What tattoos should a SE have?

Like what tattos will enhance what i have or make heals a little better E.T.C. TYVM in advance..:)
First thing you definitely want to have is a +4 WIT tattoo. You have to go -MEN for that one (cannot modify INT as a healer class), it depends on your money if you want to go for -4 MEN or -5 MEN (-5 is lots cheaper).

Next, you should probably go +4 CON / -4 (or -5) STR. Having more HP never hurts, and you do not really need STR. +CON also influences how much you can carry and your chance of being stunned. Getting AOE stunned by mobs is very annoying.

The last tattoo then really is personal preference. Either go one more +1 WIT for casting speed (+5 total from tattoos is max you can have), or go maybe +4 DEX / -4 STR for a bit more run speed.

I personally went +5 WIT / -5 MEN and +4 CON / -4 STR and am pretty happy with it so far.
WOW tyvm ^^
One thing about going -MEN is that your total pool of base MP drops as does your MP regen rate. Just FYI.

True, but it is SO worth it in the case of the SE. You need the casting speed, and you do not lose all that much from your max mp. And the decrease in mp regen is totally negligible.
where do you get the 4+ dye? I only see the 1+ dye.
You can get from Trader of mammon
So..o.o i gotta look for him in a whole bunch of catacombs..? o.o
Oh, it is worth it, but usually not until after lvl 52, when you get much better bonuses for B grade robes versus C grade robes. Pre 52 it hurts a bit more is all.

but a waste and lost of good MEN. better 2 pony up the adena and get a good tattoo then end up with a cheap bad one and get an infection. :)
Saruon, don't worry at all about decreasing your SE's MEN. A lot of people exaggerate the downsides of taking away from MEN, but the truth is that the negative consequences are quite minimal, especially for leveling. Back when good tattoos were rare and expensive, I ran around with something like -11 MEN and still functioned just fine. Now, I don't actually recommend doing that since good tattoos are now easy to come by, but the point is that your MEN can take a pretty big hit before you even begin to notice the effects.

First, the most noticeable hit is to your mdef, which does drop a little, but nothing drastic. Second, the effects on MP regen are negligible. As for your max MP pool, that's rarely important since there is no correlation between your max MP and how quickly you regenerate lost MP.

There is, however, a correlation between MEN and general debuff resistance that seems pretty impossible to quantify. I can tell you, however, that with a total of -7 MEN on my SE (-5 from tats, -2 from DC), I don't experience undue problems. If I recall, MEN is also supposed to affect the rate at which your spellcasting can be interrupted by receiving damage, but this also seems to be a non-issue. Simply based on personal observation, it doesn't seem that high MEN characters enjoy significantly lower rates of spellcasting cancellation than those with low MEN.
My SE has this tattoo setup which is perfect for end game.

+4 Wit - 4 Men (faster casting)
+4 Con - 4 Str (more HP)
+ 4 dex - 4 Str (faster running)

I cant melee worth a crap but now with the nuker transformation who needs melee?

I have yet to hear any different setup that anyone believes is better for a high lvl Shillen Saint.

If you have limited funds I would just get +4 wit - 4 men as that is the one tattoo that helps you with your healing, it makes a huge difference in your cast time. The other 2 tattoos are not as important, but they help. If you are on an even tighter budget you can get the +4 wit -5 men dyes in giran, i believe they are around 45k each so 450k for the lot of 10. The decreased men makes a very negligible difference at higher lvls(60+). I have never seen the difference at lower lvls because they didnt have tattoos when I was lower lvl.

This is true and really needs to be emphasized. Lots of players criticize others for "gimping" their MEN, "destroying" their mp regen rate and losing lots of max MP. But the simple fact is that you can reduce MEN without basically any negative effects at all.

Just to throw some numbers into this discussion:

lvl 80 SE, maj robes, tat jewelry set

no tats:

unbuffed: 3749 max MP, 19.4 mp regen / tick sitting, 14.2 standing
with bts6: 4605 max MP
mdef 929 / 1176 with magic barrier 2

-5 MEN tats:

unbuffed: 3631 max MP, 18.7 mp regen / tick, 13.7 standing
with bts6: 4446 max MP
mdef 890 / 1124 with magic barrier 2

So -5 MEN cost you:

118 max mp unbuffed / 159 mp with bts6
39 mdef / 52 mdef with magic barrier 2
0.7 mp/tick regen while sitting, 0.5 while standing (i.e. 14 mp per minute or 280 mp when sitting for a whole buff round, or 10mp/200mp while standing)

If you are on an even tighter budget you can get the +4 wit -5 men dyes in giran,

again if your budget is that tight that you can't get +4 wit -4 Men then i suggest you wait till you have the money. your just going waste money down the line.

now -5 STR +4 CON I can understand but the -5 MEN +4 MEN no don't waste your money

I had +4 wit -5 men for the majority of c2 and a few weeks into c3 and when I switched to +4 wit -4 men I did not notice any difference in regen and it was like 20 mana total difference. I was 70+ at the time I changed tattoos.
The difference between base wit and +4 wit is huge.

When I made my EE sub I went -10str +4dex +4con right away and was kinda hesistant wether to apply +4wit -5men or to wait for mammon.

I decided to go for the -5men then because the difference of that additional -1men is really really really small and doesn't justify the immense additional costs. At least not on lower lvls.

Given if it was my main and it was high lvl and I wanted to squeeze out max potential I'd drop the tat in favour of a +4-4 but for small party/solo lvling in lower lvls it's no difference whatsoever.

So basically if you can/want to afford it get +4-4 but if you can't/don't want to then don't be afraid to go +4-5.

So I'd say:

-x str +4dex
-x str +4con
-x men +4wit

x=whatever you want to afford.

You could argue that +5wit would be better, but personally I think that the added run speed+HP/Stun resi/weight limit of dex+con beat the slightly higher cast speed/mcrit rate of 1 wit.
That's personal preference tho really.
I was just saying it's a waste of money. like you said you did it but change it later. that meant the money you paid for the cheap ones and the money for putting the tattoos on and taking it off so you can put on the better ones was wasted. Just trying save the OP money. If money tight why waste it. ;)
not really :o back in c2 +4 wit -5 men was around 1-2mil each dye and +4 -4 was 5mil+ per dye. In c3 blacksmith of mammon came into the game :) so I bought it with AA 178k AA each woot!!

SO I saved money by doing +4 -5 first. For most people who arent into end game PVP the +4 -5 is cheaper and easier to get. 450k opposed to 1.78mil Ancient Adena for your tats.

ahhh I see your point. I didn't even get into tattoos till i started farming the catts for AA.

The point is that it's plain stupid to think "oh my, I 'm tight on money. I better wait until xx+ before i get my tatoos and run without any till then". The +4wit give too much of an advantage to not get them.
It's better to waste 500k adena than to wait with applying them because you don't have the 1,8m AA for the -4dyes.

As stated before, +5 WIT is the only other really viable end game option, but I did prefer +4 DEX until relatively recently. The reasons I switched to +5 WIT were to further increase my casting speed (of course) and to further minimize the reuse times of my magic skills. I wanted to start getting used to the setup in anticipation of getting Lord of Vampire, though I'm admittedly not THAT close to having it.

I still think +4 DEX is a great option for the run speed and other bonuses, but I also enjoy the maximized casting speed from +5 WIT. I can't really say which is better in general; I think it comes down to personal taste. However, I do think that the +5 WIT setup isn't as beneficial to lower level SEs since they don't see as much of a benefit except with Inquisitor skills, whereas higher levels have things like cooldown on Hero magic skills, Prophecy of Wind (when it is wanted), Mana Gain, and eventually Lord of Vampire.
Tyvm ill try to get 4+ wit 4+con 4+ dex but my problem now is the mamon guy...XD

It's not stupid. Stupid is wasting money if your poor. and you don't need 1.8m aa. people sell them all the time. Some Clans Stock pile them from spoils. I do I have a ton I got free from spoils and I just store them in Clan WH. :p
Saruon, if you don't want to look around for mammon (which is not that hard) try searching in Giran, you can find any type of dyes there, but they will cost you.
