I am here to read messages, not scroll through animated images...
Imagine a board where everybody has such signature images. It would be like "one line of text, large animated picture, one line of text, another large animated picture", and of course, if the thread is a heated exchange between two or three people, you would see the same **** images again and again and again.
"no pictures" was one of the best features of the old board.
And I also don't really understand what's so important about signature images. By now everybody knows what a human archer in drac light looks like :D
Have to agree this is a reason I dont whant to have signatures.
If there should be signatures there should be alot of restrictions, width hight size etc.
It's true... sigs, if they were limited on height and width might be okay... some boards actually automatically reduce them to the "right" size, which is nice. But mostly they are distractions that u have to see over and over again. I don't want them in these boards.

it's the most annoying thing about unofficial forums... 200X400 pixels of someones photoshopped ego to read one line of comment.

For those of you who don't like images in signatures, I would like to point out to you that you can turn them off in your user CP (http://boards.lineage2.com/usercp.php).
This way, everyone can get what they want. Those who want images can have images, those who don't want to see images don't have to see them.
I'm one of those people who want signatures. As long as they're clean/workplace safe (not like some of the sigs on bleh) I really enjoy seeing signatures. I love photoshopping, it's a hobby of mine, in fact, I spend a great deal of time over at worth1000 and deviantart. I enjoy seeing other people's sigs, getting new ideas and everything. I really appreciate good sigs.
Like others have pointed out - give us the option to have sigs and then the people who don't want to see them can disable them. With the option to disable them available, there is no reason to force everyone to have no sigs just to please those who don't want them (and could disable them anyway!)

Well, actually, it doesn't give you the option to not show images in signatures. i don't want to block signatures altogether because i want to know who the person is when the board name rarely tells you. I want to block image signatures.
While yours is very sweet, Adelei, imagine you answering this message 5 times with one-line posts... yet I have to view your signature, which is 10 times the size of your posts every single time. Ya, I don't want to :D

Oh and me? Make 5 posts that are 1 liners in a single thread? LOL I'd be shocked if you could find 5 1-liner posts EVER made by me. :p (I know you weren't just referring to me... but I just had to point out... ^^ )
But really, I totally agree with you about the huge sigs. Mine's even too big but I don't have any others on this comp and I don't feel like turning my other comp on just for this thread. My ideal dimensions for a sig on these forums would be like a maximum of 100 pixels high / 600 pixels wide. It might need to be slightly smaller (or perhaps it could be slightly larger), but I think something around 100x600 would be perfect for these forums. If you'll notice, no matter how short our post is, it still takes up a certain amount of room because of all the stuff on the left (avator, post count, buttons, etc.) If the sig size was small enough, we could have one without altering the size of our post at all (in other words, it would fit into our post, not enlarge it.)

I want to see images in the messages (e.g. if someone writes a quest walkthrough with a map pic or something like that) and I want to see signatures (text), I just don't want to see images in signatures. Guess they'd need to create another option for me >.<
I'm going to throw my 2 cents in and say no signatures. Signatures just make the forum look tacky. No signatures is much more professional look to the forums. Don't make the forums even more like L2Blah by allowing images in the signature!
