Arbalester - Solo & PvP tips and opinions

Kamael Classes Started Last reply 6 posts
Hi guys!
I'm playing an Arbalester for a while now (lvl 52 as for now) and I have developed my own playstyle for her. Anyway... as fun as this character is, I'm confused with her "juice" comparing to other races and classes. Here is what crosses my mind:

1. Damage - been using top C xbow +5 with ssC all the time, plated leather set. The thing is - I have a feeling that as for a ranged fighter with rather slow attack speed, the damage that my kamael does is crappy. Yeah, the over-hitted double-shot with soul boost crits for over 3k, but the regular shots landing on white mobs are not very impressive. In pve it's not a very big problem (partying) but in 1 on 1 pvp I feel like I have no chances with any fighter class. It's usually like Real Target -> Twin-Shot -> Bleed -> Warp -> Twin-Shot -> Soul Shock if I'm alive, which I'm usually not. Regular shots are quite fast, but they don't damage in pvp, while skilled shots damage mediocore but before I launch a single twin-shot I get couple of hard slaps in my face. Any suggestions? Traps? Ultimate Escape?

2. Traps - I never used them. Now I started using the binding trap and I see some potential in it. What are Your feelings or experience with the other ones? Anything worth mentioning?

3. Duels and Mass-PvP - How do You see the Arbalester in these situations - I'm having really hard time in almost every 1x1, but when having a chaotic fun on arena I manage to get some nice quick kills if noone pays attention to me for a while.

4. Solo - do You do it? How You do it? With xbow, or with hand weapons? I tried to compare xbow with rapier and with duals and mixing xbow with hand weapon (real target -> twin-shot -> switching to hth). Do You use traps?

5. Dyes - lately I've put a tatoo for +4STR -4CON (I no longer wear plated leather) and I'm planning to go for +5DEX -5CON apart from the first one. I'm not really a pvp type of guy, rather have some fun in a party or some organized multiplayer action. I know there's a topic on dyes, but is going -9CON all that smart?

Thanks for sharing
Cheers ;)

They attack speed is not slow at all not sure were you getting that from or what your baseing it on. they shot faster then any archer. Make sure your getting a good SA that you can use. cheap shot is not a Good SA for your class. And why are you using Warp in PVP your a Range class stop using it unless your running away. Traps? Yes all the time just have to be smart with it in PVP as far as PVE just use binding. Ultimate Escape? Only when it's time run and you have no BSOE it's made just for what's it called getting away.

2. Traps - I never used them. Now I started using the binding trap and I see some potential in it. What are Your feelings or experience with the other ones? PVP just posion and root traps for PVE just the root. Anything worth mentioning? Yea root (binding) is about your best trap. but don't even waste time on traps with range classes.

3. Duels and Mass-PvP - How do You see the Arbalester in these situations - I'm having really hard time in almost every 1x1, but when having a chaotic fun on arena I manage to get some nice quick kills if noone pays attention to me for a while. in mass pvp best this 2 do is use bleeding shot and keep moving your a support class so try not 2 be a target.

4. Solo - do You do it? How You do it? With xbow, or with hand weapons? I tried to compare xbow with rapier and with duals and mixing xbow with hand weapon (real target -> twin-shot -> switching to hth). Do You use traps? When I so I use a Rapier or Dagger or Duals, I just try 2 use something with focus

-2 Con is about the most I would do on a Kamael....anymore then that and you think you have problems with PVP now....try killing more CON and see how bad your PVP becomes.
Thanks. :)
OK, more about Dyes. Which setup do You guys think is the most reasonable. Don't hesitate to write "none of these" and put Your own opinion.

1.
+4 STR ; +5 DEX ; -9 CON

2.
+4 DEX ; +5CON ; -9 STR

3.
basic, no tatoos

Thanks
you'll get a lot more traps as you grow ...plus I think you allready have "Decoy", wich is very usefull, it draws agro away from you.

plus you have more to come Stun trap, Lose target automaticly trap, and the seeds decrease HP and paralize and decrease MP and full silence..... so yes ...keep on playing ....and in pvp use all of your skills.....they are great skills.

and remember arbalesters are defensive classes .....this if you read the class description. your ability is not to be hit.

they are ranged only to avoid hits ....they don't do large normal damage, but they can avoid hits better than all other classes.(and by the way tanks resist hits....arbalesters avoid them).
You Must of Missed NO#5 I will post again.

5. Dyes : -2 Con is about the most I would do on any Kamael....
