sup. does SWS's sword/blunt mastery effect dual-swords ?
NO. period ;)
I don't think so.
78 Sword Muse and your answer was I don't think so? you mean in 78 levels you never tried Duals or even ask about them?
Ashley, I'm not an expert on all things in Lineage as you proclaim to be. I was pretty sure that SwS sword masteries didn't affect dual-swords, but I wasn't 100% sure. You are, and that's great. I'll learn from your infinite wisdom.
Yes, I used duals (+6 Spirit*Raids) from 40 to 52. Then I used a Damascus (+8) to a-grade. Then I used an Infernal Master (+5) until mid-60's, and I've been using a Bloody Orchid ever since (+12...I love it). I even tried my clannie's +9 Tallum*Dama for a bit.
The fact that I've tried duals isn't going to give me the answer about sword masteries affecting dual-swords. Am I to look at my dps using different weapons to know if my masteries are being applied? With my setup and buffs, a +7 Bloody Orchid WAY out-damages a +7 Infernal Master. A +7 Tallum*Dama WAY out-damages a +7 Infernal Master. So going strictly on dps alone, you're not going to know what's being applied.
I would suggest any weapon with a haste SA since none of your songs increase atk sp. Also if you don't have a buff pet PP with you then this might be a good choice.
Dual seem like a good idea. I just don't like the +4 part to get an Sa, also when S grd would you have money to pay 60m each to get a dual sword +4.
So I say speed and cost, then look into other options when you get money to burn.
As for the IM vs. BO+7 sure why not looks like a good choice if you can get one +7 and Sa. I think it would out DMG the IM just cuase it's top A, also a dagger with already higher crit rate.
IM vs. S grd duals no brainer of course it would put out more DPS, it's A grd vs. S grd. But i'm not sure what the Heavens div. would be better as an s grd sword, since you can haste that weapon as well.
So to sum it up ask yourself what you can afford and how you would like it work.
I myself speed and then songs for crit rate either sword and shield or 2hd sword

Yes I know that's why I always say I suck at PVP and I'm a NOOB on politics. Some of you High Levels really make me laugh. It's not that I know a lot far from it it's just so many are so clueless even after reaching nobel :D
When you up grade your Skill like sword masteries you will notice if you paid attention when using duals that your P atack don't go up as you learn the skill. (a lot this crap you can test on the PTS that's why I play the PTS every update 2 LEARN.)
However it does go up if you equip a sword.
The only way your P attack will go up (if using like Duals) is as you level or OE+++ a weapon that's not under your mastery.
+12 BO with focus is a very nice weapon( I would like one my self :)) however you would do fine with a + 10 Infernal Master (Focus) :D

How did you misquote me? I never said "seam"...I said "proclaim". But whatever.
I'm far from clueless on my SwS. But I can say that when I learned my masteries, I didn't write down what weapon I had at the time and checked if my patk went up or stayed the same. Maybe some people take note of these things, but I didn't.
BTW, I also have a +10 IM with Focus but the dps with the +12 BO is much higher on my SwS. I'm currently using the IM for my academy toons.

I wonder if that DPS or DPC
I know using a dagger would add more atk sp. and adding focus to the IM would take for ever to kill with.
So IM with haste would be nice for your SWS
I just have a feelng that getting a BO with focus +10 for under 700m is not within reach if your just starting out in this game and now made it to level 61+ or w/e.
It might just be me I like swords and sicne you get masteries for both and sword and blunt. I would recommend sword 2hnd 1hnd, but no blunt more ACC but no crit rate. So collect info and try it out.
I didn't even bother with blunts as the DPS was significantly lower. Of course the order of these will change depending on the OE. I just wanted to point out that the sword masteries we get, though they may help a bit, aren't as important as the weapon we choose.
Assume it's a 80 SwS with an IC Set, neutral tats, no AQ or Baium, and S grade weapons at +4
Test target used PvP Target option while facing each other along with self buffs for the target and soulshots.
Buffs for the SwS are 56 Prophet along with Warrior, Fury, Fire, Hunter
557.2 Tallum X DLE
657.7 Angel Slayer Haste
665.1 FB with Focus
683 HD with Focus
Then assuming you go +4 Str -4 Con
641.4 Tallum X DLE
757 AS with Haste
757.5 FB with Focus
779.3 HD with Focus
The damage variance between Duals and single/two handed swords are pretty large once you factor S grade SAs into the mix.
Also keep in mind that you'll see a even larger damage variance for weapons without Focus and with Focus as you progress later in game. Buffs such as CoV and Blessing of Queen along with AQ and Baium make duals quite gimpy in terms of DPS, although the S grade's HP/MP/CP option isn't too shabby for a SwS in prolonged fights.
hello!
Although im not an expert, i would recommend a 2h sword for grinding and for more pvp activity an sword and shield, cause we are not a tank, we support, and we should use our 2 low skills to enhance our shield bonus to improve and help our friends to keep living and, thus, get a victory!
a sws with a bow isnt bad either in pvp if you noticed no one is targetting you (which is always the case) or keep the 1h+shield and play "healer defense" a.k.a. harass/root anyone who gets in melee range of your squishies
sws are also handy to chase down their healers. it's entirely situational.
good trick is to run up to the melee after their healer with a shield but no weapon in hand...makes them think you're stupid and they won't worry about you. then just switch to a 2hand sword once you're where you need to be.
