A friend of mine started a Shilen Knight(he is lvl 40, with shield mastery lvl 3) and we noticed that when he uses shield with heavy armor aditional p def is not applyed. Did anyone notice this?! Does he need to do something so the p def will be applyed?!
ok I know that shield mastery would give more p def when shield is succesfull, but in gracia part 1 shield mastery from lvl 3 up it says aditional p def is applyed(so this makes me believe that the p def that we see is increased)
you wanted to say that only if heavy armor has bonush with shield the shield will give a p def increase in the stat window?

Shield Mastery 3 has two effects:
1. "Increases Shield Defense and defense rate."
You obviously need to have shield equipped for that. Works even without heavy armor.
2. "Additionally increases P. Def. when equipped with heavy armor."
You obviously need to have heavy armor equipped for that. Works even without shield.
That's why you don't see the PDef boost when you equip shield. You can see it when you learn the passive, though, even if you are without shield.
In vanguard mode later on, you will notice that pdef is decreased. That is mainly due to the shield mastery passive not being there. Whether you equip or unequip your shield in vanguard mode your pdef stays the same.
Also if you visit l2clac and put on your stats, you will see that you have more pdef than the calculator shows. That is the pdef that you had pre CT 2 (the calculator is outdated), so comparing that with your current pdef you can see the difference.
