Varguard compared to Destroyer

Human Classes Started Last reply 20 posts
I have been testing Palladin on Varguard stance, and i am not impressed at all. Now i wonder how a Knight on Varguard compare to a Destroyer ? There is an important difference on damage done for PvE purposes ?

Maybe a WS using two handed blunt could have similar p atk and PvE similar results ?
The vanguard stance was never mean't for you to achieve the physical prowess and potential compared to that of a Destroyer. The vanguard stance and the inquistor stance was made purely for an offensive purpose to help these low damage classes to be able to level easier in PvE. The stance is not recommended to PvP in nor is it meant to make you as powerful as warrior classes because that would not be fair to the pure warrior classes.
Im wondering if there is any difference between DA and Pally using 2h swrd on vanguard. According to http://www.lineage2.com/news/gracia_03.html
Paladins and Temple Knights will utilize the dual-swords, while Dark Avengers and Shilen Knights will use the two-handed swords.
I saw many Sk`s using duals or pallys using 2h swrds, so there is no difference between which one you prefer to use?
The Vaguard transformation has two main forms, one for the light tanks, Paladin and Temple Knight, and one for the dark tanks, Dark Avnger and Shiellen Knight

Light Vanguard = two handed weapon mastery and two handed weapon attack skills

Dark Vanguard = dual sword weapon mastery and dual sword attack skills

Each class also gets to keep some skills from their main form such as dark panther for dark avenger and cubics for temple knight and shiellen knight

it is recommend to get the weapon your mastery provides for, or you're just wasting it.
cool so official info lied ^^ im thinking of making a paladin second while i have some time but i prefer human look with 2h swd ;]
Imho even if you have the proper weapon, it's not really worth it, even when I was using the +10 Tsu*Sls from my SD on my DA sub in Vanguard stance, it wasn't really any difference in damage compared to when I used my onehanded sword (+6 Sword of Damascus)...
Also with onehanded sword I still have more pdef, shield defense and can stun mobs with the Shield Stun so for me it's pretty useless to use the Vanguard Stance with duals over regular onehanded sword+shield-setup.
Vanguard is for when the party has enough buffs/dps to not really need the skills of a tank, but they have a tank in the party and now he can dps a bit more.

It's also very hard to compare sword vs duals in dps, different atk speeds etc.
Not hard at all really, just need to check how much damage you do in a set period of time.
And when a party really don't need the skills of a tank, they usually tend to not be in the party anyway unfortunately.
In my opinion why play a tank class if your gonna use duals? Your better off just playing a gladiator or blade dancer and getting all the dual sword skills. Since now tanks get dual sword or 2 handed sword option should we stop there or should we give gladiators ultimate defense from the tank classes?

Blade dancers get it only cuz they are a knight class from 20 to 40 so should Gladiators get it since paladins and Dark Avengers are getting thier dual sword option?

No.

Unlike a BD the Gladiator derive from the warrior tree like the Warsmith Bounty hunters and Warlords. The only reason a BD gets UD lvl 1 is because during the lvls 20-40 they are considered Knights. Gladiators are never at any point in the game considered knights.
As you can see by my quote you put in i already stated that Blade Dancers got ud cuz of the 20-40 Knight class they are in. Knights aren't warriors like Gladiators so why should they have a dual sword or 2 handed sword skill in the 1st place. To balance it out give Warriors a skill from the Knight class.

No, Warriors are fine as how they are now.
Tanks needed some help with soloing and/or doing dmg in a party, so they gave them this DD stance, it's only good for PvE, for PvP you're better off being in your normal stance.
(Healers are another story, but that's not what this topic is about)
From what i've seen it was just an excuse to waste more sp on a lame unneeded skill and my examples i've allready stated where every toon in game is using dual swords that i'm sure knight classes before using duals without vanguard did just fine so now if paladins have dual swords they are a gladiator , and a sk with duals is a blade dancer.

The skills set might be different but by looking at them in game that's what you see so why not just play the dual sword class if you want dual sword skills so bad?
A tank is a tank, a warrior is a warrior.
Tanks with vanguard dualsword mastery is only to make it easier for them to PvE, the main thing that someone wants to play a tank is to be one in party IF needed or highend PvP, but to get there PvE must be done, vanguard makes it just a bit easier to get there.

Playing a Gladi has a whole other reason, it's about doing as much dmg you can, in PvE as in PvP.

Only the looks are the same, but the end result is totally different.
I dont get it why Vanguard makes DA to use doubled-handed sword. A DA uses from it self a one-handed sword and a shield. Meaning, for vanguard to be usefull, i need to buy another weapon.. which kinda sucks..

I like my explanation better though where vanguard lets tanks play make believe and i still think it's useless cuz i see non dual sword users lvling just fine without a special skill to use duals. I know i'd lvl just fine with a shield and sword on my TK if i hadn't deleted him. Raising the power strike from it maxing out while your a No grade is what they shoulda fixed if you really think about it instead of adding a useless skill they could have let a skill that was already there be raised .

vanguard isnt waste of sp at all for instance im pveing in pavel ruins and doesnt matter if im gonna be on normal stance+majesty or on vanguard with lower p def the mobs there barely move my hp down but on vanguard i kill way faster and its way more shots-efficient + u can do over-hits with the 2 skills u get something u cant do with lolpower strike

Look up warrior and knight, not DD(which you didn't, I know) and Tank.
