I am trying to get some more activity on our lonely forum and thought it might be nice to discuss how you personally go about PVP in both mass pvp situation and 1V1 (do you turn on soul guard/soul cry automatically, do you bother with CP or QHP pots, what skills do you use etc.).
CP macro anymore cause the other toon won't hesitate to do it.
solo:
Drain, drain, drain if I have the MP, soul cry now but never soul guard. Sleep if I think I can, maybe one root.
Mass, Spam CP heal / Heart. Keep the others alive or have the other side target me and keep up my soul guard to allow my side to take out thier healers first
Mass PVP: If it's huge groups such as castle siege I try to stay hidden (like if defending a castle I'll stay at the top of the ramp where you'd have to turn around to see me). I throw seal of suspension for DD's (I've had duelists tell me they hate it) and silence if I see mages. But I usually give it a go only between CP heals. If I am getting attacked I turn on soul guard and it really helps keep me alive till another dd can get the attacker off of me.
If I spot someone in small group PvP who is not getting attacked and who is A grade I will hit them with a sleep and it lands fairly well. If S grade I don't bother as it seems to rarely land.
More to come - just got called into a conference call....
sleep and fear land hardly even with emp so its rare to use them mostly for mobs if need when i pvp i always get a bow with me and i use it for robe users with soulcry it hurts
for others i use flame mainly stun if melee comes to me and some drains but not too many to save mp for rebuf etc if we survive the fight
For small group pvp I may also try to land a stun if I'm carrying my mace. If possible I try to run behind something if I'm only cp healing since it will work anyhow and hopefully I'll be harder to target.
Almost impossible to win against buffed DD's. They can hit for more and carry more CP/QHP than you. Mages are weaker but hit really hard (they can also debuff, silence, etc at higher levels) and I usually die before I get in range for a stun (not that it would really help). If you go against another buffer you have good chances though (OL excluded).
Party vs party on open fields
Stay behind and try to assist with drains the main targeter. If possible, I try to target enemy healer (usually it is hard because his party protects him)
Siege
I stay behind in safety keeping my MP intact for rebuffs or my clanmates will PK me theirselves. :)
As I said in suggestion post, DC suffers from the fact that many of his skills that went up to 70+ can't be enchanted after 76, thus becoming obsolete. In a few words, DC is a purely support class.
LOL I tried fear this weekend during a one-on-one dual. It landed 3/4 times on someone in majestic jewels and 1/5 times on someone with tat/1 boss jewel. It was funny to see them take off though while I kept draining them.
ol to me is entirely crap for 1v1 when more pvp is/are expected. if your opponent doesnt use cp pots or have a program to spam them for him, you can generally win with a lucky seal and then drains. however no ol is ever able to outdamage a dd in teh time relative to win against any dd during a pvp. drain is too expensive and hits too weak. and a destro/wl doesnt even need to cp pot in 1v1...you'll run out of mp draining them before they die....and then they frenzy or stun you. (LOL 83 warlord :))
1v1 go for the sleep, debuff with hopefully despair and slow and then pull out drac bow/soulcry/cov and hopefully you can rip them up a bit or wait till another dd comes along to eat up their cp spam.
cp spam is just too good... unsure why it was made into something instantly usable
ol shines only in mass pvp really (imho) with their ally hop and cp. sadly, the massive dmg on chars really negates the use of both since cp is slow for reuse and hop is slow for its recovery effect.
i guess a good ol is 79 and use a few debuffs, sleeps, cov their clan, cp heal spam style, hop spam style, foi if they have it and limit when possible.
LOL peashooter. I sure wish they'd fix debuffs so that people would run from us!! I trully do not understand and am bugged by a game that calls a toon a dominator and yet what does it dominate at?
