Can L2 run on Macintosh??

Good day all,

Can we install L2 on a mac?
Not sure if this game was ever designed to work on different OS's but it might be nice to know if they plan to in the near future.

So im asking for official response if possible on the question: Can we install L2 on a mac OS and if not, could we see that happening in the near future?

I'm sure it could be done by imulating a windows environment, but thats not what im asking for now.

thank you,

Cheer!!
not "legitly"
I know people who boot up xp in "bootcamp" and do it all the time.

Other than that 'no'.
With all the recent changes to Mac hardware, it is now completely possible to install any OS of your liking on a Mac.

I don't reccomend it, as Macs are prone to far more problems than PCs, and when (not if) you encounter said problem, it can typically only be fixed my a Mac specifica part that costs 10x the price of the same part for a PC.

That being said, it is POSSIBLE to install XP, Vista, or any other OS on a Mac and thus install L2 on it... I just wouldn't waste my time.
Yes.. it's possible.

I even saw a guy playing in OpenSolaris. :P

It's not legal, though.
So,

With my Linux machines, I use Cedega (clicky) (http://www.cedega.com) to play Windows games, this is against the EULA/TOS?
(Haven't bothered trying L2, with Game Guard and all.)

it wont let you. otherwise there would be a cedega guide the tech section. this is an old old issue that came about AFTER GG was implemented in the game.

L2 _USED_ to legally run in most game emulator nux. not since gameguard.

Not supported does not mean you are not allowed to do so.

If indeed this is the case NCsoft might want to be courteous towards us players in amending the URL's I posted.

Not supported does not mean you are not allowed to do so.

I tried to get their support on the game once. Even after I managed to pinpoint the problem by myself (their new version of GameGuard started to conflict with PostgreSQL) and reported it to them, they still were trying to give me absolutely useless advice. So, their "not supported" actually means nothing.

The question is if you can run the game unmodified under the emulators. If you cannot run it without rendering GameGuard unoperable, running it is not allowed.

Indeed, Ncsoft does expect us to run the official client and it needs to be unmodified.

Example: Windows x64 does run the GG-application but the OS itself basically rejects the legacy rootkit-ish driver to install itself.

Futhermore I am pretty sure that by this time people using VMware product will be able to run L2 in a Virtual Windows XP setting. For Mac maybe Fusion might be the way to go.

I can't say for sure since, well I stopped playing all together until futher notice of course.
Yeah bootcamp works fine on my macbook pro. Its very stable and it seems to get better frame rates than my main PC oO It runs a bit hot tho. It might be cuz i still run beta bootcamp. I'm not shelling out for the new OS leopard or tiger or whatever cat thing they're up to now.
I think I'll state it a little more clearly. "We do not support..." means, "It may work, but if it breaks you can't come to us to fix it."

If you violate the EULA in any way (and the people in charge catch you), you will probably be banned.

Two completely separate statements.

I run Lineage2 on XP64. It runs just fine. I understand, though, that if an update comes along and makes L2 not work or crashes my system, I cannot turn to NC (West or otherwise) for help.

Hope that clears things up.
Wow, well i hope they will consider making a Mac version of the game then. Seams it would be very nice to have that. :)

Cheers!!

Oh, I think the days for a mac version of this game are long gone. Now don't get me wrong, I am very pro mac... I use a mac for my work (read: music) and my pc is essentially a glorified games machine.

But people have come and gone asking for a mac version of L2. At this stage in the game I really don't see it happening.
I understand what your saying Sovrath, no worries. Perhaps they will think about it then for L3.
Do i dare dream the imposible dream :D

Cheers!!
