
After every event someone complains. I've come to notice that there are so many complainers on game forums that I wonder if someone did a study, what would they find?
And I don't think he is wrong when he says that for some, "make it a good one" is a think veil for "I want adena".
Then again I do want adena so "make it a good one" :p
Oh, I don't disagree that updating the events would be a great thing. However, to Spud it's all or nothing. If someone complains, kill it. For everyone.
A marketing friend once told me that for every person that gives positive feedback about 10-15 will give negative feedback. Does that mean it's a failure? No, it just means that complainers are far and away more vocal.
How many people do you know that will go out of their way to talk to a manager at a restaurant when they've gotten great service (my wife does this since she used to be a waitress)? Now how many will go out of their way to talk to a manager when they get poor service? It's simply human nature.
More events is good.
Better events is better.
No events is wrong.

no, elro, far from it.
theyve been trying for 4 years to get events right. they did one awesome event, and it seems repeating that event is either out of the question or they just arent able to balance it to the new L2. after 4 years its time they did something right, or so one might imagine.
bad events is better than no events. but no events would AT LEAST stop the waaaaaaaaammmbulances.
I remember when the Pig event was going on, I visited Hunters Village and shouted if anyone there was alive. Of the dozens of "players" there, I think one actually had a living person behind the keyboard. I did manage to find some free drops, thanks to bots having trouble with path-finding.
I have no problem with Events, but would like to see an Events that are harder for bots and farmers to visibly exploit.
Note: I think the Wondrous Cubic is great! Kind of hard for bots and farmers to exploit a "once every 24 hours" item that much. Likewise with the Kamaloka.
No spud, with no events, we have people complaining that there are no events. Just count the threads of people asking for a new event.
In the service industry there will always be complaining but if the company just rolls over and stops giving what the players want, they might as well just file bankrupt and close down, cause they will eventually kill themselves.
i did. the NUMBER of people complaining is far far far far far fewer than the number of people who complain AFTER or DURING events.
in fact that number is 1 hand worth. i have mentioned this in my first post.
You mention the word 1 hand quite a lot.
Lol, I'm just messing with you ;)
Good events, bad events, whatever events is better than no event because every event equals ++++ adena in our inventory, no matter how much it sucks.
this attitude makes you a minority. take a look at all the general forum posts from 3 years back. take a look as each event is mocked, ridiculed and generally bashed by 9 out of ten posters in each thread. in each event, however, there ARE some players that liked it. that appreciated the effort if not the quality of the event. but those people are the minority.
if at first you dont succeed try try again, right?
I bet it is the same posters everytime which is the people who spam on here daily. This website doesn't get more than a dozen views at a single time other than Tuesday during maintenance or PTS or something.
The views on here are NOT the views of people in game. They are the views of the select few who are bored at work or at home.

Your "awesome" event is someone else's "crappy" event. There will never be 100% agreement as to what is a good event. People thought the subclass change event was great. Didn't affect me in the least. However, I know that in the 4 years of playing L2, there has been more than one good event for me.
bad events is better than no events. but no events would AT LEAST stop the waaaaaaaaammmbulances.
You are seriously deluding yourself to think that any event will be without complainers. Again, it's human nature.

true enough. i HATED the dafstin's event and i preferred the hair colour change potion event. but i know that a LOT of people liked the dafstin event and from the people who i read daily it would seem that particular event would please the masses.
but to what avail? yes there will still be bugs, crashes, server restarts, etc just like last time. there will be campers, pvpers, and clans that hoard bosses. and people will complain. for the praise people gave the event, and continue to give so, i dont see it.
you are right, no one event will break NC's streak of bad events. not even one so great as dafstin.
for that i say stop the events. work on the existing code. give me dual core support, give me multi gpu support, give me streamlined error free coding, give me a working alpha shader. give me a game that has LESS bots if not a bot free one. as it is, simple grinding on mobs, doing kamalokas, regular raiding, and support of clannies is the source of my higher level gear. i can survive and have fun in L2 without events. certainly without an event that drives off clannies.
the Pig event pushed away more clannies than i care to remember right now.
What is the Dafstin event? And the piggy event pushed away clannies? How?
If it's what I think were talking about, it was an Invasion of Mobs and Raid bosses that would spawn around town's, and out in the fields, at certain times. It had a good story behind it, good rewards, and it was just mayhem (The first time around anyways).
It culminated at the end (Atleast on Gustin) With giran being over run outside one of the gates, and a GM controlled boss slaughtering a few hundred people who were outside the gates going after the mobs (Deep AL Karicks and others if i remember correctly).
It was probably the most fun i've ever had in L2, aside from 1 or 2 seiges here and there.
piggies that a) did not look like piggies b) you shot a love arrow at to loot c) you had to farm on your main for a chance to beat a farmer.
dafstin was the raid boss spawning event during c1 or c2 that was precursored by several announcement messages to the tune of "a great evil is approaching" etc and for which people pvp'd over, essentially defining the server control at the time. but remember c1 and c2 people were in bad gear, with low skills, in their 50-70 ranges. few made it high up.
nowadays in order to make it worth the time to participate, these bosses would need to be no lower than 77.
which screws over a surprising number of people. hence, complain over "the greatest" event in L2 history.

Not really, 2 of the now existing towns didn't exist back then. It was always level based by area, so you just give Rune and Goddard the level 80 types, Aden the 70's, Giran the 50 and 60's, just like the original one.
There were a lot of people enjoying the lower level boss's, I don't see why it wouldn't work now. That's why having a bunch of alts. is fun.
Either way, I don't want a carbon copy of that. The story is what made it interesting. I dont see why they couldn't do something along the same lines with a Gracia invasion.
I wasn't around for the piggies, but it sounded pretty lame when i read about it, lol.
Are you Kidding I still have my bows of love and I will go forth and spread warm fuzzy feelings from time to time. Stopped a Massive siege in Aden once, they hugged, held hands, it was a butiful sight.
I always liked the events. Waiting at work all week for the Friday night event. Kinda sparked the game a little each time there was an event!
for that i say stop the events. work on the existing code. give me dual core support, give me multi gpu support, give me streamlined error free coding, give me a working alpha shader.
Doh, they don't support dual core. Is that why my log in screen is so lagggggggy?
Ahh, okay. I know the Dafstin event, then, I think. It was early C3, Independence Day event?
I had just been playing for about a month when the raid bosses appeared outside of Giran and everyone on the server showed up out there. A friend that was much higher level than me (he was 56 o.O) let me be in their group and I even got my own share of the loot, which was great stuff.
It was hella fun... and the first time I'd experienced the lag from that many people in one place. Then we went to Dion and Oren... I'd never been to the northern parts of Aden at that time... so it was really lots of fun for me.
Ya, ya, I vote for another one of those!!!
I also liked the other Raid Boss event where they dropped all the mats necessary to make B and A grade items. The bosses would just hang out in their spots until we gathered enough to go for it. That was fun too, and very profitable!!
RE: Piggie event. I really loved it. It was so relaxing, when you didn't have anything to do really, to go to Rune or HV and pull that bow at the lil piggies.... I loved the animations, I loved the sounds... and at the time I was at war with Little Pigs, so it was ironic as well!!! :)
See, I hated the Piggie event. I loved the C4 event when they placed special RB's that dropped special stuff. I loved the bunny event, that one was AWESOME.
It's all a matter of personal opinion, really. I hated the piggie event simply because I wanted to come to my PC and level AND still be able to take part on the event. Not that I had to spend hours and hours killing pigs with a very slow killing rate to even bother getting stuff. Not to mention that it was bots and farmers galore.
Now the bunny event was very fun and I think it was the best one since the last C4 event. You could hunt normal mobs and participate on the event. You could become a bunny and participate on the event. You could get stuff and sell for a profit or you could take a shot on an item that you wanted but couldn't afford. It was nice overall to everyone, not just farmers and bots.
But then again, it's also like Elro said. There will ALWAYS someone that will be complaining. Like Armie loved the Piggie event, I hated it. Like someone might have hated the bunny event while I loved it. You can never satisfy everyone 100%
They really need to do the events that everyone loved and wanted to do. The pumpkin/squash event was a blast (especially after you learned the secret to level them to perfect everytime) and they gave great drops that you could sell, or use because you couldn't afford them. I also loved the random mob spawns that dropped tons of mats/key mats (one suggestion they make them spawn quicker and more spots, hated running to a spawn point and them all dead 2 minutes after the announcement.) Do NOT bring the in town piggy event with the stupid bows. Such a waste of time. The lineage2 letters was also a good event. I also liked the color orbed one.
What about the state of BOTS EVERYWHERE in Lineage II?
I reckon most people are more interested in what you have done (obviously nothing) and what you will do (probably nothing) about those bots, than your preach on implementing more pay services aka Garcia part 2.
you're so much obsessed with bots. take it easy, this is a game at end of all.
Yeah a game where you pay under a fake EULA, where some players seem to be protected of getting banned, and a lot more i have no patience to type
I wonder if all the players start botting and screw the rest how NC would feel!
Maybe thats the goal really dunno
if you don't like the game, you must cancel your account and stop playing. if you still play, you like its features, including even what you don't really like. what's up, huh? :)
Did you see me typing anywhere something close to dislike the game??
I play this game for years did u miss that??
I just tired of playing something where you cant do a [censored] cause ******ed ppl who only know to play in two ways
1st licking others [censored]
2nd botting day and night
But the problem are that players?
No, the problem is not the players, the problem is no actions from NcSoft, or actions getting cancelled over some ppl petitions, posts, whatever. Common answer from the players who call themselfs (Pro) is something like "i play this game for years i already level a toon on other server so now im tired and want the End Game" and bot their way up, they appear in 3 months in Full S gear with +6 armors and insane weapons. And dont come say me anyone is good on economy, or lucky to get full gear on first attempts, and he got all mats by himself. You know is impossible dont play with me, and even if you believe that when they show you the epics what u say?
He killed a full party and got all epics dropped at once?
Yeah i like the game, more than you think, i like my Clan friends and always miss them, but every game i played so far i used to fight to be the best and have players fighting for that in my side, here thats impossible to do in a legit way, a lot call me ****** things like noob and crap cuz i hate botters, others come talking [censored] to defend them.
And right now im only thinking in my friends, if i continue is for them not anything else.
Well, sorry, the problem isn't NCSoft's only. If people didn't feel the NEED to cheat or bot or buy adena, there would have been nothing to worry about.
If there are our automated friends, adena spam and all that, it's because SOME PLAYERS made it so. If everyone played legitly to start with, NCSoft wouldn't have anything to worry about.
I find it funny when people only blame NCSoft only for the problem. Yes, they are slow in doing things and sometimes do nothing, but the cheating players are just as well to blame.
Well, sorry, the problem isn't NCSoft's only. If people didn't feel the NEED to cheat or bot or buy adena, there would have been nothing to worry about.
The problem is what kind of people NCsoft policies attract.
Well, sorry, the problem isn't NCSoft's only. If people didn't feel the NEED to cheat or bot or buy adena, there would have been nothing to worry about.
To a point, maybe. People will cheat at, literally, anything. If you start with this truism as a basis, then it is up to NCSoft to set the tone. They need to ban, often, hard and permanently.
I have read so many instances of people, who are admitting they were blatantly botting, then go to NCSoft with some made-up or sob story, and get their accounts back. It is sick and it is sad.
The honest opinion on other forums is that suckers play legit and there is not much risk in botting. This is NCSoft's fault alone.
yeah-yeah. i know you're stressed and depressed. i know, you have bad life, bad reality, bad surroundings and bad job. i know you can't have joy even in the game. these all phenomenon are because you want too much from people. you must lower your expectations and sun becomes again bright, dark turns into light. be patient and tolerant, and people will follow you. :)
Back to the events, the trick to making money off the events is wait till wayyyyyyyyyyyy after the event is over, I still have a ton of Mask of spirits and Demon horns (selling during the event for like 10K NOW im selling them for over 2 mil)
Honestly though, events have been severly lacking, Any kind of event would be good to me hell even the arrow run event >.> (yes I acaully took part in that LOL).
As someone said earlier the Wonderous Cubic is the closest thing to an event in game as weve seen in awhile, so far Ive been able to do well by it, but Im already starting to get tired of the day in day out grind hell i wouldnt mind grinding to get event items it would make grinding a bit more fuin imo.
@ Spud yeah there may be alot of griping during/after an event, but honestly I dont think that some of the events last long enough exspecially for the casual player who plays 2-3 hrs a day. the last heavy metal event it took me alomost the whole event period justto get the LVL 11 Cry I needed to sa my Carnage, Im a causal player.
The pumpkin/Squash events rulled imo, and since we havent had any L2 "souvniers" in a long time I think that it would be good.
just my thoughts
PS Im Looking forward to the next release of the game, but, I think that events are important as well, they lower economy (for at least a short time) they do put money in poor peeps pockets (in the long run) and they give a break of the normal grind.
PS if you have a full inventory on a toon make a storage toon to hold all your event items.
randomly spawned.... un announced events (well pre announced....)... an event which just happens to occur at a time where you happened to be logged in at the right time.....
An example of which would be a raid boss, spawned outside in the world somewhere.... and requireing the group effort of many people to kill... Just like the event raid bosses, but solo, and occuring at unspecific times.
Just imagine the sudden pull of that thought for a second as an example.
Your in game, doing whatever your doing, suddenly a global announcement is made that such and such a monster is at such and such a place causing havoc. Everyone makes thier way to the place and finds lets just say .... anthras.. sitting outside the walls of oren castle town. And then the fun really starts as people start to mount up. Drops and experience from this creature of increased beyond the norm.
I think an event like that would be beneficial only to the upper clans leaving the "little people" out of it. They would kill peeps so they can have it to themselves. So would have to have an event that would include "everyone" and not the precious few who feel they are entitled to everything.
I personally think the market is a mess. I really wish that A weapon recipes would become much more available including that of 100%. The market is set up in such a way now that people are "forced" to ebay or to bot in order to keep up with the others who did the aformentioned. I think its a vicious cycle now that has gotten completely out of hand. Also, I think that banning bots on site or reducing the number of farmers is also causing the market to fail. I'm not in any way justifying what is happening only stating what I think is happening. There are far less options in the market now in regards to superior weapons as they are called now. Crafting is wilting as well due to the lack of recipes. I have tons of mats for various weapons/armors but very few recipes. 60% recipes can be devastating if you fail a couple in a row due to the prices of everything. I realize there will be those who swear that they can make so much money so fast and are so legit. I say "whatever". The market has clearly changed, crafting is worse than ever due to lack of recipes (especially 100%), and people are forced into either botting or ebaying in order to keep up with those who have gotten away with it for so long. So my prediction is this: If you ban more bots, farmers, and allow the market to go as it has been, you will in the long run destroy the game. I know this is a touchy point because it looks like I'm defending bots, ebayers, and farmers but I am not. I am simply saying that just banning people is not the solution. What the solution is I do not know but continue to reduce the number of players in the game and allow the market to crumble and it wont be long before the final merge is called into place. Also, taking forever to have events probably doesn't help either.
Our goal as a team and company is to make Lineage II the best it can be and provide a great gaming experience to all who log in. We will continue to try to keep players informed of whats going Ion in game with as much information as possible and execute on what we say we will do. As always, I look forward to reading player feedback and hope everyone is enjoying the latest Gracia Part 1 update.
Tim Ornery Tan, Lineage II North American Producer
I laughed hard, sorry ornery you and all other mods failed doing this, the only feedback is what i can recommend you and your team is login more and see what lineage is becoming or alrdy is, a place for ppl selling chars, items ,and making good money of it to bot up their chars everywere and selling time for good money and i mean not for 50 bucks but way more ,ppl that are legit are leaving this game cause its hard to find a place to exp. the game looks nice to see and updates also, i give you a warning and hope you read it, if you launch Aion and it goes life be online more cause the programma's to bot their chars up alrdy made.
listen to people more and their feedbacks read it here and do something bout your petion system cause thats a failure also.

I laughed hard, sorry ornery you and all other mods failed doing this, the only feedback is what i can recommend you and your team is login more and see what lineage is becoming or alrdy is, a place for ppl selling chars, items ,and making good money of it to bot up their chars everywere and selling time for good money and i mean not for 50 bucks but way more ,ppl that are legit are leaving this game cause its hard to find a place to exp. the game looks nice to see and updates also, i give you a warning and hope you read it, if you launch Aion and it goes life be online more cause the programma's to bot their chars up alrdy made.
listen to people more and their feedbacks read it here and do something bout your petion system cause thats a failure also.

do you really think that geting rid of bots will make you happy? Any game ANY game in the world will have bots + sellers\buyers for real money. You get rid of bots = you kill a game. You don't want to bot? it is equal to 'I don't want to have sex before marriage!' Are there virgins at 25-6-7-8-9? yes there are still some, are they against sex before the marriage? yes they are. Can they really do anything about it, or should I rephrase it: can they do anymething with WORLD'S life style? Can a bunch of pps actually fight the world? The answer is: no, you\they can't do anything.
Why do you think Korea is not against bots at all? Because life goes on all the time and it has changed since la2 beta was introduced. You either adopt or simply die.
And yes, I know it's not a good thing to support botting but let's face it: there is no actual way around it. As a result of boting you have much more time to spare for you family/work/friends. And then it comes to lineage you simply relax and enjoy playing not more than 2-3 hours per day and not worried about diying at 80+ with no Brez or no bish rez....
Faster, better, easier more productive - so, why not do it? As a result I almost never say "hi" to ppl on a hunting ground casue I know they are botting and I'm thinking of quiting la2 now because of my principles...but, maybe it's better to start botting? ......... *don't know*
just lol to the person asking in official forums "why toons names are different colors, like yellow/blue/black"
and a few days after wonders:
"I'm thinking of quiting la2 now because of my principles...but, maybe it's better to start botting?"

loled hard on TEH principals.
evil botters, you ll burn in cyber-hell.
maybe you simply can't understand the reason I've mentioned about colorful names. I did it for a joke. I know that a person who says that using bots. And maybe I didn't put 'lol' in the end of my reply to show that I was kidding, but man... you are so much mistaken about me :)
P.S. sometimes you have to do smth. not to get bored at work :p
I can't in good conscience show my friends or family anything of L2 when you're not doing anything about cheaters and never have, and don't appear to have it on your list of priorities.
Also, I believe you that your goal is to provide a great gaming experience to all who log in. Including bots which seem to make up the vast majority of said logger-inners.
If bots are the vast majority it is because it has been allowed by NCsoft. Nothing more and nothing less. Why do I have to do a GM's job? Why do I have to be reporting around botters over and over again. Sometimes you just can't play and it's because some guy who's not even there takes a spot and if you kill him its bad for you, if you report him you waste time by doing so (take screenshots, going to website etc) so... come on!
There should be like a special command to Force Disconnect another user. A skill that you could use once every 24 hours and that when you use it, the other player receives a notification with a written code. If he doesn't write the code within a couple of minutes (to allow time if a real player is hunting and another person tries to D/C him) then he (would be cool that his whole party too) gets disconnected and given a 24 hours ban.
This would be a good way to stop botters, or maybe delay them for 24 hours. Players would be happier, Violators get penalized, and NCsoft doesn't lose money. It's a win-win option :)
how much easier can I put it?
Now cons - some ppl would be trying to force d/c other ppl just for fun... solution- it could be a party command, a party of 2 should use that command at same time (well 10 secs delay from first to the other) that way you have a witness and also the 24 hours reuse is a cool thing to avoid that.

how about it?
It would also be a very good way to grief or spam other players.
Especially during pvp.
All games that are triple A games have bots. They just do.
Could NC be faster in banning bots? Oh yes! Can they eliminate them? Well, no other game has so the answer is no.
People point to private servers eliminating bots but quite frankly, when you have a server that can be wiped at any time and is under the control of mercurial private cm's it isn't really good business practice to invest time and money into supplying them.
the second market for games is big business, Huge business. And people involved in this business are going to make sure that they invest in whatever they need to in order to stay in business, better bots, better programs, etc. Heck, if they had to they could just do what they used to do and just hire real players. I seem to remember a time in L2 when there were real farmers manning those toons. So that would invalidate any sort of real time safe guard that could be implemented.
Quite frankly, with all the real world money changing hands for in game items, I bet it puts game companies in a bind as they know money is being made but not only is there nothing they can do about it, they are bound by conventional practice to not take advantage of it.
how do you think GM will define if it's a bot? by simply not responding to Gm pms? Is there smth. about this in terms & conditions? If there is - quote for me plz. Becasue I may (fpr example) play my char, soloing, and be very mad at that moment and don't want to answer ANY pm! Including GM's. So... how can u define he/she/we are botting?
Also guys sitting afk in town, obviously neither botting nor on their PCs (concept of sell/buystores). So someone got better prices than you and you can simply kick him out for 24h?? I dont think so.

If you can't see that a player is botting within few minutes then I wonder what game you have been playing the last few years.
Not responding to PMs or chat isn't = botting
If a botter isn't afk he can reply to the PMs or chat while botting hes [censored] off.
So by seeing if you get a reply or not is not a vallid way to check for bots.
Ways to see if a player (solo...no buffbots) bots:
1. the way bot stops before it starts to attack (usualy at attack range, but sometimes it will apear at longer range from the mobs to).
2. the way the bot turns if a new mob spawns at a closer range or someone kills the mob before the bot is in range.
3. sits down and stands up like mad when the HP is low and you or a mob attack.
4. sometimes they always run to one special spot if there are no mobs in the area it is set to fight in.
5. some pick up only certain herbs/items at the same rate as you would by spamming pickup.
I could write a few more points, but I don't want to waste more time on this..
oh and I didn't forget to put that they don't use shots because some bots do use shots and some legit players don't use shots because they can't afford it.

#13 from the RoC: "You will follow the instructions of authorized personnel while in Lineage II or on the Official Website."
Well, HGMSpam was very easy to discern who was a "bot" when he did his sweep of Bartz. You all applauded him for it. I even know a couple that were unbanned when they presented their case to NCSoft.... but most were never reactivated.
I love this game and after reading the OP I really do love the comunity. with all the changes its fired me up to lvl my char even though im far off from S grade the Vitality really has helped alot. the common items are brilliant due to the fact i really dont think i could have afforded a tallum glave and now i have the option of using one. but this is not my intent to go on with my personal gain here.
One of the things im sad i dont see is that beyond my friends and going to E3 I would have never heard of this game. is the any game advertising we might ever do? I've seen endless comercials with Mr. T and the wee lil guy from austin powers "Mini Me" and thier love for thier char of WoW. not to mention the Awesome Southpark "Make love not warcraft" which i feel identifies with l2 200X more than WoW >_< the grind the hatred forpeople who pk you when your doing nothing but questing or grinding away in a cata. and then the army of lowbies running out to fight the b grade griefer.
I do know we had a music video back in c2 erra it looked like c2 erra http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaTV6dENFds&feature=related
but beyond that and the videos that are released i want to see more effort to get new players. i laughed when someone from my old clan AncientHeroes said "Aeowen is like the Kevin Bacon of hindemith" cause i in some way or another have gotten around to where a majority of people actualy knew me. or heard of me... and while its all good in well it would be nice to go help a lowbie and them not say "im just an alt my main is ___________ " to which i reveal who my main is and low and behold... just partied with them not long ago or they were someone i was once clanned with eons ago. but really its just recycled players... I WANT A REAL NOOB!
With the server merges it was cool in my opinion cause a whold world of people I DONT KNOW! good bad who knows maybe more friends and a few more enemeies. this game has always given me that sense of danger vs WoW or other mmo's cause i could be killed by other players anytime i leave a village.
I want to see L2 Everywhere! when i read my yahoo mail and i see that lil advertisement in the corner with WoW i wanna see LineageII!!! when i go to fileplannet i wanna see a big picture of BAIUM with a message like "Are you brave enough?"
We got one hell of an update "Gracia - Part 1". We lost most if not all of the NC Staff. The future of L2 is unclear to the players and i'm sure Siren feels as if she is being stretched six ways from sunday.
The reason why so many ppl use bots is alowed multi-boxing. It would be much harder to bot without **** buff-pets. But it's alredy too late to change that...
...
The reason people bot is the horrible grind that this game requires you to do. It takes forever to get anywhere. Dualboxing doesn't have anything to do with it (Don't believe me? Look at all the people botting solo, lv30-60 areas have lots of solo bots.)

WTH that's not the problem at all. The problem is they don't get banned for botting.
Stick 2 the real Issues and not your own personal frustration. ;)

one way to do that, is close all private server, but thats not gonna happen ...
our game is the game with the most private servers (i think) ... just check on google/yahoo search and you will find out what i say :P
ppl is playing on private servers for free and easy, and thats why they are not taking place at official servers ...
People bot because, even if you are a no lifer playing 12 hours a day, it will take you 3-4 months to get from 79 to 80 unless you are in some uber exp party. Even then, you usually end up having to box multiple high level support out of party. This game is brutal. The only reason there are so many 80+ in the first place is because of destroyer aoe leveling, which is no longer possible.
The majority of 80+ wouldn't be 80+ without it, and it's sad watching someone try to play catch up with them. So new players that want to play with the big boys have 2 choices: bot for 1-2 months 24/7 or play 12 hours a day live for 4 months.
I think it's criminal ncsoft bans people for botting, when they practically force you to do so. It goes without saying that it's equally unethical to allow people to bot to the point where they can reach those levels and then ban them later on... nc take your money, they take your time, then they take your account :<
In before level 60 4 year "veterans" throwing in their 2 cents...
...

Who cares about noob areas, look at the higher lvl zones, like WoS, WoA, IoP... Mostly one nuker and bunch of support. And how easy it would be to bot solo in such areas? I think that would be far too dangerous and it would force ppl to play instead of botting.
And now about "that horrible grind"... If you realy think that way - why the hell you even bother to play this game? Or maybe you use bot too? Personaly I enjoy grind, and grind is ~95% of this game. Now i'm 77lvl STS, playing ~1hour per day and getting ~1% exp thanks to vitality system. Yep, it's not very fast, but where the hell should i hurry? I love hunting mobs at IoP and hoping for a lucky FS drop from time to time, i enjoy clan activities such as fortress sieges, raids and helping clannies with various quests... It's realy fun game and it realy isn't necessary to use theese bots and multi-boxes to get fun.
WTH that's not the problem at all. The problem is they don't get banned for botting.

Well, this is the reall issue. Alowed multi-boxing and no actions agains bots is deadly combination. Don't you agree, Ashley?

About the Botting part yes but I have noting against Multi-boxing as long as its done with in game macros only no 3rd party software.
It's gotten so bad I Watch 2 people both with a 9 Party BOT train take a Fortress with a little help with some friends. A ****** could see that the 2 main Parties Were Bots supporting the main yet no one said a thing or even cared. That's Just how relaxed people are getting with Botting on the servers.
I didn't even bother reporting them becasue that is about as usefull as the Skill Charm.

I observe almost the same picture every day. And I don't report them to save my precious time after work for playing, and not typing "sljssdf" and "aldkjawero1nnr" and "jeoi23jlnf" names....
