Why aren't all the clan halls in all the towns open for occupation? If you walk around most of these towns you can see clan halls that are not activated. It is obvious they are clan halls without the NPCs at the doors. Some of them you can see through the cracks in the doors.
If they would turn these dormant clan halls on we would have two to three times more clan halls. If they can't be turned on I would love to hear why.
While I do sympathize with you, those people can reactivate their accounts at any time they choose (unless they were all banned), so I don't think they should have something taken away from them when they have worked for it. You can get a fortress that provides almost equivalent function to a clan hall if you want.
If Clan Leader account are banned, and they own the Clan Hall, I do think that NCSoft should put the CH up for auction, though.
There was a clan that was inactive for almost a year on Bartz and they came back and started using their clan halls, so I don't think that would be fair.
and BTW, if an account that owns clan hall is inactive for more than a week, the taxes will lapse on it and it'll go up for auction... ppl will keep an account open and just log in once a week to pay the taxes on house sometimes if they quit playing for a while sometimes, but, an inactive account wont have a clan hall past 2 weeks because the taxes will lapse.
Clan halls in Heine and Oren would be nice.
Frankly, I'd like the ability to convert one of the empty buildings that you see out in the wilderness to a clan hall... or even some kind of a personal dwelling.
There's a lovely farmhouse out in the neutral zone that would make an awesome 2 story clan hall...

Totally incorrect. The adena for a CH comes out of the clan WH. As long as there is adena in the WH the clan will keep the CH. The clan leader doesn't have to be active.
I agree that if NCSoft has determined a permanent ban on the Clan Leader that has a Clan Hall, that the clan hall should be released for auction. Anyone who has lived without a clan hall can relate I think.
What is nice about them:
The buffs you get
A centralized place for everyone to gather.
You get 500a ports to hunting areas close by.
Having a clan hall is a great thing. I wish there were more of them, actually, and would like to see those empty buildings turned into them. They have a beneficent effect on clans and add to the experience of playing the game.

+1
I think you are saying the siegeable clan halls??? Those are okay but there are just a handful of them. [They are fun because you can hit each other there, as they are not safe zones... which also means you aren't regening vitality when you are there afk.] You also don't have the improved MP/HP/CP regen there either, I believe, as you can't add carpets and the like. However, they are not permanent, and you can lose them.
Fortresses are only good for 3 days at a time, too.
IMO, these are meant as temporary residences, so they are a temporary solution.
I wish the forts were more than 3 days though. Maybe a week, it would make it a lot nicer to take them and use them. :)
Yes, but with the way people were monopolizing them with alt clans for the dungeons, etc. NCSoft had to nerf them. You used to keep them forever after you took them, but people stopped doing the Fortress seiges except to farm epulettes.
i'm sorry...i can't hear you from my rune clan hall. speak a bit louder, please?
in all seriousness, though, i've always wanted all of the buildings to be inhabitable. i'm not the clan leader, i'm just using the clan to keep my fenrir in snow form.
there's another game coming out soon that's very close to l2 but there's only a few select starter towns and a barren landscape. the players themselves build cities, fortresses, castles, etc. to shape the world they're in and the opposing clans can also destroy them to some degree.
in the evolving mmo world, using the buildings that l2 already has would be a good move. it'd also bring down the price of clan halls from the 2 billion adena ebay standard.
everyone in clan recently donated tons of adena to get our clan a clan hall in giran....
I miss devestated castle, it was better... better ports, EAD/EAC/EAB purchaseable cheap and costs nothing but a hour or so every other week to own dev castle... giran has only 3 ports, they're all to lv50 or under areas and you can't enchants from clan hall... oh well, at least we own one now, save us a hour or so every other friday :| maybe eventually they'll put snow wolf at all a-grade clan halls instead of just aden/rune ones, it'd be worth it then :|
and at least if we get in a war, the clan we're fighting wont be able to prevent us from taking our clan hall

oh, and 2bil isn't that much... 2bil/100 members is only about 20mil ea... clan hall costs will go up alot I think when 2bil adena in clan warehouse max is lifted.
Yes, Pyro, I sort of agree. When our clan first transferred over to Bartz we went for first the Beast Farm clan hall, and then the Borderland Clan Hall. Borderland was pretty great, as it had direct ports to Aden area and Giran and Goddard was right out our door... and we had the cute lil Piggie Agliathon at the Beast Farm one! And, like I said, they aren't safe zones, so you can pvp play in the hall, kill red clan members in a safe environment, and all the other fun stuff.
The siegable clan halls have their advantages, but they aren't permanent, so I guess that's why.
we're not allowed to advertise or even mention other games on these forums (including nc games unless the rules have changed) so i can't tell you which one...starts with an 's' though.
even still...when blade and soul comes over for ps3, i'm a ghost in l2. little fox dood, here i come!!
I'm not a fan of console MMORPGs, and I've tried a few, Lol.
Maybe different these days with the more powerful systems and keyboards/mice for them. Don't think I'll ever play another NCSoft game after I quit this one next year, though.
i hated how unfinished guild wars seemed to be. just seemed like they quit half-way through in developing how everyone reacts with eachother. and no collision detection is a huge turn-off for me...number one reason i hate wow besides the fact that someone made a level 70 toon in wow in 37 actual in-game hours.
