Hello all, after analysing carefully I decided to make this post.
Between the mighty Berzerkers and the quick arbalestors, SB are left in the middle. We are not swordsmen but not dagger either, we have nukes but we are not nukers, so what are we?
- Can't do much against mages coz pvp debuff landing is terribly decreased (so forget about silence landing, I tryed it in a 5x bishop) But beware, we DO get debuffed, somehow sleep and paralized easily.
- We can't go dagger style because when we reach an enemy our low con gets us 3 shoted :(
- We cannot stun, or disarm unlike our cousins the mighty berzerkers... So if we rush into an enemy, we don't even stun him and if we try to disarm him, we just face the truth: We rush into certain death.
- Our casting speed sucks, even that we are "mage users".
We do good at pve ofc, but in pvp, specially in mass pvp we can't stand a change.
My suggestions: We could get some kind of Silent Move, or significantly increase our casting speed, or give us heavy armor mastery or let us wield a shield, or let us stun (not by blink but blink stuns for like 1 second and when u teleport, your enemy knows better than you where u are lol and by the time u realize your position you got caught again) or give us really high debuff rates!! Make us dangerous not to laugh up ^^
Honestly the class is cool, but it's really imba compared to other kamael classes. Define once and for all what's a soulbreaker!!

Ok, first of all I would like to introduce myself. My char name is Bangkok on Bartz server.
My Kamael was level 79. I got it Soul Vortex then deleveled so I could enchant all my skills up.
I have won more fights than I have lost. I have stand toe to toe with the servers best and held my own.
The soulbreaker is a challenging class to play. It is not a nuker nor is it an archer. It can not lethal like a dagger.
Then what can it do???
I have not even come close to mastering the class in PvP. But I get better daily.
We are a mixture of pretty much all the classes. We have a little bit of each class in us. But, let me be more specific.
We must all get 150 Dark elemental attribute Forgotten blade once you get up to S grade. Easier said then done, but with the help of clan mates and determination , I finally got it done.
I went with the Health SA on my weapon. I like the added hp. It helps with the pot spamming.
MY simple rules of engagement for pvp:
1. Do not melee against melee. Do not try to out nuke a nuker.
2.No when to use painkiller and Sword shield. That is critical.
3. Get a conversion homunkulus. More on this later.
A Captain Obvious qoute:
4. Steal Divinity as soon as you get in range. You need to cancel your target immediately. The sooner you do that the faster you will get a second or maybe even third chance to do so.
5. This goes for all classes. You need to carry your CP and QHP and you need to be a good pot spammer. If you can not pot spam, do not even play L2. To this day, I encounter people that just totally forget to pot spam or do not even carry pots. This is a major part of the game.
Real Life PVP situations:
1. I run into a lot of 1 v 1. I like to get my casting hotsprings buff and always run into enemy nukers out there. The nuker as we all know is a dangerous animal. We can easily be one shotted. They are what I feel painkiller was designed for. Nukers fortunately are in the same boat as us. Low HP. Like I mentioned earlier do not try to out nuke the nuker. We have superior run speed. Use it. If a nuker gets the jump on you haul but and pot spam. Once you get your HP back up (as long as he does not hit you with a monster crit at the begginging) , let him chase you for a bit. Let him burn some mp. Then when you feel the time is right hit pain killer and charge him. Steal divinity asap. Use your lowbie charge once you get close enough and then Deathmark/Checkmate, triple thrust and shining edge once he starts to run. He will start to run. Painkiller as we all know goes quick. So timing is critical. Once you steal his buffs and do the initial burst, the nukers almost always turn and run to kite. When they start running then after Shining Edge, cycle through your nukes, I hit them with Soul Strike , Soul of Pain and Annihilation Cirlcle back to back to back. I use these because they are our fastest casting choices. Almost every time I have encountered a SPS, SORC or SH, I have finished them with this combination. For the good pot spamming ones if they are still alive, I hit them with Steal Divinity again. It is usually ready after this initial burst. I then launch my vortex. My vortex does not do a heck of alot of damage but it does land on a cancelled target. It will not land on a buffed target at end game. Especially with alot of people running around with Boss Jewels or OE'd jewels.
After the second cancel and vortex, I repeat the combo. The key to defeating the nuker is constant pressure always keeeping him on the defensive.
Oh yes, the can debuff you. Just like they can debuff every other class in game. If you can use soul cleanse, use it.
I will not stand here and tell you "oh I got para'd and survived." That would be complete BS. If I get para'd , GG.
2. Melee PvP. My favorite and the most fun.
Most people know what mirage is right? Awesome dagger skill making it a pain in the but to hit the dagger. Well guess what, it works just as well for us. You take away a daggers buffs and they turn into an easy target. They are even easier when you steal Mirage from them. At end game you will run into Daggers with Shadow Step. It allows them to teleport right on you so they can start landing the killing blows. I quickly learned to love BLINK. Steal buff, if they shadow step , blink. Simple. THen nuke kite nuke. Spam pots when needed and if the going gets rough, you have sword shield and painkiller.
Tyrants and Destroyers. They are tough because they hit pretty hard and have so much **** HP. I carry a conversion Homunkulus especially for them. To be either of them takes some practice. But once you get it down is alot of fun. I have taken down Frenzied Destroyer and Bison'd Tyrants. Remember our old stand bye. Steal Divinity. Now you have either Frenzy or Bison. Use the Conversion Homu on a macro. I swap weapon with one button to drop my HP to below 60%. Some may say , ouch that is really low hp for us. yes it is. Hit sword shield. You now have 30 seconds to use frenzy or bison on your target. If they get distance on you, Vortex and/or soul web and nuke nuke nuke, steal buffs and nuke nuke again. When you get to the 23 second mark on Sword Shield start potting back up. Remember you still have painkiller if needed.
I took out the Hero Tyrant Green Thunder on Bartz. He charged me, I stole his Bison and then dropped him. He did not know what hit him. This took place in front of MOS and my friend has the fraps if anyone questions this.
Tanks are a pain in the but too. Again because they have alot of HP and PDEF. Kite them. Debuff and kite them. We have the run speed to easily keep them away. It will be a long drawn out battle. I will admit they are tough. If you let them get close to you and stun you. Forget it, you will lose.
Gladiators. Dangerous animals as well. Steal buffs. Kite and pots spam their TSS's. If they do not kill you in 30 seconds, they will almost be out of mp. So, cancel, kite nuke, spam pots, use sword shield if u get dangerously low.
That is pretty much how I currently handle my end game pvp. I win more than I lose now a days. Alot more. Now, when I finish a fight and defeat my target I almost always get the following reply: You beat me because my buffs ran out!!!

Alot of peole still dont know we can steal their buffs. If you have any questions about the class feel free to ask. I speak from actual game play on Bartz. None of this is theoretical. It is all from actual game experience.
So, you ask about the truth about the soulbreaker. The truth is, a well played Soulbreaker can defeat any class.
Oh wait, mass pvp. I almost forgot. I like to steal the enmies UD. Alot! Do this and target their healers. Works nicely. When my stolen UD, Flames of invincibility, or Celestial shield drops, you have your own Pain Killer and or Sword shield. That is how I do it. If I get a mobile UD, I target the nearest robe and attack. If it is a non mobile UD, I do the same thing and Nuke. Keep it simple stupid. The KISS method. Please do not tell me nobody UD's or CS's in mass pvp. I see it allthe time.
So, the truth about soulbreakers. Yes , sure it would be nice to have a few more extra usefull skills, but where the heck would I put them??? my hotbars are packed. If u want stealth, try and get some invisible talisman with an eppaulette purchase. If you want an extra UD, get the inferno Drake transformation or Ole Mahum trans and use their UD's and then transform back to normal form. Their UD lasts 30 seconds. Go for Celestial Shield augment if u really want it bad enough.
Sure, Iwould like more damage, but right now, the TRUTH is I have agreat time with this class in PVP.

Kronk... I don't consider myself an expert in SB, but I love my class and play it as a main. Sometimes a forget that we are mostly a support class (even though we get pretty good options against almost every class) but sometimes there ir a "somewhat"missing to make this class a little less vulnerable.
Reading your post, and knowing there's a true SB around there, really opened my eyes again and made me remember why I chose this class in the 1st place :)
So +1 to kronk and allow me to ask you further kamaelic questions from time to time ^^
I just want to be clear. I do not consider myself an "expert" soulbreaker. I am learning about the class daily just like all of you. There is so little knowledge about our class. It is still somewhat a mystery.
Everything that I have learned about the class is purely from in game experience.
In my opinion, the Soulbreaker was designed mainly to take out robes ,archers and dagger classes. Those are the classes I have the most success against.
Tanks, Destroyers, Glads and Tyrants are a pain in the but.
Shoot even a dwarf can now be a pain in the but. Stun is not our friend.
Anyway, before I start rambling, if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to help you out if I know the answer.
Well, you practically wrote a pvp guide for soulbreakers there (with its + and its -) so I would think of you as a guy that knows how to effectively play the class. That's cool for me, coz I know other SB's but that are lower level than me (they play great) but it's cool to have an endgame player to give some advice to little ones ^^
Sure I will have some questions, in fact, I will start with this one:
Why are you changing your FB health to FB focus?? Is the health boost not really a plus to consider? I'm curious about this, coz I'm saving for my mighty fb when I reach S-grade and I always though healt was a better idea.
Your next question will be omg how? Tyrant AoE Door of Darkness/FoG/some catacomb trains before this Chronicle.
I had the benefit of a PoF Prophet and a Seal of Blockade Overlord pre blockade nerf. I hardly ever play the zerker. I had used the arbalester in Archer parties for raids (real target). The inspector I use for 9 v 9 nuker or melee pvp. My clanny nukers love Magic Impulse and Soul harmony. 2 of the most powerful 10 second buffs in game.
When I first got the buffs, I was a little shocked by the 10 second reuse time. Many people think it is a waste to have to level 2 subs to unlock a class that has 10 second buffs. I used to be one of those people until I took the inspector out on group pvp runs. Just to give you an idea. On my first run, one nuker party took out 2 stacked enemy parties with multiple heroes. Magic Impulse is like a mini CoV or Prophecy buff. The crazy thing is it stacks on top of CoV or any prophecy buff. In 10 seconds with nukers focus firing on enemies it shreds the group. After the 10 seconds I put up the 10 second party UD to finish off the remaining targets. It is cool to watch, but it leaves me basically in the back of the fight just putting up the quick buffs and watching.

about the original post .......Have you ever cast a spell with SB?! ........ at the same buffs, I cast faster than nukers .....so i believe that's prety fast.
SB have low HP because they have a looooot of atk power
again about the original post ....... do this ......charge into enemy and than use blink .....you'll see something realy nice
or cast debuffs as the melee fighter comes towards you, use blink, cast nukes, than as he comes in melee range use checkmate, shining edge triple thrust......i think the target will be dead before triple thurst.

did you read the entire post? or only read the part you didn't like? Everyone who knows me knows that I like this class very much. The post only reflected some true facts about the class and some suggestions that could boost them a little, regardless wether I am right or wrong. I didn't make this thread to complain about SB.
I pvp all the time and I said all this stuff because at this lvl you can get owned by a 5x bishop (regardless of how powerful you might be) if you wanna try it I can arrange a duel for you to see ^^
About your kinda-sarcastic question aobut casting speed, have you ever tried to cast an augmentation item skill? with a 240 c. speed don't tell me SB cast fast, coz they simply don't. Honestly I don't believe you cast faster than nukers who have robe sets+acumen+buffs with reaching c. speeds of over 800, and when they skill reuse is practically immediate.
Honestly man, I've read other posts you've written and I always sympathize with your opinions, but this one was really a bad-taste answer, since you don't freaking know me at all.

and about the cast speed ...... i never tryed to cast that ....because it's normal that it will be slow ....... we have only arownd 300 cast speed ..... our skills have lower base cast time

It's ok, I also was kind of stressed out when I read your post... I love SB it's a cool class and my main as well. It's cool when you pvp or duel some nuker that's only used to spam F1, the other day I took down several times a SPS ^^
We have low m. atk (around 700) but that doesn't mean it's weak, we are not nuker, even though we can nuke. The cool thing is the dark effect of our nukes and SoP's remove target. This lands a lot and it's really annoying. I usually run to my left or right (or rush if it's a mage) after I use a Soul of Pain, becaus if it removed the target it is a little bit more difficult (and annyoing) to ppl to target me again ^^
This kind of small little tips are good to share coz they seem silly and ppl asks why I do them, but then when they expierence it they realize we can be really hard to target ^^
