Gearing a B-grade Dwarf

Dwarf Classes Started Last reply 32 posts
Ok guyz, i tried searching, but i'm not so tech savvy so I didn't find what I was looking for.

I have 2 dwarfs (like every respectable guy :)) a spoiler and an artisan.

Artisan is about to hit B grade soon.
I use my dwarfs to SOLO-hunt(both dwarfs are on the same account, so they don't hunt together). I almost never party someone else, because I can rarely find anyone. I want to kill mobs fast, but not loose all my regen from loading heavy on STR or DEX.

I want to know what gear should I pick for overall fastness but without loosing too much regen: DOOM or BW?

About weapon, I've been planing to craft an AOBA with Haste and +3 (I'm not rich so don't suggest OE stuff). But an AOBA would automatically imply a DOOM shield. I could also make a +3 Great Sword with Focus.

Leaving Focus/Haste apart does the AOBA + blunt skills come greater than Great Sword?.

About my playstyle: on scavanger I just kill as fast as possible and switch mobs fast in order to XP fast. I don't care about drops or anything else, just kill kill kill. On Scavanger, I don't kill so fast, because I care about my MP regen, and the only spells I usually use are Spoil/Sweep without any additional dmg spells.

Also, It would be very nice if I could use the setup for both the artisan and the scavanger (maybe with small changes).

Could you wise dwarfs guide me to the light or at least point me to a thread that has an explanation which armor is better and which weapon is better?

Thank you all for your patience.
BW heavy
+4/5 str - con
tsu*sls or great sword with focus
that tells me mostly nothing.

Like I said I have both artisan and scavanger with different playstyle.

For artisan I agree that BW+GS might be better to kill fast. How about for spoiler on which I don't use Fatal Strike?

Also, the tsu*sls would have to be enchanted to +4 to benefit form the crit bonus. Is dual-swords any better than 2h swords for dwarf?
Best armor for dwarf is Zubei Heavy with a Health Blunt.
+ 4 STR / +5 DEX - 9 CON

Blue wolf is nice but i prefer Zubei cause it only has benefit and no back drows
won't a health blunt take ages to chop the mobs down? or does the new buffs + blunt skill do more damage than a 2H?

Also u already went down to -9 con from tattos, one more -1 con from BW won't change the deal much. How do u stay alive? Or just kill white/green mobs?

My playstyle also includes killing yellow/light-red mobs :P.

Also, will the 5% extra p.def on zubei cover the p.def gap between zubei and bw/doom?
I would say get blue wolf heavy for booth. Best B set for dwarf.
As weapon for spoiler i would now use ice storm hammer with focus, since its 2 handed u wont need a shield.
I used an aoba with haste back then.

For the Warsmith get a polearm Lance is nice but great axe would do too even orcish poleaxe could be ok.
To lvl the warsmith fast go to pavel ruins, with newbie buffs and dropping herbs u can aoe without any help there. The quest also gives low b weapon recs. I did till 58 now i need to find some other spot to do the last 3 lvls to A.

With the spoiler go whereever the best spoil is.
BW heavy and Ts*Sls duals +4 ONLY when "B" grade... and of course +5str +4dex.
Pls someone tell me why duals would be anywhere better than 2H for dwarf. Otherwise I'll go for 2H
low Soulshot consumption. Faster atack speed (u hit 2 times) bigger crit RATE.

crit rate is the same, you hit twice as much as 2h sword but for exactly half damage so overall damage and soul shot consumption is exactly the same. the only difference is that duals have double chance to trigger any 'on hit' chance buff. but with 2h sword you can use fatal strike and not with duals so swords are better imo.

BW heavy
+4/5 str - con
tsu*sls or great sword with focus

/agree

A spoiler should be using there mana for spoil and a warsmith is a summoner now, so use his mana for heals/buffs.
thx for a real good explanation. i'll get a GS with focus and BW armor and maybe a pole later on

warsmith is a summoner now

tend to disagree with that. You can still play without the barrel on a wheel :P, depends on how u like to play it.
As far as i know BW set remove STR and DEX

As far as i know BW set remove STR and DEX

gives -DEX. but gives +3STR. and at the same time also gives +7 run speed.

<3
WS isn't even close to a summoner so don't try and pawn it off as one
if you can't get +4 tsu*sls then the great sword is a better option but it won't be as easy to off load it when you get sick of the dorf

dex doesn't do crap for a dorf and the last thing you need as a dorf is more hp and less damage so the obvious choice for armor is always gonna be BW

do not even think about picking up a blunt unless you plan to PVP which is laughable because
1. you are B grade and
2. you're a dorf
I'm a bit worries about getting so much -con.
If i go for +5str, +4dex then i loose lots of -con.

What do you guyz think about +4str -4dex, +1str -1 con, and +4MEN-4WIT (if possible to wear the last one) for more mdef.
can't touch men else 90% of dorfs would have it
i say dex is useless to a dorf but i would still never get +str - dex as a pve build (pvp is debatable)
trust me even with -9 con you will still have a fair amount of hp
-9 con i the basic poling dyes setup until 78 where dex = [censored]
I still vote for DUALS because if he is a DH he needs mp for spoil not for fatal strike. And duals have more p.atack and maybe less crit rate (-20) but make 2 hits with the same crit rate for EACH hit... thus having x2 crit rate...and MP saving.

so it's x2 crit count, not crit rate.

Heaven's Divider (S 2h sword) - PATK 342, attack speed Normal, crit rate 80
Tallum Blade*Dark Legion's Edge (S duals) - PATK 342, attack speed Normal, crit rate 80

Just go to calc site and see for yourself that they both give the same stats. The only difference may be due to different SAs.
x2 crit rate, because u hit ONCE with a Sword, I hit 2 times with duals thus having 80 crit rate + 80 crit rate 4 the same timing. Plus +4 duals have > p.atack+ mp saving.

no.

base crit rate 80 means you have 8% chance to crit.
in the same amount of time:
- with sword you have 8 crits out of 100 hits on average.
- with duals you have 16 crits out of 200 hits on average (all hits for half damage).

it's still 8%.

as for PATK, Heaven's Divider+4 = 372 PATK, Tallum Blade*Dark Legion's Edge+4 = 372 PATK. although I admit that high grade +4 duals are usually a bit cheaper than sword+SA.
who told you about half crit dmg. ?
I've made up my mind and i'll go for a 2H, good for both dwarfs. The only different will be that on BH i won't use fatal strike. Also, i'll try later on to get a pole only for BH.

Thanks for all the replies.
For warsmith u mean to get pole right ?
Not sure if the +40 in crit rate difference between a focus Great sword and ice storm hammer is worth giving up masterys, skills and blunt mastery buff that decreases mp useage of skills.
As you want to hunt yellow and red mobs the way better accuracy of the blunt and the masterys would come in handy too. I dont see you to hit red mobs much with a great sword.

If you dont have a buffer with you all time i would choose the blunt, because newbie buffs dont give guidiance ( not 100% sure atm), might, focus and DW.

it is and blunt mastery is a 50% proc rate and 7 secs duration (?) on a crit which makes it pretty unreliable once you have a blunt
what is those masteries that you guyz are talking about. And yes, i've hit red mobs with a 2h sword with no problem. The focus bonus is 87 extra crit. and all dwarfs get a new skills called fatal strike that can be used with 2h.

For now i'd love to hear about the masteries o_O

not sure what you are asking but when we say "masteries" we mean blunt mastery which means that blunts will always have more pattack than an equal lvl weapon but the dps is always debatable
blunt mastery is a self buff that has a 50% trigger rate on a crit when using a blunt that lowers skill mp cost by 50% and increases stun land rate (although i have never noticed a difference)

it is not only +40 crit rate, weapon crit rate along with DEX modifier is the base - all calculations are derived from this value. every buff that increases crit rate by percentage is exactly twice better for swords than blunts. that includes Focus, CoV, Cat Buff, Critical Herbs, Song of Hunter, Boss Jewellery, ...
All plain crit chance bonuses are added at the end like Focus SA or Augment effect and they are not multipied at all. The difference in final crit rate when fully buffed can be really huge.

Also, when you have all crit damage buffs on yourself you can achieve up to 400%-500% of normal damage on crit, which means that each 10 crit rate is equal up to 4%-5% damage increase (and on some classes even more).

Blunt mastery bonus is small and it is added at the end, not multiplied by buffs.Of course this situation is only when you are fully buffed. In a small party you won't have all those crit buffs and the difference between sword and blunt isn't that big. I'm still using a blunt because I play alot in small parties and stun can be a life saver in tough situations.

who told you about half crit dmg. ?

I don't have much knowledge about duals crit damage from my know experience. But there are many posts on unofficial forums about this, especially from a gladiator, Diego Vargas.

Basically you have 2 types of buffs that increase crit damage:

- percentage buffs which multiply normal hit damage. since with duals you swing 2 times but for half damage the increase is exactly the same.

- plain buffs, which actually do apply full PATK bonus to both swings, but there are only few of those available in the game. I think there is only one that is available to a dual wielding dwarf and that is Blunt Mastery enchanted for crit damage (strangely, it applies even if you don't use blunts).
In all other cases crit damage for 2h sword and duals is equal.

See i dont talk about the crit rate of the char i talk about the crit rate of the item. The base crit rate of swords are 80 while blunts have 40. The focus SA give the same bonus on booth weapons.

Its normal that % modifiers will give a bigger difference in the end when the other stat is higher then the other.

If you look on l2calc ( dont know how accurate that is ) it shows me that the blunt will have 55 patk more then the great sword, while the great sword will have 45 crit more on the char without buffs.
Now it would be good how many more times you would get a crit due the 45 more. If we say every 10 crit cate is 1 % chance to get a crit, then the ice strom hammer wil have 111 crit rate means 11% chance to do a crit while the great sword has 156 crit rate means 15%. chance to get a crit. Thats a difference of 4% more crits unbuffed.
If you play solo without outside party buffs you will dish out more damage with the bunt in total.
If you have all buffs and dances up that might be a whole other thing. Then again i dont think you get big partys with a dwarf all time and not always perfect buffs.
Nah i see them more lvling alone with newbiebuffs ( that dont give focus and dw ) or in small partys till 62.
