Never played a Sorc - sorry
I play an SH - AWESOME
Sorc are strong - However their MP makes it harder to level & I think there SP for skills is expensive, compared to other nuker classes!
I can tell you a Sorc looks better in DC then SH. Lol :)
I love my Sorcerer because to me male human mystic is cool looking (especially after subclassing and wearing DC heavy...). BtM does help a bit, but yes there are lots of time i just sat and regen my MP since I don't dual box and solo most of the time.

Basically a Sorc will say go Sorc if,
1.) Willing to dual box a regenerator for MP
(regenerator where do I get these words from? lol)
OR
2.) If your going to Solo with out a dual box, then be willing to sit for a bit, to regenerate.
Both classes are fun nuker classes. Once you get into a clan, they will most likely help you out & you might not have to solo that much or worry about your MP...
With an SH, I think they are easier to solo...
SH deals with numerous different nukes (wind/fire/dark attacks)
a Sorc is good for AOE, but they lack other types of nukes (mostly Fire damage)
Body to Mind is overrated, though. It shouldn't be such a huge factor to you, IMO.
Without Buffer I'd go SH > Necro > SPS > Sorc.
SH/Necro is very good because it has Death Spike which has extreme efficiency, and SH also has Hurricane Seed of Wind to level in plaecs where the mobs may be Dark Resist (some areas in BS, FoTD, Shrine, etc.).
2 Shotting with Death Spike will save you 38 MP. A Sorc gets like 20 MP from its Body to Mind. Body to mind 5 gives you 61 MP, so using the Cursed Bone nuke will give those classes a much better uptime/mp efficiency than the other two.
Sorc can AE in places like Catacombos, though, if you have a poler.
I'm thinking about subbing Sorc on my OL and SH on my SE, so that I have all nukers~ :P

SH is kindof low on PvP,
i killed a level 61 SH with a 49 necro before with a flawless victory, just due to the fact that he casted too slow.
while slightly moving in It was a gloom, death spike->cancel, death spike, deathspike-cancel, silence, he started running, fear , he ran into a tree, anchor, gameover. and didnt even hit me once.
This is after of course I started pvping a while with the necro cause when i started i sucked bad. Then i started taking on two at a time cause i knew what to do at each situation.
The classes i killed was-
Tyrant, spellhowler, treasurehunter, overlord, arbelestor, warlock, warsmith, necromancer, shiellen knight, dark avenger, sorcerer, phantom ranger, plainswalker, destroyer, soul breaker, bishop, warcryer
The classes whom killed me were
treasure hunter, warsmith, elven elder, spellsinger, beserker, soul breaker, hawkeye, necromancer, sorcerer, phantom summoner, dark avenger
The classes who wiped the floor with me'
spellsinger(casts way too fast and resists a lot), phantom summoner(betray and nukes with strong summon sucks)

I'm tired of you coming in here trying to say how imba Necros are (in a roundabout way).
Do you have any clue what you're talking about? Do you know the resist rate of nukes cast on mobs/players 12 levels above you? And the landrate of Curses on those players?
Do you know how much damage a Necro does to a Spellhowler in A Grade jewels, when that necro is level 49 and 12 levels below the target?
Do you know that there is very little casting speed difference between a Necro in Karmian and an SH in DC Robes, and that your LOLDamage would have a hard time interrupting it, even after Gloom (hi, My name is Concentration, I'm a buff)?
Do you know that an SH that level can probably 3 shot a necro through Transfer Pain 1?
Stop telling these stories. It's getting bored. Necro is strong, but I'd roll even the best Necro on an SH with that kind level difference. It's a TRIVIAL fight. AN SPS 12 levels lower than me cannot beat me even without transfer pain and without using curses. I will cast through his damage and kill him with just nukes. Characters that low do not hit that hard, and they get resisted quite a bit.
SH would kill you before you did all that, and your landrate on curses would NOT be that high. You would actually get interrupted more than the SH would, cause it would be hitting for 1.5k+ damage (throught XFer pain) and you'd be hitting for like 850ish. The SH would roll you without having to move. You would die before you got into 600 range to debuff, and evne then, half of them would bounce/resist on the first cast. I know that, cause I've tried it.
A 61 SH can probably silence a 49 Necro with about 85% chance due to level difference and much higher M.Atk (and low M.Def on C Grader).
So what's next? The SH was in Karmian with Binding Jewel set, too?
ROFL. You're quite a storyteller. I'll give you that. It's getting disgusting, though.
I am not a fan of fiction, but gratz on leveling a Necro to B Grade. Lol.
If an SH can't cast anything, how does a PS cast Betray and not get silenced/anchore/feared/etc. It's not a 900 range skill... I am just wondering! PS cannot cure Anchor that those low levels, so couldn't you have just Anchored the pet and killed the Summoner easily?

Yes a SH has low casting speed, but with the extra 15% casting you can get from enchanting weapons & 15% from armour sets, as well as buffs. At your Necro's level & the SH's level. I would think the SH would win. Un-less the SH was un-buffed, new & has not PVP'd very often... There's so many different factors in PVP.
Congrats thou on all you PVPing with your Necro :)
OP go with which ever class you like. All nuker classes have strength & weaknesses... Everyone has there own & different opinions. Just pick a class you will enjoy & have fun with!

Yea but he wasn't new, he killed my hunting buddy, i told him not to fight back and let him go red, but he did it anyway and was killed, and since "hey I'm alone faraway from towns, port location, etc. might as well wing it, and haha i won with flying colors :D. Then turns out a big pvp fest was going on outside of giran so i got a few buddies together and we just stuck together and fought, would have been a lot better with a bishop. but a good group with a 2 SH, 2 necros, 1 SK, 1 SPS, 1 PS, and a TH
but though necromancer is a fun class, DA/HK over all, (sorry thats me being biased)
I had a spellhowler before and it leveled really fast (before vitality) but after a while... it just got boring to me. But that's my opinion. Don't pick what is best to use, but pick what is the most fun to you. A lot of people have forgotten this but, this is a game SO HAVE FUN!

That is true but with two casters casting the same spell, the one who casts the fastest will shoot it first. Also mdef is lowered when affected by curse gloom.

He was in DC robe idk about jews but my nukes hit for 300-400 per shot with gloom.

If an SH can't cast anything, how does a PS cast Betray and not get silenced/anchore/feared/etc. Because the PS stayed far out of range of me to where i couldn't nuke him but was getting pounded by my zombie till it was betrayed and came running back to kill me. It's not a 900 range skill... I am just wondering! PS cannot cure Anchor that those low levels, so couldn't you have just Anchored the pet and killed the Summoner easily? Well due to the fact that with PS buffs the nightshade had fast attack speed, fast speed, and hit hard with critical buffs too and with my own summon hitting me aswell, that was a bad situation so at 400 range it came in and cancelled me so anchor and fear were done so i had to kite it with vamp claw and then it wasn't enough. with the boosts to summons in CT2, that summon hit hard and took all damage like a beast.
I give it to summoners, they were tough cookies but now...wow.

I don't want to sound mean, but mix-posting (posting in a different color inside of a quoted post) wastes space on the boards and makes it very hard to read the response. Second time I asked you not to reply to me mix-posting my post this way...
Don't wanna know the story, don't care for more fiction.
Secondly, you don't need to tell me about the game mechanics :) I've done more than enough testing on landrates/etc. with my Necro. I Anchor a Storm Screamer 76 about 1 out of 20 times in DC Robes, and it's 1 level lower than me in Majestic Jewels. So if you did Anchor it, you were very lucky (that doesn't get reliable until you have levels over the person, and a very +++ Chance Anchor OE). I tried it and I haev MBarrier/Zerk/Emp/Mental Shield/etc. buffers.
Silence will land with almost identical rate when you are 12 levels below someone. Debuff rate is very level-difference-dependent. That's why I used to laugh at the stories people used to throw around about Necros 20 levels under them killing them almost all the time. To get Anchored so consistently by a character so many levels under you is a phenomenon.
For you to land all of those debuffs with seeminly no high resist rate is a phenomenon, especially things like Silence and Curse Fear, because Mental Shield is all you need to become near-immune to that when you are so many levels higher than the Necro/SH. When I was level 70 PvPing against S Graders (ganking PvE parties, etc.) I could hardly land any debuffs. After getting to 72 it's like God blessed that character. Everything was landing about 75% more often. That's how much the levels count. Low level Necros are useless debuffers. Gloom bots, mind you, and only cause Gloom has such a fast Cast/Recast speed that they can cast it over and over again until it lands.
300-400 Per shot with Gloom illustrates my point. A level 48 Death Spike has paltry power compared to a level 60 Hurricane/Death Spike. An SH with A Grade weapon would do over twice that damage to you (in the 1-1.2k range). He was likely wearing Majestic Jewelry. An SH that level could just stand there and cast on the Necro and kill it, through transfer pain, in about 3-4 shots. An SH in DC Robe Set with Acumen Weapon and Acumen and/or Zerk cast about the same as a Necro in Karmian Set with an Acumen Weapon - maybe faster, I will check that in a few minutes. With Zerk, the SH is probably faster. You don't even have all of your Fast Spell Casting Passives, and he does...
Whoever casts the first nuke only wins if their Burst DPS is so high that they can kill even through other toon's damage, or if they have enough damage on the nuke to Interrupt the other person.
300-400 Damage isn't enough to get 2 interrupts in 3 nukes on a Spellhowler in DC Robe Set with a Concentration buff. That's also a phenomenon. To get interrupted by such damage means that a Spellhowler would not be able to cast through a 6x dagger auto-attacking it... Interrupts is based on Damage. The more damage, the higher the chance to interrupt. 300-400 damage is a non-factor amount of damage.
I don't need it explained to me because I have tried such things (in MDT and on alts, you know my roomate has a lower Necro that I use to PL my buffers). The SH would simply stand there and cast through anything, killing you rather quickly. You will not interrupt an SH with 300-400 damage, but his 900-1200 damage nukes (because you have C Gear and he has higher spell power and A weapoon) will be interrupting you.
As for the PS. Anchor the PS Summon, and usually you delete your low level summon before you fight them. 49 Necro has Transfer Pain 1 which is pretty non-factor. No Corrupted man > having a Corrupted Man Betrayed on you.
Furthermore, you can just Anchor the Servitor and kill the Phantom Summoner, because they don't get Purify for their Servitors until ~mid-60s.
PS Death Spike has less power than their Shadow Spark for a few levels after they learn it. StSc friend has a PS sub :)
Summoners get no Critical Buffs for their Summons, and the summons crit so infrequently when Summoner-buffed that it's not a problem. Summoners have no Acumen buff for their summons, so they have 333 Casting Speed. Servitors have about 370 Attack Speed with Servitor Haste 2. Their Attack and Casting Speed is slow. Their M.Def and P.Def is low at those levels.
You deserved to get betrayed, sending a Corrupted Man in when you could just nuke with it from 900 Range (forcing the PS to run into debuff range to Betray, oh, and I know the range on it I have a Warlock with it).
Hit hard, take damage, yada yada. Anchor the summon and ignore it. Summoner can't cure it, think. Unless you think a PS can outnuke a Necro (well a necro 12 levels lower they probably can, sicne they have a higher TP...).
Nec C. Spd: 612
SH C. Spd: 661 - It will have higher M.Def
Necro Zerk and SH none, same casting speed. SH Zerk and Necro None, /laugh.
So much for getting the shot off first. A grade SH can prolly 2 shot that.
Necro is missing a level of Fast Spell Casting, so it has no casting speed advantage over an SH with that level/gear disparity. Also take into account spell power differences. The 61 SH will plummel a 49 Necro.
An SPS may have faster casting speed than the SH, but with the kind of damage it will be doing... The SH will just stand there and drop it in 2-3 nukes also, if it is same level as the Necro. You get way too many resist and your damage is too low with that level difference.
I need to fraps some Necro vs. SH duels and show you what the resist rate is like even when the characters are almost same level with SE/OL buffs. It is not that impressive pre-S Grade. Necro casts < 100 faster than SH [with those buffs] and sometimes the SH interrupts me when we duel (we do that a lot to waste time) than I do him.
I remember wininng 3 duels in a row though, Gloom + Vortex Crits O.O

Fun blablabla have fun blabalbla fun blablabla
Just give accurate information, thx.
Show some dual videos :) hehe
I would love to see a SH & Necro in action!
I really don't know how I do it, but for some reason I land things a lot on the characters I play, even on those who are higher level than me. Even some of my clannies are confused about it. I considered myself lucky and made a TH to usesome of that luck to an advantage, to my dissapointment i miss stabs consistently even from behind. :(
Also on the L2 calc thing you pulled up, you need to factor in +4 int -4men, +4wit -4men, +4con -4 str which gives me a higher damage and cast speed with lesser m def (which is not needed much if you don't take damage) and I have newbie buffs and clan hall buffs which basically added BTB and zerk which gave even more damage and cast speed. Also i figured the SH was 61, 62 cause he was wearing dc with a SoM (no glow) and was seen getting newbie buffs. I figure all he had were newbie buffs. He probably had no tats either.
Sorry about the red but I need a reference to what I was answering to because there was a lot of text.
2. You can put the tats on in L2Calc, an SH with DC Set gets the +15 Casting Speed form Set and SoM/Acumen as well as an extra +2 WIT. The SH has Fast Spell Casting 3 and the Necro only has Karmian/Acu Weapon/Fast Spell Casting 2. The SH casts faster than the Necro with that level/gear disparity.
Those are Tatted Stats, with 52 PP and SE Buffs. Both Characters have Zerk and even if the Necro had Zerk the casting speed would be the same if the SH didn't have Zerk. I illustrated that, and you can check it easily yourself. Blessed Body 6 won't help you that much, cause a 49 Necro has C Grade Jewels and an SA'd A Grade weapon will let the SH outdamage a necro nuking for 3-400 about 3 to 1 or more (low M.Def vs. Higher M.Atk/Spell Power + 5% PvP bonus for SA on A Grade weapon). Most A Grade nukers have +3 SoMs (too expensive top A mage weapons), so that's quite normal.
The SH would stand there and plummel you. A 49 Necro will get interrupted A LOT more than a 61 SH because it will be takingn A LOT more damage than the SH will. You will be lucky to interrupt SH once with those kinds of nukes (not even mentioning Resists, etc.).
Seriously... You know that you need tats at level 49, you think a 61/62 SH in TOP A Grade nuker gear is running around untatted? It's hard to XP without tats on a nuker, much less PvP. He can have grocery store tats. He'll only have like 30-35 Less M.Def (with Gloom on) if he had those cheap ones (that's an assumption, haven't checked those numbers, yet).
Fun story, but almost impossible for this to pan out that way.
3. Mix-Posting [with diff colors] makes it hard for people to read the post, and reply back. Paragraphs are used so that you can break up the message with quote tags and reply to whichever parts you deem worthy.
And for the guy with the SH haha *cough* i can nuke and i have been nuking SH 4 -6 lvls above me > easy!!
68 Sps with DC and SA acumen , Maj Jew vs 72 SH same equpment - have a wild guess.9 out of 10 and the 1 time he killed me , he got a lucky silence.Lucky cuz i didn't start with hydro but tried diferent stuff like aura flash and surrender.
At my lvl only thing that can kill me 1v1 is maybe an archer ,dagger and a summoner.
Not saying Sorc or SH are bad just saying if you are considering pvp , consider a sps too.
Did you read this whole thread?
He's comparing a battle between a Necro level 49 & a SH level 61. He never said you can't interrupt a SH, he's saying the Necro shouldn't be able to interrupt an SH, with there armour/tats/ jewels/levels, & everything else.

Yea I read it.
I think he meant you should not be able interrupt so easy so many times. I Watch Knight PVP his nerco on higher lvls and either a lot of SH can't play they class or he just dam good with a Nerco. or Nerco is just flat out over powered.
But just look at every PVP fight and see what you mostly see coming that's owning everyone. the same 2 classes.

HE's & Necro's ;)
Doesn't the SPS deal the highest damage out of all the nukers?
Have you seen Knight pvp a SPS?
It could be both: He's good on his Necro & or the SH needs more PVP practice! my SH does.
I'm not saying Knight isn't good. However, Necro's have ALWAYS been one of the most powerful classes in the game. Because of there level difference & the stuff Knight mentioned the other SH to be wearing. Interruption for the SH, should of been much less then for the Necro.
Sorcerers play with fire. Spellhowlers play with Wind. I have literally been on fire and I can tell you, it hurts. I have never directly been injured by Wind. Oh sure, I've had wind blow little bits of rock and dust directly into my eyeballs, which of course, hurt like hell but Wind on its own is no threat.

AshleyHunter, how does a Phantom Summoner cast Focus, Death Whisper, and Guidance on his Souless, Shadow, or Silohette?
Can I have a guess?
I have a Warlock, I cannot give my Kai Blessed Body, Blessed Soul, and Haste.
Gratz, you can buff them to your 56 Summon, Summoner still doesn't get Crit Buffs for their summon. The summon gets those buffs, and if you don't have that summon out, you aren't getting any of them without an OOP buffer.
Now, how stupid are you making yourself look?
And no, you cannot Interrupt an SH with you bare hands on a WC - not with any factorable frequency (enough to win the fight), unless you're spamming and landing stuns or the SH is unbuffed.
Over time yes but Highest Damage hell no they have the 2nd lowest. the Only nuker they can out damage is a WC/OL.
Humans and Dark Elfs have a much higher INT then Elfs.
No.
Just stop posting in this thread. You are destroying it.
High Casting Casting Speed/Crit Rate = High Burst DPS.
Higher INT/Lower Casting Speed = Better Sustained DPS
Death Spike/Body To Mind = Even Better Sustained DPS, if the mobs aren't Dark Resistant
SPS is the least efficient nuker due to their casting speed. They run empty too fast, and don't really regen much while they are nuking. A fully-buffed SPS (1.9k+ casting speed) can be out of mana in less than a minute, and almost every other nuker will outlast it, and with full buffs, surpass it in total damage (Sorc is borderline).
Clans love Necros and Spellhowlers for raids/castle dungeon bosses (and groups for something like Kama), because their sustained DPS is uber due to mana efficiency (50 MP vs. 69 MP when Death Spiking is a HUGE) and they have max levels of Body to Mind (which can be OE'd +1 for +70 MP per cast).
Sorc is kinda middle of the road, but their PvP utility is the least among the nuking classes, so most people will go almost any of the others before Sorcerer/ess.
Full-buffed, damage over time (sustained DPS), almost every nuke will come out on top of an SPS. They simply empty out too fast and require too much support to reach competitive efficiency.

If you LOOK at my link in my post I was pointing out the fact that the Night Shade does the buffing of the Critt buffs and when it was added duh.

Clans love Necros and Spellhowlers for epic raids, because their sustained DPS is uber.
Sorc is kinda middle of the road, but their PvP utility is the least among the nuking classes, so most people will go almost any of the others before Sorcerer/ess.
Dummy the question was high Damage not DPS and I said Humans and Dark Elfes have Higher Damage so How is it I'm destroying (spelled correctly) the tread?
And no, you cannot Interrupt an SH with you bare hands on a WC - not with any factorable frequency (enough to win the fight), unless you're spamming and landing stuns or the SH is unbuffed.
Yes you can Interrupt an SH with you bare hands on a WC I have done it many times and no STUN I said bare Hands!
And who said win a fight? I'm fighting with my Bare Hands who said I was going win a Fight? I was pointing out that you don't have 2 do a lot of damage 2 Interrupt a SH. Just were did you see me said I owned a SH with my bare Hands? please point it out so I can correct the post.
IMHO.. and having experienced both SHs and SPSs.. I can tell you that never again I'll play a SPS.
Even yesterday I rolled 4 times in a row.. a 3 lvl higher SPS, on my 59 SH.
If you know what you're doing.. what can a SPS do.. cast 2 nukes before silence lands? Then he's mine.. but my nukes actually hurt.. instead of making him tickle. And Silence > Cancel... :P

If an SPS attacks you from range, you will never silence it. Ice Vortex + Frost Bolt = good fight.
It's not SPS > All rant, it's just truth that SPS is a strong nuker for ganks and 1v1s.
Only time SH can easily beat an SPS is at 79+ with Slug/Empowering Echo, or if they have incredible gear advantages.
Dummy the question was high Damage not DPS and I said Humans and Dark Elfes have Higher Damage so How is it I'm destroying (spelled correctly) the tread?
SPS has the lowest damage/nuke of all the nukers, cause it has the least M.Atk. It also has one of the easiest elements to attribute armor with resist against (Fire/Water stones). You are still wrong, cause you said that they had the best damage, and they don't.
Damage should be discussed as burst and sustained damage. SPS has higher burst damage due to casting speed, but its sustained damage is notoriously horrible, and that's why you need more support than other nuking classes.
Yes you can Interrupt an SH with you bare hands on a WC I have done it many times and no STUN I said bare Hands!
Then the SH was unbuffed. An SH with Malaria, Acumen, and Zerk has casting speed about >= than of a Necro with Zerk and Acumen. Hot Springs is such a hot spot because everyone's always going there for Cholera/Malaria.

You're spouting fiction, anyways. I don't even know why I responded to such a stupid post.
But even before you Cast Ice Vortex.. and if a SH is in front of you.. he can: DS (faster cast time.. that WILL interrupt).. and then silence.
SPS is an Elemental Nuker class, and it is strong because it has a lot of utility.
Ice Vortex is strong, it's a -30% slow that stacks with Frost Bolt. An SPS can outrun dashed Gladiators with those slows stacked on them.
Death Spike has the same casting time as any other nuke. What are you talking about?
Get a clue.
The only reason why SH talk about doing Death Spike after Hurricane is because using different nukes will avoid the cooldown that may still be ticking on Hurricane.
lulz
All nukes have the same casting time, except Vortices and Overhits (which have slower casting time and reuse). For example, CDL has the same casting time as Death Spike has the same Casting time as Hurricane.
The only time Death Spike is faster is when ur cating Hurricane on an SH and Death Spike on a Necro (faster casting speed).
The person said does SPS do High Damage I said no it don't it does over time and yes they run out but over time with they fast casting speed and decent INT they will do more damage over time before they run out.
I was answering the person question so far all you doing is saying the same dam thing I said or taking about crap I was not even talking about.
and no it's not fiction bring your SPS over and I will show you personally :p

How is this true?
How can an SPS run out of mana and say "I DID MORE DMG OVER TIME!" When an SH/Sorc/Necro is still nuking and has the same cost on Hurricane with some mana left?
You are making no sense...
SPS will have done more damage but the other nukers will still be doing damage, and surpass it, unless the SPS got an incredible crit streak and the others don't (I don't see that happening with full buffs, since I have two nukers and access to a 3rd and know how to play/crit will full buffs).
Are you hoping to improve?
What server are you on? I'm transferring back to Bartz this coming Tuesday. StSc friend should be there the next week, and I can log him in to see if you can interrupt it with bare hands.

What if the SPS has a 78 EE as a boxed buffer now what?
Look to the Left under my name and you will see what server I'm on.
He can show me in VoS... in a bit.. now I'm about to have dinner. ;)
I haven't logged in in over a week, and my buffers are deactivated until I am ready to xfer them (SE come back online Friday so I can put her xfer in, OL two weeks later).
I have sold most of my stuff, and my sub's weapon is on a buffer so I don't lose it when I xfer.
Maybe in a year or so, though :) When they finally merge all servers into one, Lol.
I usually keep this account open to chat on the forums, I have only played like 2 of the 6 months I have been on Devianne. One month to PvP when I first xferred (was in Interimo), and another couple weeks to get a couple levels before I xferred back and level my SE to 7x.
what if they all have 78 Boxed EE the sps will still do more dammage over time they all have EE's now no one will run out mp so now what? who is failing?
if the SPS so bad reroll your sub then.

With Equivalent Buffs, any other nuker + Necro has higher sustained damage output than a Spellsinger. The SPS will out-DPS them until it and its EE goes OOM and then the other nukers will keep going becaue their mana efficiency is higher, which means they require less mana per point of damage.
I just said SPS is a strong nuker (for PvP), read the thread. It is the weakest raid nuker, and only stronger than SH/Necro when AEing, where a Sorc is still stronger.
The person said does SPS do High Damage I said no it don't it does over time and yes they run out but over time with they fast casting speed and decent INT they will do more damage over time before they run out.

This one is my fault.
I asked Ashley if the SPS does high damage? It was a question. Lol
This one is my fault.
I asked Ashley if the SPS does high damage? It was a question. Lol
That's fine.
All nukers do high damage, so you have to make comparative observations.
Only if it outgears and/or outlevels the others will an SPS do more damage per nuke than the others, and the chance of someone having Max Water on their armor is exceptionally higher than for Wind or Dark. That not mentioning things like Curse of Doom.
Ok Guys lets be calm and courteous to one another. We're all friends here.
And to answer some questions
Have I lost to a SPS, in my earlier post i said I've never won to a SPS
I fought a SPS 3 times and got cancelled, again and again and again. All I saw were constant flashes of light 'till I saw light coming out of the sky and taking me away
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A SPS can do more damage over time because of it's superior casting speed and it's high chance to land a magic critical, however it also has the lowest mp management making it run out of mp very quickly without being able to self increase their mp.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
A phantom summoner's nightshade with CT2 has recieved focus, deathwish and guidance. along with the other summoner 56 summons recieving their own special buffs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The following magic damage skills
Aqua..w/e, Prominence, hurricane, and death spike all have the base same cast speed, reuse time, and the same power
SH hits harder with hurricane due to it's higher magic attack
SPS hits faster and cools down faster due to it's higher cast speed
Necromancer usually kills other nukers due to its having higher damage with the enemy under curse gloom, it's ability to stop a nuker from casting or doing anything if their close enough, and it's decent cast speed with higher hp/cp
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Um.... necromancers are overpowered, however some people just aren't good with them. Then some people don't know how to fight them.
I laugh when a melee class goes after the summon first and leaves me wide open to gloom, anchor them and destroy them.

Wow SH killing an Sps 3 lvls above him... in what world do you live?
Sps runs out mana very easy i agree. They do less dmg i mean a lot less dmg , i agree.
But due to cast speed you can't win against one!Dont lie!
1v1 None of the other Nukers specially SH can win.If the SH is 4 lvls above the sps and lands a silence...mm yeah maybe then but remember i will interupt every cast you try to make. And i crit more often and for more dmg than youI deleted my SH just because Sps were wiping the floor with me...Yes they are good for sustained dps during sieges and raids , they have body to mind , but if you have a SE/EE during siege , raid , pve ... what differense does it make?
I lvl in VoS solo pretty easy and fast: am walking , i have mana regen all the time , 2 shooting mobs that drop herbs and if i didn't have -10 men it would be even better .
I don't know how old these posts are but any SH is welcome to come VoS and test me :)
And btw , i don't have to have 1900 cast speed to kill and SH i only need 1000 and sth.
I hate summoners though... i just can't win against one.He has to be lower lvl than me and can't play his character. And Sorc can't kill me.

How is it a lie?
When PVPing there's a lot of factors that apply.
3 levels difference or not, you can easily PVP an SPS who doesn't really know how to PVP very well with there character. Even against a SH, who might be awesome with there's!
Gear/PVP exp/SA's/Buffs.. Their all factors that come to play when PVPING & could also make the difference with who survives & who dies!
If silence lands.. you won't worth anything more than a lvl 40 with high m.def.
No. Stupid.
Spellhowler != Necro. Landrate on SH silence is not even comparable to that of a Necro due to target M.Def difference (Curse Gloom). You will get rocked 9/10 times trying to Silence an SPS if the SPS is about same level with Appropriate gear (i.e. not a 77 SPS with Majestic Jewels and a +3 SoM).
Do not assume that Silence is going to land, think about what's going to happen if it gets resisted. That's how you make good PvP decisions. In Mass PvP you can afford a resisted silence because many times the target won't even have you on target, you can't really afford that in a 1v1 against this class because they can also devastate you from debuff range (Cancellation) and closer (Aura Flash).
And.. even if the SH is canceled.. he probably will deal more damage per shot, than a SPS fully buffed.
SPS is more likely to have near-max attribute on their weapon because it's extremely easy to attribute arcana mace for Water Attribute.
On the flip side, Spellsinger casts factorably faster than an SH. Just because they do less damage per nuke, doesn't mean that their DPS isn't >= that of an SH. An SPS has a higher chance to Interrupt a Spellhowler because their nukes are factorably large (not 400 dmg like earlier) and they simply cast faster, by a factorable margin.
If the SH is cancelled... That means nothing. You don't know what was taken off. What if the SPS cancelled off Acumen, Zerk, Empower, Magic Barrier, and Concentration?
79+ SH becomes a really good fight (and hard opponent) for a Mystic Muse, though.
Who hits first wins especially when one guy is leveling and the other is ganking and gets first hit
No, not really, unless it's a strong 79+ nuker hitting another one that has a DC set on or no Elemental Resistance on their S Grade set.
If you watch you CP/HP bars (most PvPers are used to doing that rather actively :P ) and carry pots and elixirs, you can survive and sometimes use the environment to you advantage (i.e. running behind a tree or rock in a place like IoP or FoTD to break their Line of Sight).
Trensharo is 100% right on the SH vs SpS. Pretty much, before vortex crusher, a SpS does more damage per second at a higher chance to interrupt with a higher crit rate... will win all the time. After crusher, it is a pretty even fight, since the SH will hit VERY hard with those two spells, but the SpS still has her advantages. After empower echo and crusher, it pretty much comes down to, if the SpS vortex interrupts the SH vortex, win for SpS. Otherwise, get ready to get two shotted by vortex crusher.
And before anyone says vortex + crusher two shots anyone, that is wrong. I've been shot by a Sorc and SpS before with it, and by a SH with echo. They still hurt, but the SH one hurts like 30-40% more.
Also keep in mind the changes coming up in Garcia Final. Where the cool down of skills are identical for all SH/SPS/Sorc independant of cast speed.
Vector this in too, it is very important, considering you want to do some serious pvping.
Wow SH killing an Sps 3 lvls above him... in what world do you live?

Ok, I'll be glad to put a stamp of finality on this thread. When I'm buffed against another buffed nuker, they will lose. 100% Every time. Don't believe me? I urge you to come to my server with your S-Grade nuker and test me. 80+ please, because I want you to know you never stood a chance in hell.
Let me dispel a few myths that are making you people underestimate the StS
1) We are NOT as dreadfully slow casting as you seem to think. You forget that the biggest damage skill we have, the one that so often makes for a 2 hitter quitter, is INSTANT CAST. I'm talking about Slug, but most of you haven't hit 79 yet, so you wouldn't know this. The difference between the casting speed of my Sts and my brother's MM is negligible in equal buffs. If we cast a nuke on one another starting at the same time, neither will be interrupted because both will land almost EXACTLY at the same time. The difference? Mine hits a LOT harder.
2) Necro is not the end-all-be-all. Once you hit S-grade, your curses will land like crap against anyone in decent S-jewels. If they have boss jewels, you may as well turn tail and run - you won't land anything on them. Guess how many times I've been silenced, Anchored, or CoD'd since I hit S-grade? Don't strain yourself, it's zero. They've tried, they've died. The smart ones just gloom, which still isn't a great land rate at that level, and then try to nuke me out while having their summon take off some of my damage. Unfortunately, with easy to obtain dark resists, and their sub-par skillset (no post-vortex spike damage skill) I just let the CP pots fly and end the fight mostly unharmed. If they don't land gloom, I can save my potions.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, most of you have no real experience in PvP if you discount the fact that you have to out-damage cp pots and elixers/QHPs.
3) I call shenannigans on EVERY ONE of you that claim to beat a SH a grade above you. again, come prove it. If you can land any of your debuffs on me, or cancel ANY of my spells through my self-castable Conc 6 I'll be glad to admit defeat. Keep in mind, I'm going to 2 shot you with Wind Vortex and Slug if you're not well over level 70 and in good jewels.
To the op, Roll either one. I rarely ever use BtM anymore since herbs and walking keep me good on MP. Sorcs hit a bit weaker, and lack a good second element to their nukes (Their fire vs my Wind+Dark) but they also have the easiest stone to farm, so getting 150 fire is easy as hell which will significantly boost your damage. Wind stones are MUCH tougher to get.
Prominence is cooler to look at, and, iirc, you'll have a bigger health pool due to a higher CON value.
Cancel isn't a bad thing to have, either.
But for your own sake, disregard the argument in this thread. It comes from people who either have no endgame experience, haven't played the classes, only played the classes to 76 or so, or just people theorying things out.

Closest to truth in this thread. Just one thing wrong - factor in stones after 76.
Fire stones are a dime a dozen, and they add water resistance when added to armor. Right now a MM hits me like a feather duster. Literally, you'd have to REALLY get me good to break my CP before I kill you, and pray I don't land silence, though I rarely cast it due to its dismal land rate.
Sad to say but, Sorcerer has been nerfed even more.
......
No....
You listed a bunch of nukes that people don't use in PVP, FORGOT to list the important ones (the S-Grade ones), and just generally wasted thread-space.
The list looks like this
Mystic Muse - Water Vortex, Water Vortex Crusher, Hydro Blast, MAYBE Light Vortex for a debuff
Storm Screamer - Wind Vortex, Wind Vortex Slug, Hurricane, MAYBE Dark Vortex and Vamp for a small HP boost/debuff EMPOWERING ECHO!!! (<- HUGE damage boost)
Archmage - Fire Vortex, Fire Vortex Buster, Prominence. No second vortex, or anything else of real value, save Cancel.
Soultaker - Dark Vortex, Death Spike, Vamp Claw, and a summon to take some of the damage for them. Curses that rarely land, and they have to get close to cast.
Who got the shaft? The Necro. No post vortex damage spike, and the skills they DO have, land progressively less as their targets get stronger. God forbid it's a group vs group and a healer erases your summon.

+1 It seems to be, Necro is a powerful class at the beginning, but as they get higher, so do the other classes & the Necro's get weaker!
I think if your going to roll a class, honestly roll a class that you can stand to look at & don't mine the grind! ;)

Tell you Necros to learn to play with Servitors, and to OE their curses and use Gloom.
I land Silence or Doom half the time on S80 nukers (buffed) without Glooming, so there is no such thing as curses that "rarely land". Maybe for an SPS, but not for a Necro (though I have feared (+0) buffed level 80 players in Mass PvP on a 77 MM wiht a +3 SoM), unless you have +0 curses or are 74- PvPing against extremely high level targets.
Also tell them to try toggling Arcane Power (and run GHP) if they have it for debuffs. That's why the skill exist :P
The skills only land progressively less if you allow your skill learn levels (i.e. base land rates) to fall behind. If you keep your skills OE'd to your learn level, you should not have any problems. Most people wait until at least 78 to OE skills (at which time they cannot do many skills cause they have to grind a lot of SP/XP to bring their skills up to par), so they suffer from deplorable landrates at 76-78 (until they OE them) due to the learn level and base land rate being pretty crappy (for their level).
Necros should always keep at least Disease, Silence, Death Spike, and Fear OE'd at each level (you level slower, whaaa, but you are more successful in debuffing). **** like Gloom and Anchor is not high priority, IMO. You should not be depending on Anchor to win PvPs, and Gloom lands way too much without being OE'd (and is instant recast if resisted). It can wait. Silence lands more than Curse of Doom on mage classes at 77+ because the learn level is = Doom (if OE'd appropriately), but the base land rate is higher. You can't confidently OE Curse of Doom until level 78.
Are you speaking as a Necro, or someone who thinks they know about Necros. I see your Sig says Storm Screamer... I have played every nuker class in S Grade, except Sorc (which I can assume is quite similar to a Necro in landrate due to having same M.Atk, and a bit less when you consider Curse Gloom).
The only classes I have problems landing curses on are Swordsingers, Supports in Tallum Robes, and Orc Buffers.
There are always instances where an enemy's gear can really overpower you, but if that is the norm, then you should consider PvPing lower targets. Also tell you Mystic Muser and Arch Mages to learn to cancel enemies that come within that range. That can help too (stripping off M.Def buffs and/or prophecies which give M.Def if ur lucky!)
In group vs. group healers get targeted first if your group is worth anything. They won't have time to erase your summon (unless they gank you in which case you deserved it for not watching you back in war), they will be busy healing themselves (and Curse Disease will half their heals and/or force them to Cleanse i.e. missing at least 1 heal). I use a corrupted man for this reason. It nukes from range, and doesn't have to go in to do damage (Gloom helps it). Cursed Man's stun is not great on targets with stun epics, not to mention brain dead easy to target.
I Curse Disease any target in range, and the group assists the Necro, so if the Healer has time to run up and erase you summon, you are doing something wrong.
All curses except nukes that debuff (Vortex, Frost Bolt, Ice Dagger, Inferno/Blizzard/Demon Wind, etc.) are 600 Range or less, so you have to get just as close for Silence/Slow as a Necro. Difference is the Necro has more tools to disable an enemy, and probably has a better chance to live through it, too. Compare Elemental Nukers to each other, not to a Necro. They aren't even the in the same Archetype.
