yeap, you have to be signed to fort/siege to get fame.
I'll pose something for ya's here though;
We have a 2 way war with a clan. I'm off protecting a lowbie who's been attacked and killed several times (not the brightest dude repeatedly coming back to the same spot but i got action so i wont complain^^) already by an s grade archer. So this archer shows up again and i intercept him, almost plastering him all over the place, my skills critted alot (unfortunately not tss though :( ) so he barely manages to bsoe. I get 31 fame points from the whole thing, lol, had 0 when i attacked him and 31 after bsoe. He's prolly 1-2 lvls higher than me. So apparently you do get famepoints for pvp :) atleast if the otherone is higher than you.
:edit: there was a PS at 78 and a Hierophant at 79 and we were in party too but neither got any points, they are the same and/or higher lvl than the archer so i'm guessing thats why i got points and they not.
Nope, it was outside a catacomb entrance. Witches even :)
**edit** the number 31 might not be entirely accurate either, i just took the first number in which i have gotten famepoints that i could remember. It was double digit though from that archer incident, was just quite a while ago so i can't remember exactly how much it was
The Patches say you get fame points for killing enemies too. I dont know in what circumstances and how much fame, thats what they say.
Easiest way to "farm fame" is to go sit in a fort siege, some clans attack others just for the points. I know my ex clan was being attacked for this purpose every single day. We all sat down and got fame. Kinda stupid but it works :P

Yup, fortress siege tea parties ftw :)
But best points still are the normal castle sieges, 125 fame points every five minutes and you also get fame points for killing others who are signed for the castle siege. I have not received any fame points for killing signed attackers on a fortress, though.
31 fame is exactly what you get for 5 minutes on a forts siege ground. are you sure you didn't spend a bit of time there? I haven't heard of anybody getting fame from pvp other than sieges/underground coliseum
