I thought I posted this thread earlier today, but I can not find it. I must not have submitted it.
Anyway, I need help from my Soulbreaker Brethren. If you play a Soulbreaker and sometimes use a bow please answer my question.
I am considering crafting a Drac Bow. I have not once used a bow with my Soulbreaker.
Sometimes, in Group PvP, I run out of MP and then have to dive into the fray and then sometimes die quickly. I want to limit this aspect of the game for me by using a Dracbow with focus for when my MP gets too low.
Now, here is my question. If you currenlty use a bow or have used a bow, what is our damage like in PvP ?
I also want to know if we can effectively use the bow in its original state? Converting it to crossbow really gimps the patck.
I run around with a Crit rate of about 323 with my Forgotten Blade with Focus, Focus Buff and my self buffs. I would figure a nice Drac bow + our high Patck would equal hard hitting Crits. Is this the case? Would anyone recommend it?
I had a soulbow when I leveled my Arb sub, but never thought to try the Soulbow in its original State on my SOulbreaker. I sold the bow long ago so I have never got around to testing it.
Your help and input will be greatly appreciated.
If it does work out well, it would be cool to make a macro to drop into bison and equip Drac bow (once we steal bison).
Last thing, I always mention the whole stealing Bison thing, because on Bartz, my clan is at war with a few clans that have very active Tyrants in pvp. So, I average one Bison per day. If any of you have ever been hit by a Tyrant in Bison using a Drac bow, you would know they hit hard. I have been hit with a 3k crit in succession by a tyrant using this setup. Yes, I died.
with xbow its lower pattack but much faster speed than with bow plus it uses no mp per shot whereas bow does which completely voids the use you want it for. Seriously though xbow is very high DPS compared to bow but only if youre standing still. for proper kiting bow>xbow.
Agree... I use to carry a bow and Xbow too (common ofc) and I notice that the damage from a bow is obviously really high, and when you crit it really does some damage... but the cons are that you don't have a good range, it removes your speed advantage and still gets mp out of u. I hope this help you a little.
Having a bow for pvp is a must. I just feel that way. SB's are different but not different enough to escape the realities of cp pots and dps.
However I'm not sure I can easily reccomend a Xbow for male Kamael. The only reason it's very good on a female SB is because they get pre-40 masteries and skills (one is effectively Power shot and the other is a short-range fear skill). More importantly they also get an 'Increase Range' passive and a xbow haste skill that stacks with normal haste.
The refire rate is pretty awesome and I do about 200-400(crit) damage, and I surprisingly crit alot, even on 70+ players. (I'm not even using majestic, a crime I know) Even to heavy classes the dps is fairly good which is perfect as it does exactly what I want it to: High enough DPS to nulify or seriously hinder pot spam. I use a common Soul Bow conversion (Reaper). I can't afford to craft a Soul bow just for this purpose (at +3 it's only an extra +18 p atk anyway). A Quick Recovery would be awesome though (think machine-gun uber dps under BD buffs) but it's too much of an indulgence for 100-200+ million.
Crafting a Sarnga (Drac conv.) just for this is rather excessive but if your that rich, go for it I guess. Especially since you can add dark stones to it for your spells.
The nice thing I've found is that the M atck on bows is the same as it is on rapiers (laughable) so debuffing still works just fine. In fact it might actually be a little better as the damage range isn't as ridiculous as it is on rapiers. Xbows also don't consume as much SS as normal bows which is a huge boon and use zero mp (at S grade this is obviously a little different). Having 2 teleports and Pain Killer helps make up for the range.
On a female SB with naturally high dex (36 in armour) and masteries+skills it just makes sense. A normal bow might be better for a male, it even has higher m atck than a similar level Rapier (under S grade), but the mp concerns are very real.
First off, thanks for the quick replies. After reading through the thread I have decided to try out a Drac bow. I have most of the Main mats, so I will attempt the craft tonight (/fingerscrossed). I will be putting focus on it of course and a hand full of Dark Stones.
I will do my best to do some good testing. I will do some before and afters (with and without attribute), with the bow and then with the Converted Xbow. I will put the numbers up so us knowledge starved Soulbreakers have some sort of point of reference. It is up to us to build up the knowledge base for our class.
A bow is definitely a luxury. But, there is nothing else that I would want (that I could actually come close to affording).
I do definitely need a bow, especially for Sieges and Olympiad. So, I will begin some testing this weekend.
I have a +7 Laevitinn w/ Focus 150 Dark and a +3 Drac w/ Focus 150 Fire.
Unless it is mass PVP and I'm at a solid position (like on stais above TOI 13 noble port) I never use my bow.
I am much more effective de-buffing nuking and runnning into combat then just sitting back with a bow. There are enough archers on every server to do that. My job is to get nukers and healers silenced then dead.
I do use it a lot in Oly though against healers who want to kite. I love fighting Prophets because of the buffs I get and how squishy they become.
