Bored at work waiting for a phone call so I can go home... so...
What is your single most prized possession (excluding your character) in Lineage II and why? Maybe it has a history or maybe you spent 3 months farming the mats for it or blew 10 up before finally getting a 100% recipe? Or it could be your pet which you've been grinding with since day 1..?
Mine is definitely my +9 Homu.. sad but true. I know everyone's got one, but can anyone say they managed to farm and buy enough BEWC's to get it there (I think I used over 15 from events and bought 2) and farming the soul crystal on their own? I bet very few of you did that all by yourself; and on a nuker too... man it was painful leveling a crystal on a nuker.. pin cushion!
And to top it all off, the 2nd life stone I had ever used on it (49 regular) gave me a pdef, mdef and Recall skill...! No more BSOE's for me..! Well, not on that toon anyway :)
My Dragon Slayer and my 3 A grade sets (Nightmare Robes, Tallum Robes and Tallum light) I think. At least they were the most expensive things I've gotten.
And... I really treasure my +5 Admiral's Stock on my now inactive account, because, like you, I got lucky and used a mid 52 LS and got a glow and an active skill :) Too bad that if I ever reactivate it, I'll have to remove the augument to reuse the weapon, since I don't think that account's ever going to be active for real again -sighs-
Well you always can be proud if you do everything by your own. Its hard work for sure, but always the most fun at the end seing the results of your efforts. Also like that you discover much more from L2. I am kinda new and my char is only lvl 39 but until now i have a lot of farmed adena and mats for future craftings and doing the last part for the second class change, and yes i am proud of that and much will follow to be proud at i know it! :)
My most precious item was an Infernal Master. I had grinded, spoiled and played the market.. to get 45kk.
Then one day i walk around looking for an inf master and find a misspriced one for 15kk (someone must have entered the numbers by numpad 1 is below 4 ^^ ) ... anyways I bought that and thought .. WoW now I have 30kk leftover, at that time EWA costed 4-5kk, I bought 8 EWAs and was like "if i had so much luck with the weapon it will continue".. went to giran church, prayed and made it in 1 go +8 :) ... that weapon brought me to 75 and I could sell it high enough to be able to get my S grade Heaven Divider which I immediately turned into a Gram... so yea, this 1 misspriced Inf.Master is what I treasured most and it helped me even to obtain S grade what I never thought of ^_^
My favorite posession in L2 is a Dark Elven Bow. Yes, the D grade one.
It was the first weapon I was able to purchase, on my first toon, on my first account. Took me longer to get that thing than any other item I have obtained thus far.
Those of you who were here at launch know how hard it was to level, let alone make any money. I still have it and will never get rid of it. It is a reminder to me when I think things are a "grind" and what a grind this game really was.
When I think of that, I just have to laugh when I'm whining about getting together some money for an A grade set.
I think mine is my strider. I did the hatchling quest when I hit 35 then raised him all the way myself. That was back when the hatchling only got experience for the damage it caused, so I spent the best part of the spring of '05 freezing undead and letting the lil' one chew on them.
I didn't name him yet, a relative was expecting a baby and it seemed amusing to wait and name the hatchling after the baby. After Grayson was born I named the strider BabyGrayson. Grayson is 3 now and I love to show his mother the strider up close. Of course I tell Grayson he is named after the Strider, not the other way around.
Mine was My hunting Bow it was my first Real weapon on My DE mage and even thou it was not a mage Weapon I was a very Happy Girl. I had that bow from beta all the way to Interlude when I let Selvex borrow it and never got it back :(
So now I would have to say my +6 Blue Wolf Light set and my + 11 Keshanberk*Keshanberk which I got buy selling my + 9 Keshanberk*Keshanberk that I made my self and my level 55 Great wolf that I leveled with my Kamael.
Thanks to KingdomForCoin for pointing out an extremely minor flaw in my post above. Yes, they were indeed BEWC and not B.
However, you state "why in the name of lilith would you ever use blessed enchants for a c grade item that you could always get in the lux shop for relatively cheap?".
Well, I think you've answered your own question. If using BEWC on a C-grade weapon is not worth while then I guess they wouldn't sell. Therefore I put them to use and enchanted my Homu - which I did originally get from the luxury shop. And the BEWC's were free, from events (apart from a few which I paid about 2m for).
Have a look at how much a +9 with Acumen go for.. I didn't lose anything, but I gained a +9 Homu. All with my own sweat and tears; for that, I'm happy.
The Tallum Plate Armor rec I got in the GC quest. It took several levels overall to get that one rec, plus a rec for DC leggings. I held onto that rec for months.
my biggest valued asset is (believe it or not) the fact that I managed to become a 3-d class and that I'm proudly called Maestro! After 3 years of playing at different PTS there were no 3-d classes first, than, when they were introduced we had wipe so I started a dwarf since lvl 0 again. And after some time I quited pts and started playing at official server where I managed to become lvl 76 maestro and it was and is my BIGGEST great thing in the game. Love my dorfy very much!
I had blown up 3 pairs of them trying to make +4 Duals for my Gladiator, and my friend at the time made, and forced me to take those duals without pay.
Manticore boots I got during C1 that my friend helped me (well, he did most of it) farm for. Though, those are on my cousin's account, which he has yet to give back due to laziness. They're on a different server than my current one, anyways :(
That or my SwS's Avadon set that I crafted/bought pre-Gracia.
i'm not playing for too long ....but i have something to be prowd of....and that is my A grade Lacerator(DLE)(with stealth augment), my DC light set and my 3 Majestic jewels.
it's not much but at least i worked hard on my own for these things.
his d-grade crafting made it possible for me to get top a-grade on my main.
not bad earning 600kk+ on d-grade craft
(buying brig, manti, elven parts in oren "rather cheap", craft boots, gloves and helms and sell in dion extremly expensive"
to bad that business got wiped in CT2 with all the pieces in NPC-shops.
My most prized item was my Majestic Robe set in C3. I was so proud of that set being one of the first on bartz to have a Majestic Robe set. I still have it to this day on my Warsmith crafting in Giran :) I don't think I will ever sell that set. Too much sentimental value :)
I have leveled him to lvl 40 with 3 of my 6 characters, and will continue to do so til he hits max lvl... Sure, its alot of work and it slows down leveling a bit, but I am proud of that wolf for being the toughest [censored] lvl 40 wolf I have ever seen! He helps my Dagger and Kamael kill faster, and thats all I can ask for!
Definitely my Chrono Cithara. Followed by my short bow, which has over 5000 pk's and counting (granted the toon that pk's in the re-lvling process at the moment.
DC set i made back in C2 or C3 or whenever, when those **** helmets were going for over 100 mil...
i did the TOI quest to get recipes, crafted that way, bought the robe somewhere, of course a few days after i crafted my DC Helm, I got one as a drop in ABG
This is a really silly thing, especially with it being so low grade and all.... but I was immensely proud on the day I crafted my first Brig Helmet. I had farmed those Bugbears outside of HV long and hard for Brig helm designs. And the day that I was finally able to craft it .... man, at that time, I thought I was sitting pretty :p.
But I am of the opinion that anything that I've had to work hard at getting has always meant more in the end than something I've bought. But friends are by far my most valued in game asset :).
I don't have any emotional attachment to any item in this game. It's just not realistic for me to get that caught up in pixels. I've given away stuff for free that some would consider high value items. I've pushed the limit and broken extremely high enchants just for the heck of it. Catch me when I'm bored and I'm liable to give you everything in my WH just so that I can start over building wealth from scratch.
What makes this game worthwhile are the challenges and the people. Everything else is just a means to an end.
Clan Hall by far is the most valuable asset to me. One of the few things that can not be taken away from you, helps everyone in the clan and really does make a nice place to hang out and chat.

true that. Me and my clan were happy I got one after that Merge Crap. It's not the Best Clan hall but any clan hall > no clan hall. ;)
My elysian is my pride and joy, took 3 attempts to craft and finally got it.
The thing that I've held on to the longest would be my (old name) buzdygan. I worked my [censored] off in open beta for that thing and I still have it to this day. Farmed a quest in Dwarf Village that had you killing Magical Weavers and another quest that sent you after the bats. Man was that a long grind.
Seems like just about everyone is talking about things that are in the game.
My most valued L2 asset is my son. He got me started in this game, about a month after he started. He's a gamer and understands what sort of things to look for and do. Together we have learned and enjoyed this game, for 3 years now since the beginnings of C3.
I will stack him up against any in-game asset you can come up with. Without him, this game wouldn't be worth playing!

He beats us all. I can't get my Dad to play a game even if he sat down to try. :p
My girlfriend and her mother play and my brother used to play.
That may be so, but he values his time playing the game with his son more than any asset he aquired in game through hard work. That to me is the winner here.
It's not a competition, which you thought I was partaking in by saying that I have close people playing also. I apologise if I got the wrong idea but that's how it seemed.

You are correct and I thank you for recognizing it. Together we have some pretty good in-game assets, that we did work pretty hard at getting. Our toons are failry well equiped and have reached decent levels. We've been through a lot together and a lot of toons also, until we found the ones we liked the best. Now I'm noble and on my way to level 78 on my Warlock and his SH is heading for level 73 (so ok it took him a little longer than me to find the class he liked the best). He's going to sub a bishop when he gets to 75 and I'll sub a Warlord to pole him up to 56-58.
These are just a few of the reasonshe's my best asset. You say you can't get your Dad to play. I'm sorry to hear that and hope that you do find other things that you can do with him. Dads are the best, both being one and having one.
Sorry if this thread has started getting a little "soupy". Wasn't my intent, but this thread really hit home with me as I read through it. It made me think, and all that lead to here. My greatest joy playing this game is playing side-by-side (well back to back really, our computer desks are on opposite sides of the room) with my Son. I wish that all the players could know that same joy.
when i joined a clan on devianne i was given a +9 homunkulus with Acumen (worth 95m at the time). i was hard up for cash once and sold it. i bought a +8 for 70m. i am again low on cash (and on a different server) and i must sell it. i have no choice. but i dont want to. those were good people i left.
All you hear on other fan sites is about family stealing from family in one way or another which is pathetic.
Anyhow, more power to you.
Do you use L2 as a way to punish him when he does bad in school or something?
Dad I got a C in math. Son I am taking your Sword Of Miracles away for a week. You have to play with a Staff of Life.
LOL I suspect that if I took away his SOM he would probably PK me IRL. It's got PR2 augment on it, so he doesn't die anymore when things go wrong, for that matter neither does his party. Which will also be nice when he subs that Bishop, great heals and PR2 if things get too hairy. I'm looking forward to that actaully.

The family that plays together, stays together. "Soupy" or not, it's good to hear the human side of L2.
As for me, I've seen my dad twice, which I reckon he figured was one time too many. The next time I see him will be to piss on his grave and enforce my primogenitorial rights to his estate...that is, before I reduce it all to ashes.
Safe to say, Inglorian, you've definitely got the better take on fatherhood and life in general. Gratz to you and your son.

No pop I wouldn't outright PK you, that'd be too quick and I wouldn't get near the satisfaction out of it that I could if made it slow :)

hmmm.......
It appears that after 3 years my son has decided to join the forum. I might be in a bit of trouble... :o
The most vaulable assets are my friends/clan mates.
For item, Temptation of Abyss back when i farmed the mats and craft it myself.. which i used to exchange/upgrade through Mammon to high D grade and then C Grade. All those troubles but was totally worth it.
It seems quite obvious to me that our most valuable "assets" are friends. I thought it went without saying.
I thought the thread went about the in game ITEM that is more valuable to you. Perhaps because you earned them with hard work, or it was a gift from a parting friend, you know...
Can't you send him to school or anything.. or is he a little older than that?
Kamenwati actually is my son IRL,, and no, I can't send him off to school. He's just a bit old for that. I won't give out his age but I can give my own.....49. So you can take a fair guess at his probable age.
