I'm usually quiet in these forums but as of late I've had some thoughts going through my head.
First thing I wanna say is I HATED it when this server merge happened. I was in WO for a year... we accomplished a lot, but the downfall was when WO started recruiting anyone from Kain. WOs recruitment app was a joke.
No regrets tho... I was a part of the siege when we took Giran from the dwarves. Funny as hell! I was a part of the siege when we took Aden last May. That was the highlight of WO imo and say what you may but Damagon was a great leader and he's sorely missed. Gigls did a great job as well... kudos to her. I had good times in WO up until the end and have good memories that I'll always treasure. I'm not one to hold grudges.
After server merge, lots quit and now WO is basically an alt clan and merging with LP.
I dunno... maybe I'm just feeling a bit nostalgic and remembering the good ole days. Just so sad seeing yet another time when so many are quitting and the server is once again changing. Is it for the best? Time will tell but I guess those that have left have had enough.
Me? I log to chat with friends basically... and yea pve. To me L2 is all about the community... building friendships, working together and just plain having fun. I love the clan I'm now in. We work together and they're great people. To me that's what L2 is all about.

Like the real world, and just for the fact that many people are in this server, stuff changes a lot over time and it changes for the better or worse it's just another time to adapt and strive till a better time comes.
Also everyone, people like rohirrim, just ignore them and they will go away, don't respond to them, don't acknowledge their existence as he's just doing it for attention, don't give it to him.
But anyway it's just one of those times, we'll get through it :)

More than complaining i have seen her Dance. I guess thats to endear herself to the male population.
I was and may still be on her friends list...been a while so i can't remember which character. We made friends in EV competing for the same mobs...lol.
Personally i never saw her bot and she was a pretty nice person.

WO was coming apart before the merger, isolated in Lionna by their long bullying and botting practices they lost all of their castles but one (Dion if I remember well) by the time of the merger to an alliance of Mirage, Dragon Advocates and others; Aden went to Dragon Avocates a week before the merger. If anything the merger gave WO another chance to built back up by using Kain people that had a long history of resentment towards TJ (to whom WO tried to get close to and failed), Lionna people that felt they were fighting for Lionna in the new server, and by those Lionna clans that were attacked by TJ immediately after the merger for one reason or another.
I respect your memories inside WO but also understand that for many of us seeing a botter clan go down is no loss; I’ve seen many clans with people that did not cheat going down because of the excessive botting and bullying by clans like WO. For those clans and friends not longer playing Lineage I feel sad. :(

Nothing personal Norabeth but you're in BW so I wouldn't exactly call them innocents as far as botting goes... let's just drop that issue here and now.
Yea, I know all about WO bullying... take Bucum for example (aka Vince03/Kintzles) who posted earlier in this thread. He thrives on it just for the attention he needs. Good for him if that's how he gets his rocks off. Never recall WO holding Dion. The time I was in the clan we held Giran and then Aden and DA did NOT take it from us before merge. WO fell after the merge because their recruiting sucked and they were more concerned with numbers to fight the zerg.
I didn't start this thread to have it derailed into yet another "botting" thread. I was reflecting on the changes we've all seen on this server. To me it's sad for any large clan to go down the tubes. You get to know people. Just this last week I've had 3 close friends quit the game and it's sad unless you just don't give a **** about the L2 community.
I think the server is only dead when people start forcing others to choose between them or their other friends.
Which kinda strikes me as the same methods I've seen in some of the wars between the "top" clans. The whole "If you're not with us you're against us" mentality.
To those who aren't all about the end-game PVP and activities that surround it, is the server dying?
hell i've enjoyed this merger. We got more ppl on server and it shows. PVP clans got what they wanted at first and the rest of us got what we wanted, more ppl to play with.
I've made great friends from kian now and we are jkust one big happy fammilly. We always go do stuff toghter its fun. Never a doll moment now. i like that. For ppl who keep saying that Aria is dying.. i duno what their refering too.. but i think it mostly aims at the PvP aspect/politics of server. for the rest of us carebears i guess.... we are having just as much fun if not more so i dont see nothing wrong with Aria now...
I enjoyed the merge so far.. even if we got twice more bots, it wasnt enuff for me to call it quits... And now, it seams the bots are being reduced.. so all is well on Aria.... Have fun peeps!!!
@jkoster, welcome on Kain then as that's how it has been since C2
right now of the Lionna pvp clans only LP is left as an end game player, all the others went in hiding, disbanded or joined TJ/URnB (it's just a matter of time for BW to be absorbed by UR and they're not a factor anyways) all the other clans still fighting are from Kain
anyways ok the server isn't anywhere close to Teon or Franz with regards to activity but no Aria isn't dead.. not even on the end game side

Actually, I don't think this is a true conclusion, Ashley. No bots would be there if there wasn't a market for them to sell to. At this point in L2, if there are no bots there is one of two things happening: The server is dead, or there's just been a mass banning... The latter will remedy itself soon enough with new characters being created. The former is just sad.

before the bans there was bots buying from bots, regular players had a hard time to afford most things being sold. for example who would pay 400m for a dama*talum+4?
my guess was no one, but I did setup a shop and guess what...2 hours later they where sold and later on I saw that gladiator bot in blazing swamp.

There will always be one or two that isn't following the clan rules of not botting, but after setting an example of what happens if you get caught by the rest of the clan they don't dare to ask to re-join the clan.

We caught him botting and after kicked him and de-lvled him 10 lvls he stoped botting without shots and now he has a bishop healing him...not that it saves him when I see him botting...
btw HGMSpam (=spam=) can you please take a look at hes 2 accounts and ban him? we have reported him for months, but last I checked he was botting in Varka Silenos (he was lvl 60 after we de-lvled him when we kicked him from clan).

Boxing: you run 2 (or more if you can handle) clients on the same computer (or in different computers if you have) and you use the in-game macros that you are allowed to make and by using 1-3 quickbars you can put all you need there for almost every situation.
Playing while boxed isn't easy in some locations because you need to check regulary if your other char is lagging, stuck behing a rock, lost auto follow because of stun etc etc...and therefor many bots theyr boxed chars so that they don't need to pay attention to the boxed char.
Botting: you log the char you want to play and then just start the pre-programmed bot program with your 2nd char and it will do what it's programed to do. example: auto assist, auto heal, auto recharge, auto rez, auto pr, auto sit.
If you can tell the difference between a boxed char and a botted-boxed char then just look at the way the 2nd char is following the 1st char. If the 2nd char don't run after the 1st char, but runs directly to the location the 1st char is running to it's a very strong indication that it's a botted-box...or the way they run little, sit down, stand up run 2 steps sit down etc etc...also an idication of botted-box.

1st off: Insanity and Bucum, you are both utterly some of the most ******ed, pre-pubescant people I have had to suffer though the conversation of in this game. Your posts are more pathetic and immature than the hero chat that isnt shouting wtb/wts for people. So why dont you kids go get a real life before you try and play tough guy on a videogame to make up for all the ***** beatings you surely get on a daily basis at school.
2nd: Sharlanna, I'm sorry that your topic was turned into such a uneventful debating post about bots(yet again) and the constant back and forth between nice and legit people such as yourself, Ashley Hunter, Rohirrim, Silex, Draecke, etc against the idiocy of Insanity and Bucum.
3rd: To address the initial topic of whether the server is dying, I believe now that the GM's are showing some active interest in banning the bots more people will come back/stay playing the game because the ingame economy is going through the transition of bot-run to player-run(giving people more legit ways to make adena, etc). That meaning live people are going to be farming up mats, etc to get the economy back on it's feet and hopefully with repeated mass bannings the manor system will become more accessable to the everyday player yet again.
4th: Since I've read all this talk about TJ being so great from some people in this thread I would just like to remind them that had Rdogz not come apart TJ would still just be a mediocre sized semi-power in Aria politics. Because when Rdogz disbanded unfortunately a large majority or their players joined TJ/UR/Bregan because they're was really no other clans at the time to support a mass amount of end game players. To all you nice people from Lionna who may not know much about Rdogz, they were the clan that held 90% of the hero's back when they were active and TJ/UR/Bregan had to beg just to have hero status. That being said, they're are a few good people in TJ/UR/Bregan as they're are in every clan, so to those few I mean no disrespect.
Well, that was nice lil rant lol. And I hope to party with/see all the cool people(does not include Insanity/Bucum) that replied in this thread ingame soon.

I think Pirotesa is too dumb to realize that if you click on someone two times you follow that person and that after 20min passes you can switch screen to buff...then click yourself two times again and follow yourself another 20min <.<
Yea some are just too plain stupid to put 2 and 2 together. And those are people like Pirotesa who we have to unfortunately put up with ingame. You are right that it's imposible to controll 2 toons or more 100% of the time and that is what makes it hard at some hunting spots because you have to pay attention to more than just 1 char.
You have never PKed me and I have never seen you in game.
To having a character following you by using /target "name" /attack isn't botting. You are using a built in feature in the client.
It's so old that it's hard to find on theyr site (infact mine is the corded version that isn't even listed anymore).
It has no macro funtions or anything that helps me controlling my chars.
Why is my dual boxing the reason that people that can't handle dual boxing or the grinding to start botting?
Oh and one more thing. I only dual box if I can't find a live healer/buffer.
Anything else you want to flame me with? go ahead, but I have never used any 3rd party aplications that automates gameplay, I have never used any hardware (keyboards/mice/gamepads/what ever) that has advanced macro functions to help me dual box, I have never ebayed (still using b grade weapon at lvl 76).
And yes I have died many times while dual boxing because I was in the middle of pulling a room and didn't notice that my buffer in the coridor had gotten agro, or that my buffer got killed by AoE attacking mobs since she is following me to closely (again /target "name" /attack).
Because you can't handle playing 2 toons at the same time on 2 computers next to each other or 2 clients in window mode (both windows open and visible with decrease background performance off) on 1 computer doesn't mean that everyone that can is a bot.
I will agree that around 70% of those I see with a buffer/healer on follow are using 3rd party programs (bot programs) to automate healing, buffing, recharging etc etc for them. but don't blame me that theyr IQ is to low to controll 2 chars or more.
Get it out of your head that you you are not a detriment to the game, get it out of your head that you are not a bot, BECAUSE you ARE a bot whether you like it or not! NC soft just let's you be onem so you THINK it's ok.

Botting and dual-boxing are not...at base...the same thing. Yes, there are people that use automated programs and other such 'cheats' to make dual-boxing easier, and that's not okay. But not all dual-boxers are botted/automated. Using macros is not the same as automation. The macro useage that NC has given to us in the game is still pretty limited...you can't link macros to eachother, you can't automate warps, crafts, etc. or anything like that (which is fine by me)...and if you click on anything or type while executing a macro, it gets interrupted. So there is still plenty of attention required for macro-use with dual-boxers and the like. It's not foolproof.
As for people who use cheats/hacks/automation programs (third party crap) to automate their toons...that is the stuff that everyone so lovingly refers to as 'botting'. It's a term that's loosely thrown around as much as 'noob'. But unfortunately there's enough of both in this game that it warrants the abuse, I suppose. ^^

well putting the large amount of idiocy aside, i am not wrapped up in ANY, of the politics on Aria, i don't have time for that. ive played this game for years since beta. recently more of a casual player due to full time edumacation!
But in my experience it seems the bot population took a kick to the teeth, all those people you saw that you thought were part of the population, were just members of the "Soulless community", as blank as the stares on there pixelated faces. I Personally, who has always been pretty much alone in the l2 world, don't feel the server is really dying. Not anymore or any less legit players to talk to. Just more space for me to kill stuff without some automated jack *** taking my kills. or realizing "Im in his area" at some random time and attempting to kill me.
Lets face it, bots are cheat's they can play hours on end, no rest, infinate income, infinate exp, means infinately strong character after enough time. I agree that boxing is not botting, Do i box? no, the reason i don't box? because im a traditionalist, i beleive in playing my character and actually having people to interact with if im gonna have a buffer. that doesn't work out too often but i dont plan on changing. and ontop of that ive never looked into How to box anyway, i can't run two clients at the same time just doesnt let me, so i have no idea how others do it anyway.
Server merges don't bother me, my clan is some group of botting idiot's that id rather see banned and have me placed as leader. on top of that all server merge means to me is a possibility that more legit players may be squished into our server. but to me Kain... err aria.. has always been the same full of people who don't wanna know you, and the rest are just bots.
Yep... server's dead. Game over for me. When hardly any friends log that's when it's time to call it quits. I'll be cancelling 2 of my 3 accts but will hang onto Shar for a bit.
It's been a fun ride.. maybe I just need a break... dunno. But right now L2 is BORING.
And PLEASE stop all this crap talk about bots.. geez... talk about overkill. Like Tamoh said, it's like beating a dead horse with a stick so just deal with it or quit.
i cant join :( i used to 2box but it got too hard. also, my setup was all wrong. the SE was on the same account as the Tyrant. when i chose tyrant as new main, i couldnt two box unless i remade the tyrant on 2nd account. or SE. or w/e. so i didnt, and just shut the account down.

Same, though sometimes when I try to talk to random guys grinding same spot as me, even running infront of me taking my mobs, no respons ;x
But when I left the game (about 2 years ago) it was alot more crowded place, with only 4ppl grps with BD,dwarf,prophet,se, and they never used SS :P and never talked.so ty for removing alot of the bots at least :P

I have been playing L2 for almost 3 years and I have put alot of time into the game, I won't be leaving unless L3 comes out (and even then I doubt I will leave).
Please show me/us where in the EULA/Rules of Conduct it says that dual-boxing isn't allowed or ask a GM to post it here until then no one will listen to your posts that has no sence in them.

Actually, I think you are the one who should "**** this game" as you so eloquently put it. You are obviously in the minority (you and... well, just you), therefore I have more authority in telling you to get out than you have to tell me.
Even if we did all leave (which we won't) - as we've established, you'd be ALONE on these servers all by yourself. That's not the way the game is meant to be played either, is it? Not to even mention the fact that NCsoft would shut down L2 if you were the only player. Would you be happy then?

And YES, there are plenty of folks out there using BOTTING programs to run their BUFFBOTS! Just cause you run 1 or 2 using "condoned" botting keyboards/keypads does not make it right.
The problem may not be "you", but "you" are what started other players to use bot programs in the first place... this is even outside targeting PVP programs.
LoL. I can dual box an SE better than you play it as main. It's a no-brainer class. I 4 box daily for exp, triple box for raids. And have been doing so for over 3 years.
Playing only one account would be utterly boring for me at this point (and a waste for my 2nd and 3rd comp lol).
Even through boxing all that I still party with ppl, but what I don't do is sit around and wait for someone to log on. I go out and xp within minutes of logging on.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll give Aria a try, level to 20, and post my character info. I've played healer classes in other MMOs but I will explore both options :)
so what is it you seek to get out of your experience in Lineage2? are you mainly a pve'er, pvp'er. or a mix? possibly Rper? are you a no-life gamer or weekend warrior?
I'm more of mix between PvE and PvP. I do like to PvP but not as a totally green player in a new game lol. I'll try and learn fast. I have somewhat of a life but like MMOs as well as RL things. I just don't like MMOs that require too much of my time although I've been known to play 12 hours straight.
