we had a quest some time ago with almost the same rewards (boss jewel) and rice cakes (waste of coding)

I still have some rice cakes. But I think mine are from a time when the gms ran around dropping them in Giran and Aden.

I also still have some rice cakes from that event. Mine dropped from some of the mobs. Mine have gone stale and have a foul taste though. :p

rice cakes only seem like a waste of coding when you are low level since they provide hp/mp based on your level. Higher level characters receive more hp/mp from them then lower level characters.

the rice cakes were actually really handy so w00t ;P

I always liked the letter event, was one of the few I enjoyed grinding out. The squash/pumpkin is another one.

Actually they are equally useless when you are higher level. Since mp/hp pools rise with your level and rice cakes rise with your level, the proportion of hp/mp restored remains about the same. On the other hand, hp loss and mp loss do not increase steadily with each level but in some cases rise faster at certain levels than others so that what covered a full hit from a mob at level 70 might only cover 1/2 of a hit from a mob at level 80 even when the proportional amount of your hp bar restored remains the same.
