I started playing after I watched the movie Joan of Arc. It was about a maiden, she always lead the people and siege castle. It was like "so cool" , a lady can be a commander....
Then I came upon a game store, i saw the cover with players sieging the castle, hence I bought this game.
- Community.
- Diversity.
- It expands faster than my casual play can keep up.
- There is no easy, legal way to cheat, so I'm not tempted (/god, /giveall).
A friend of mine got me to play Lineage 1. Not too long after that he got into the Lineage II closed beta. When I saw that, I got hooked. I've been playing since open beta. This is the only online game I've ever played.
of all the mmorpg that I have played ...this is the most balanced.
And by balanced i mean .... you have different classes for different roles, and you need to have a combination of skill, chance and friends to play it well.
Plus I don't have to say anything about the graphics.
1)friend(s) :p
2)L2 drama >soap opera drama (hell, L2 drama beats any mmo drama ive been in, and i've been playing these **** games for 10+ yrs)
3)where else could I harass jiggie? where i asks ya????
4) seriously, no other good games out there. closest to the open pvp that was in UO when it first came out, before they messed it all up.
When it first came out, I played because it looked pretty. After C1, I played for friends... tons of people on the server easy to make friends and have fun. After C4, there were less people, and most of my friends had quit, so I just played for fun with the few I had left. Leveling was fun for a long time. C5 until HB I played to try to get hero, then I quit right when HB came out. I came back late into Gracia... honestly because I had an 80 character that I used so much time on, and had accomplished really nothing with it besides grinding. Felt like it was a waste to let her sit there, so here I am again.
I play because its one of the more involving games, lots of side things to do, and acomplish. Plus the graphics kick the other mmorpgs butts!
I play a Paladin cause of: Knights of Heaven Movie
I play a dwarf because of: Novel: Oathbreaker
^_^
1. friends ingame
2. graphics
3. it's a loooong run to get to high lvl, that is always higer than my lvl ^^
...but the truth is i don't enjoy the game as before, i am waiting for something new (aion maybe). it's because of rather large number of anoying things that i don't like and can't tolerate after 2years playing.
There's probably a "top 10 Reasons why L2 is better than a GF" list out there somewhere.
I was going to write: "get a girlfriend"--then I realized she would be:
a) more expensive
b) more demanding
c) more frustrating
d) more critical
e) more expensive
f) harder to understand
g) more expensive....
You get the idea. Keep playing L2 and just rent a GF if you need one.
Well, you're not going to get a girlfriend if you spend too much time in L2! I can attest that L2 is a bit anti-girlfriend. As a matter of fact, when I first started L2 my girlfriend at the time would very kindly make fun of me. ;)
Time to turn off the computer and go out and socialize! :D
it amazes me how many ppl have major problems with L2 and yet are willing to leave it for aion
Well, Aion doesn't exist yet as a publicly playable game so they haven't experienced any customer service issues or cheating.
As far as gameplay it is different so that could be a very valid reason for playing. I know that for me it is the only game that I am looking forward to.
Although it has its flaws, L2 is still a very good game at its core, and I play it simply because I like it. You really do get a sense of accomplishment when you achieve something. And of course, the open PvP system is second to none. That said, I do plan to leave for Aion as soon as its out.

I'd just like to comment that if you're insinuating that NCSoft will blow Aion the way they did L2, I would say, give them another chance. They really are trying to make things right and improve themselves with that game.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. On some Aion vid i saw a mage casting sleep super fast...I can see it from now "Aion chronicle/update 4 Live notes ----> skill changes: Sleep casting time increased dramatically." Result, thousands of players either quit or reroll to quit later on.Community shrinks 50% of its size the following months leaving bots extra room to half empty maps, healthy market dies etc... I give Aion a year or two lol

well.. i don't play MUCH... lol just a few hours per day... it's not because of la2 I don't a gf, it's cause I might be a terrible bastard who can't either satisfy or make impression on any gf....
