I am pretty new around here. While I do have some experience with other MMOGs (namely Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, City of Villains and Tabula Rasa) I do have some sever problems, most important of which is that I don't understand how to find team mates.
At the moment I am trying to find mates to do a Kamael Quest which is only doable in a very narrow window (level 17 - 19), in Nornil's Gardens... I don't seem to be finding a public chat channel that works over the whole island so I could ask, there is no one coming by the caves and the Kamael village on Luna is not that crowded.
I tried it once with a single one mate (we had to leave another group member out since he reached level 20 too early) but as soon as my he ran out of mana points it got very, very nasty. So... I need loads of companions to let it go relatively smooth, but I don't know where to find people. Also the problem is that I may not actually do anything that may give me XP while waiting for a party... if raise too far in level I may not enter the mission, if I die during the mission after I gained level 20 on it I may not re-enter it...
I created one room to have that "Looking for Party" floating over my head... but so far to no result.
Could anyone give me some pointers, please? I've seen a guide, but that's written under the premise that the player knows how to technically do it but not how to behave, whereas my probablem is rather the other way around.
Best bet to finding a party is to use the shout, which is a large area. its !<this is shouting>. However finding a party at lower lvls, even on camel island is going to be hard. Especially now since you can go 1 to 20 in about 30 minutes doing the quests. Most people will not stick around to do content.
Unfortunately this game has developed so much in the past 4 years that you will find it difficult to find a party, or clan, until you hit the late 20's or mid 30's range when you enter the town of Dion. Given that you can hit level 20 in a few hours, there's little point in searching.
The game, remember, is Korean and designed for their kinda servers. We just adapt it to our own way of playing, which is grind to the top as fast as possible (with a few exceptions of course..!).
As Gecklar stated the chances of finding a group at this level is pretty much nil. It's a stretch, but to be completely honest your best bet is probably to find other people on your server through the forum and have them roll toons just for this quest. I'm not joking. The only people that I have heard of that want to do this quest are the hardcore explorers/RP types. Everyone else does their three starter quests or whatever and starts leveling like crazy. They don't want to hang around the starting area doing a dungeon that restricts who can enter and strips buffs when you port in.
I understand the draw of doing content like this, but you're not talking about the average L2 player. Find some like-minded people through the forum, schedule a time, go at it.
I would use the shout channel. You start your sentence with an exclamation point ! and it does go to a pretty broad area. Good luck!!
It's too bad you haven't found a party for that dungeon, because it is a helluva lot of fun... you can level like 3 levels in there, and the big pots contain herb pots too, so all is not lost if your health is low; just break open a clay pot and there's plenty to help you... Took me and my friends a couple run-throughs to get it down, but it was worth it and we had soooo much fun doing it. Of course, we did it when Kamaels was first released, so Kamael village was filled with people.
Well, it goes to a pretty broad area which is probably a 2cm square on the main map or the whole of the village in zoomed mode. Quite small in the whole scheme of things.
Maybe you could pm ("name message) one of the heroes (in light blue chat) asking if they could do a party shout for you. Knowing the heroes on most servers they'll probably laugh at you, but some may actually be nice people and do it :)
As the others have said, it now takes 30-60 minutes to go from 1-20 so not many players will be in that range or interested in sticking around to explore a low area. Your best bet is to just skip that part and move on. Lineage 2 quests are not like the quests in other games. In almost all cases, you are not missing out on much, if anything at all, by skipping quests.
If you don't know how to get your toon 1-20 fast with the quests, it's really easy. Delete your toon and create another one. Soon as you get to town talk to the newbie guide and take the quests that he suggests you take. Not sure about the quests in Kamael Village but I just did this in DE village. I was level 20 and completed class change a hour and half later. One thing though, again I don't know about kamael village (maybe someone else can help here), but that second quest I took, I found that all I had to do was get 1 of the quest items, go back to the NPC and he gave me like 3000 shots. Then I quit the quest. When I went back to the newbie guide, he made me level 10 and gave me another quest suggestion.
At first I thought this thread belonged on a different kind of website. I pretty much agree with what the others said. Get to Dion and as you level up you will start to see more people. And people often meet other like-minded players on these forums.
Once you get in the 20s, come to Dion and you should definitely find a few groups here and there, especially raiding groups which quickly level you up from 1-40. If no party, just level around Dion until there is a party.
It took a whole lot longer for me... well, it did help when one told me how to use those Soul Shots when I already reached level 14; and of course I spent much time running around and exploring the borders.
It seems that, being on a trial account yet, I cannot shout. Moreover I cannot buy a key (15 ain't much to me), because I've been buying loads of keys trying everything out recently. Not sure wether I am going to stay with Lineage II on the long run, though. There are quite a few points I don't like about it...
1. Poor visual character customization
2. Exaggerated cute style (I passionately hate those bunnies, elven skirts etc.)
3. comparably low density of the enviroment
4. Low rule-wise character customization option
5. Strange ratio between graphical quality and requirements. My computer runs Tabula Rasa or Lord of the Rings or Age of Conan online with all options to the edge and 4 sample anti aliasing never getting less than 30 frames per second. Same goes for The Witcher or Bioshock. While having a lot less graphical detail to offer than any of those mentioned games it seems to make my computer's frame rate go lower than 15 sometimes when I use 4 sample antialiasing. Which makes actual lag become apparent, for a lot less experience than the high detail level in Tabula Rasa or the great panoramas in Lord of the Rings Online.
6. and now additionally limited global communication options, sparse density outside of big cities; seems to be a lot more single player oriented than other games I know. But the single player experience is by no means as rich as in an actual single player game.
It does have some good aspects to it, otherwise I wouldn't be trying anymore. I really like to play some fantasy RPG that I like again, and I did clearly not like Age of Conan and Lords of the Rings online. However, Lineage II, while totally different in style, seems to share a lot of the problems of said games, too...

This one I'm pretty sure I know what the culprit is...the advanced shader options. Turn them OFF. Last time I tried them, even the login screen started lagging massively. And I have a decent setup. I turn shadows off, mostly because I think they look like junk. You could leave them on, but other than the shaders, thats the single largest performance sucker other than walking into Giran and loading all the shops.
Feel free to crank up the resolution and details to max and add as much AA as you like once you get rid of the shaders. I found the only thing any of the shaders did was make the textures a bit darker and *browner* and the lighting hardly changed. The only thing I missed was the improved water looks...but considering how much performance I lost I'm willing to deal with 'cheap' water that you don't normally see while your grinding.
I have GPU animation off as well, I just can't remember if I did that as part of the Shader fix, for something else, or is it just didn't do anything and I just ignored it.
Best thing to do is turn everything off, then add options one by one until your performace starts to suffer. There aren't that many options so you should find a good setup pretty quickly. I have an ATI card, so I don't know how a NVidia config would differ, but given the games age and the shaders were added much later, I'd say if you have a GForce card you may still need to turn those off as well.
Nvidia Graphic cards suck in la2, Radeon is way better. And that's not just my opinion. It was said about a year or even two ago (when 8800 Ultra was released and guy who bought said: lol I got less fps than with my old Radeon *same settings*). So if u r using Nvidia - that might b a problem as well (partly).

For continue to play on official L2 servers you need to buy a retail box first which bring a serial key to activate your account and make it a official account. After that is done, you always may use your gametime cards. That means, as long you didnt activated your account with a serial by buying the original game in a store (20 +/-) you cant use gametimecards on that account.
L2 is very well known of the massiv PVP, Castle sieges and fortress sieges. L2 is very well known as a hardcore game. Which means its not for everybody since its not easy to play it and survive. Since Gracia it got a bit easier, but camparing it to other mmorpgs its still the hardest. Many other games are lvling just by doing quests over quests in solo mode. Thats boring and for games like that i dont pay a montlhy fee. Because for play solo quests running around alone i could play a offline game. Lineage is a group play. I tryed WoW, age of conan and guild wars and you cant compare them with L2. For say the truth i never wanted to continue to play them. I Always stayed with L2 for many reasons. One of the bigest ones was the freedom you have here. Many other mmorpgs have to many restrictions with PVP/PK or other things.
Aion will be a great game without a doubt, but it seems to me that it will have many restrictions also with guilds and will never touch L2 in players population, thats just my opinion. It give a lot of aspects which i like on Aion, many things which i would like to see from Aion in L2. But i think that will never happen. What i mean? That Aion is much more detailed than L2. In terms of weps, armors, freedom in char costumization and combat system. I saw a new youtube video from Aion from the char selection screen. With cool animations before you choose you char. My mouth standed wide open. That is just great and cool detail! I dont know why they dont make that for L2.
And at least, aion sure looks nice...but what do we know about class diversity, class balance, PvP balance, endgame objectives, crafting, achievements and so on.... nothing
this could be the next Age of Conan. all pretty no content at all...
Thanks for the advice with the shaders, PainAmplifiers... it's only on certain camera moves, not all the time. But it just feels a little strange Lineage II performs worse than other games that display a whole lot more Bump Maps, Textures, vertices at any given time. I thought it would be just a single option there.
ABout using ATI cards: That's not an option. I am usin g Linux software. Second Life, Blender... ATIs support for Linux has surely improved, but if you're a Linux user you use nVidia if you want quality. End of story. Even if an ATI card is a few percent better for a bit less buck I wouldn't buy it. At the moment I am using an GeForce 8800 GTX, 900 MHz Memory, 600 MHz core, 768 MB memory. The system itself got 4GB Memory at 800 MHz and a dual core intel 3GHz CPU (E6850). Next improvement - should I think one was nescessary would be a second nvidia 8800GTX to connect over SLI. My board uses an nVidia 680i SLI chipset an supports two cards. And I got a 600 Watts Tagan PSU, so it should be capable of that.
As fo the game itsself I don't think I wanna buy a retail box. My trial account will hold until the mid of the month and then I'll try to buy a key from the PlayNC shop again.
I don't know much about other games... I tried Lords of the Rings Online and Age of Conan Online and didn't like them much. Too streamlined, shallow missions, too unpersonal and - same as my main critcism here - very limited character customization options. My favourite will always be City of Villains, but I really want a nice new fantasy game. :)
L2 is oriented onto displaying up to 1000 people acting together (as in sieges). This is where most of its graphic limitations (like character customization) come from. You won't be able to achieve good FPS if there are 1000 completely different toon textures are running on your screen.
Well, I use Asus cards. Same as my mainboard. nVidia chipset, ASUS making. And if you find features that only theoretically exist, but don't work with the provided driver quality, then there is no point in discussing that with you.
Probably judge quality by the graphics design of the box it ships in.
