It was all a publicity stunt from GM's.
If they really wanted to ban alot of players like they say they do.
We would have seen some improvement.
They should start banning highest lvl players and then work their way to lower lvls.
But when they dont even ban heroes that bot.
That means they just did all the announcements and stuff.
To calm people down for a little, and to make you believe they actually ban bots which they dont do.

Those raid fighters started appearing right after the last patch a couple weeks ago, no clue what they are. Haven't seen them since that first week though.

I started to play again because of the show of GM's doing something, but after walking around the game there are still an overwhelming amount of bots everywhere. Maybe it was just a big show and no go after all :(
well, while i agree it was mostly a show but it did make a not so few ppl uneasy as it showed that they do ban bots.
however there is just too many that is willing to bot and risk bannings for the benefits it give you. it may be just adena for his/her main char or XP that he wants.
as said before in this topic they need to start banning the end game botters and work from there, theres nothing more depressing then to see players who fail at this game the moment walker/*****/sniffer w/e isn't working talking **** with their bot pets in hero.

there are plenty of end game players that dont bot. so stop the qq, in fact the way they made hellbound they reintroduced the legit play, most of hellbound is impossible to bot and they brought back the 9 man party, probably one of the best things theyve done since c2.

HB cant be botted? now that was a new one... i seen meele bot groups run around on HB, not just the easy area near port but arcane, desert and chimeras. they arent common, but they are there.
I must admit that botters are kinda funny. I was watching the Oly last night and some of the guys were getting blown out without knowing what happened to them. Some participants actually got upset asking what they were doing there...twas funny and sad at the same time.

Thanks for the laugh Kagan. Your theory about Hellbound is way off. Yes, you need larger parties, but as you know there are 9 man bot parties there. What have you been protecting?

think the only spot at the moment in HB that you can't bot is inside steel citadel so lol
heat of the desert > bots at chims or desert, and if arcane nucleus is being botted (and not patroled by your tops clans) then there is something wrong with ur server

I have been doing my part to help with the hunt and it's good to know your still at it and my work is not going 2 waste ;)
I applaud the efforts of the GMs, I have seen first hand alot of the problems the GMs face with bot detection, and I feel for them. For those players that are steady complaining about the bots in *insert personal hunting space here*; we all see it everyday, there are only so many spots anyone can hit at one time. GMs do what they can, I happen to believe Spam despises bots as much as I and others like me do.
I have had conversations with bots... no really give it a shot some time it would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

while never missing a target next nearest mob that is not engaged or targeted by a closer player. I have had botters tell me "send me a tell if it happens again I will fix prg" after I kill them for KSing my spawn set. obviously they have an alert sound for PMs. It's kinda funny really they don't actually want to piss off the player base (particularly if said player base is killing their PL session). while I am sure Spam has other methods of testing for live/not live players I can't imagine it's easy to validate a 3rd party software user vs a legit no additional help player. Even the botters know we all can tell they are botting I have read it in the forums where they congregate and discuss botting methods, locations, GM reports etc. I believe NCSoft Austin understands that no one will be paying for an account if the bots aren't at least reduced substantially, because they know MMOs are profitable because it's not fun playing with/against just another AI.

You know that this game has been out for four and a half years now?
Yes, if somebody started half a year ago and now is 80+ main and noble, he definitely found some way of lvling suspiciously fast. But for a player who started back in beta/prelude/c1/c2, it is quite normal to be lvl 80 with one or more 78+ subclasses by now, even without being powerlvld in FoG. Heck, I am 79/78/78/6x, and I consider myself to be lvling **** slow (have not played my main seriously for weeks now).
You can actually calculate how much time you need to get to 78.
Lets take T1. (w/o vitality). And lets take a mage class, because they level a bit faster then melee. Lets also think you have adena and SE for mage buffs. I count like 8-10h per day play.
1. 1-20 - 4 hours.
2. 20-40 - like 2 days.
3. 40-52 - 3 days.
4. 52-56 - 3 days.
5. 56-62 - 5 days.
6. from 62 you will get 80% each day and lowering as you level up.
Taking 70 is like 10-12 days.
Then you will be rather very slow if you don't find good clan/party.
Lets think you found a good clan and exp in fog, or duo/trio in HS. Getting 7x levels can be 1 lvl for 3 days till 76.
76 - 4 days.
77 - 6 days.
Gz you are 78.
Lets sum: ~45 days needed to get to 78, legit way, with good online, OOP buffer or clan party. This can be longer or lesser depends on buffs/party.
1.5 month to 78.
6 months - all subs = 78.
78-79 like 8% per day.
79-80 ~ 1-2% per day.
you can do the math and understand that 78+/78+/78+/78+ doesn't mean person is bot if he plays more that 1 year.

The grind to 78 itself isn't hard. The hard thing is logistic and necessity to rely on the other people. And time spent on activities other than grind.
I mean, I'm 77 on main atm, and I can be 78 in a week or so, even w/o playing 8 hours a day. Just give me a perfect party as soon as I log in, give me adena to buy the gear I still need, don't break parties before my bed time (due to rl reasons, timezone differences or whatever) and it's doable. But in reality I will be really, really happy, if I get to 78 before Christmas.

You might lose a bit of cash in the start, but there are ALOT of people who would play l2 again if there wasnt as many bots in it.

I have been playing this game since open beta, I have moved servers I have done alot of alts, my current Main is at the highest level I have gotten to, 67. I did not bot for even a second on any of my toons. You are fooling yourself in thinking because you don't play 20 hours a day you will "never" get there. It's not how long per day.. it's how long total.

Fyi, this never happened on Aria.. all this achieved there was folks trying to find the gm's and botters stopped botting until the gm(s) were gone and went back at it, none of the known afkers got banned at all.. if known tagged end game bots really got banned on Franz then good for you I guess but somehow I doubt that..

No offense taken, I agree with you and it's the same on all the servers I have been on, my statement was to the guy saying that any high level can't be achieved without playing 20 hours a day. I realize I am not "high" level by todays standards.. but I will be.. eventually. I also aggree that anyone hitting 76/80 in the course of a month or 2 is obviously botting (hell probably 6 months unless they have no school/job/life). When I do hit 76 or 80 and subclass to the 76+ I don't want people assuming I botted just cause I am the level.. it won't be anytime soon but when it happens it would erk me to be told I must have botted cause its impossible any other way.

At least there was a noticable difference on Franz, but yes, they kept going when they figured out the work hours of the GMs.
Now they just keep going indefinately.
1 to 20 can be done in 1 hour with Noob quests with no buffer no extra adena for gear the game provides all you need.

K well as you level up your magical numbers you made up get extremely not inline with reality, but even if we were to use your inaccurate numbers you do understand that to reach level 80 you would need to play L2 for 150 days at 8-10 hours a day with PERFECT circumstances the entire 8-10 hours sorry charlie...... No offense I was around L2 in closed beta (korean version infact) , and the names of many of the heros and n00blese were not around pre ct2..... Heck servers like teon didnt open until what ct2?

Actually the people complaining at L2W and L2S sites are real botters... there's 4 forums I visit frequently(as they were part of my investigation)... and I've reported quite a few bot parties.. and guess what.. they go banned.
The average botter is a stupid person.. that can't do anything on his own.. the pro ones are the difficult to get.. but those don't cry out for "constant parties"... those have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 bot groups running and don't need anyone else.

1-20 and class change - 54 mins - DE mage if you want to know - the key is to know where you are going and what is the fastest route.
You know, L2Monster, this mindset sorta makes me mad, and I've expressed it over and over. So I will do it again.
I am currently level 79 and 90%. I am almost level 80. I have a level 76 first sub and a level 64 second sub. I have never used a third party program. I found myself a good clan who needed my class and we partied on a regular basis. Many that I began playing with have since quit, or they just slowed down their play time. I play normal hours... 2-3 hours a night, if i can, and more so during the weekends. I have played since May of 2005.
So don't give me this crap that you can't be high level and legit. There are many that are. They have a different playstyle than the casual players. But it certainly doesn't mean they don't have a life (I have a rich out of game life) or that they cheat.
In my clan there are many just like me, but a nice group that are higher level than me that all leveled experience point by experience point themselves.

I can vouch for Human Warrior 1-20 including 1st class change taking less than an hour. I've been making 1-2 Human Warriors every week for the last 2 months for clan rep points. 1-18 takes about 30 minutes. Class change quest takes about 30 minutes.

I don't have much time to play, unfortunately.. only lately(since I got an upgrade in my 9-5 job) I've been having weekends and late afternoons to play. So.. I played a lot from work as well.. it helps having a cool job.. and administrating *NIX systems.. where you don't have to touch anything.
All toons were leveled in a completely legit way.
Imagine the lvl I would be.. if I didn't have so many "alts"... yeah.. I suffer like hell to gear them all.. but marketing is good.. specially when you can save 90-95 Mil on a weapon.

I will admit that making announcements and going visible to taunt botters as they are kicked off the server is a strictly for publicity. It only slows me down when I do these things. That is why I (and the other GMs) do "The Show" once a day at most. The announcements don't catch bots. The announcements make the botters with weak minds, scared. It is the least I can do, to add some worry to their lives
We will close any account that is found (and tested) using a bot. Low level or top level Hero/Raider/Clan Leader.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I was still here.

I'm sorry but I don't believe that is correct. I played on Franz for over a year and saw clan RussianMaffia banned 3 or 4 times the same time and you guys reversed the bans everytime. You banned them for the Frintessa Exploit where all of them were in Clan Hall except 1 at port in waiting to port in and all would port in at the same time so they could avoid PVP. You banned around 50 accounts with that exploit, they threatened to get a lawyer to unban them had everyone that got banned with there buffers/mains to sign a petition and you guys reversed it. WE CONSTANTLY everyday petitioned numberous people that were HERO'S BOTTING and you guys banned them only to reverse it when they did the same tactics.
Bots are here to stay there are always going to be farmers/real people playing willing to risk it IMO honestly. But what I don't like is you guys saying one thing and doing another and expecting the community to be happy with your false statements that are proven over and over. I'm sorry post will probably be deleted but I have to try to voice my opinion as I've been a player since Closed Beta. I'm tired of competing with people that will bot/ebay to the top ranks and I can't do anything because they have 5/5 Boss Jewls +10 S Gear/+ 6 S Armor sets and +10 or higher OE'ed skills because they started botting before the rest and can spare to lose the Exp/SP. I make a great amount of money around 3-5bil a month but on Devianne one clan owns the server I can't get my 81 skill book because he wants 20mil for it. I just aint paying it when its around 4 months work, I can't keep blowing up weapons when I'm trying to craft them and like the other day I did 6/7 FAILED S WEAPONS on crafting. You tell me how I'm suppose to beat people that will sell there Company/BMW/etc to dump $40,000+ dollars into the game. I know several people that have done that honestly and its no joke.
Clearly we are not, because the first class change even when you know EXACTLY what to do will typically take 15 minutes or more. I think You are on a different reality. Same offer to you. Pick time and server you get 45 minutes to go from level 1-20 including class change.
Actually it does only take around 45min because I have done it on around 20+ dwarfs making acedemy toons to get points and spoil. I can be lvl 20 in 45 minutes easy.. maybe 1 hour at max I do it almost every other night with a acedemy toon, have you ever read Ellie Belly's guides? Its like 3 quests of killing 1 mob each and your already lvl 18, then do the class change and your 21. Learn what your talking about before you open your mouith because it really does make you look stupid :S
I think its time for NC to change out all of the GM team to someone that actually can do what they say, and that is banning bots.

You know, L2Monster, this mindset sorta makes me mad, and I've expressed it over and over. So I will do it again.
I am currently level 79 and 88.67%. I am almost level 80. I have a level 76 first sub and a level 64 second sub. I have never used a third party program. I found myself a good clan who needed my class and we partied on a regular basis. Many that I began playing with have since quit, or they just slowed down their play time. I play normal hours... 2-3 hours a night, if i can, and moreso during the weekends. I have played since May of 2005.
So don't give me this crap that you can't be high level and legit. There are many that are. They have a different playstyle that the casual players. But it certainly doesn't mean they don't have a life (I have a rich out of game life) or that they cheat.
In my clan there are many just like more, but a nice group that are higher level than me that all leveled experience point by experience point themselves.

I botted my way upto 80 and run a bot train to support my charcter and equip it, and so do most of my friends....apparently everyone is legit! there are no bots in L2!!!
To be honest everyone has muddied the waters with silly things. Like does it really matter when you started playing L2 if we are talking the time it takes to reach level 80? No it really doesnt matter at all. Why? because all that matters is when they changed the level cap from 78-80 and how much play time has been avaiable since then....does it matter how many level 40-50 you have? no of course not because you can level 40 characters from level 1-50 and that is the equivelent of 1 character going from 79-80 (not sure the exact equivelence here just throwing out a number).
I will say this that actually it is easier to level from 1-2 including class quest forgot about the new exp adjustment they give for compelting the class quest. It actually takes longer to go from 1-20 straight up. Also I never said it doesnt take time, I simply said everyone is over exxagerating, which is the point. To be honest like i just said it also happens to be IRRELEVENT when talking about the time it takes to reach level 80-85?
Anyrate please refrain from your attacks, never had I said every last person in l2 botted their way up...but an aweful lot have, or they use bots to fund their main.

In HIGH level ally, GROUPING is a MUST.
Clan is made out from constant groups.
9 ppl groups, that group together and exp together EVERY day. (in my instance now, every day from 18 till 01, SIX hours and exp/exp/exp/pvp, etc).
Everyone shows up, you have party all the time, w/o having need to look for one.
If you don't understand that, then you are ******s and losers.
If you have a good class (i.e. all supports, dagger, archer, mage):
1. Find yourself a good BIG top clan.
2. Find yourself a good constant party.
3. Enjoy the game in all forms and don't whine up. :p
If you want to solo, casual play - don't whine you never get adena/80 level/etc. :mad:

it wasn't our fault for how they had programmed the rules for entering frintezza, you call it exploit but it had been used several times before that on other servers and no one had bothered with it until it was petitioned about it.
they were unbanned because it was never specified as a exploit, the initial ban was because they had detected inconsistances with the port CH -> frint but it was done completely within the rules of the game, poorly set rules/coding but still within the rules and was therefore the ban was invalid.
Anyway, about level and money. not all that have alot of gear is necessary a bot or ebayer. i have reached 82 on my main by doing AoE for the last 2 years and while i havent really played much each day the XP/h i gained have made up for that, but im still suspicious of ppl that reached like 83 or higher, while possible it would require alot of dedication and play time something that i doubt anything but bots really could do.
i gained tons of adena in the late C4/early C5 by selling drac bow recs, also made decent from hero. makeing me enough to get my own zaken and AQ. and last month i gained/used about 3-4 bil adena most trough simple KE farming.
I remember i did 76->77 in 1day (aprox. 15 hours of grinding no Vitality back then). I can still do 1.5 % /day at 79 with no vitality in like 2 hours if i want. I have friends that are lvl 81 and even 82 with bilions of SP and they never botted. U can't say all the high lvls are bots but most of them yea...lots of them on all servers on IoP, Varka/Ketra and Catas/Necros (i mean the high lvl ones) some even spoil S Weapon parts in FoG. What is the reason for high lvl bots to be in game?they make lots of money (S grade arrmor recs/parts , Firestones, Orihalcum and whatever is soo **** expensive these days.)
I also think GM's should check the Zaken/AQ farmers and where does that adena goes.....

im a hierophant at 78, and when i duo an archer at varkas or iop i can get 0.1%/h incl. vitality 2. Same if i go hellbound or some dungeon like mos or IT. I get like 8-13k a mob (without vit), so we have to kill ~10 mobs for a 0,01%. At 79 i get less exp/h then i got at 76 (in fotd). Where do you hunt to get 1.5% in 2h without vitality.

One thing that would be really cool of NCSoft would be for them to post stats (like other MMORPGs do) on bans. I'd be very curious if the "Bot Button" has increased the number of bans/month. I don't really have a sense of how many actual bans there are, though I do agree the most effective way to do them is probably not the GMs logging in.

Even after day ban actions, gm can shout some banned names. We are not interested in x1hj256Bjhgb bans (he is banned - good, but I forget his nick in next 5seconds), but to hear banned people names from top clans/alienses it would be nice.

Only people who intentionally casually play, create 18 million characters, etc etc etc, haven't gotten high level if they have played the game for a few years. (There is nothing wrong with this. L2 has many venues for enjoyment, and not all of them lead to the high-end part of the game)

If u go and kill mobs one by one well that's just not gonna do it ...since NC nerfed number of mobs u can pull in dungeons aoe is not what it was but it's still good ....i exp wherever i can(exept Hellbound - i want some aoe areas inside HB so i can farm S80 stuff- but my class is not very suitable for Hellbount yet) since i have wars with 60% of the server.So u know i kill all Varka Generals field in 2 shots just to give u a familiar example. My class is a pony summoner.

That would be 0 times.. Do you know how many Epics we have of Valakas? 5+ thats because people are buying them from other servers and transfering them. I can Dou in Pagan's with OOP SE/PP wPoF. Titan/BD and I get with Vit 0 around 45k per kill and can bounce between 2 rooms pulling in around 1.5% per hour roughly. Maybe more at lvl 80 try it sometime and you will be amazed with Vit 4 its around 250k - 300k Per kill.

let me ask you where you get your faacts because again it sounds like your just spouting numbers because your upset some clan funded olympiad destroyer is camping oly. all of that is achievable without botting or ebaying. end game clans invest end game adena in these toons. 4 stacked titans can control olympiad. unless youve got reciepts from this guys bank account and proof he actually botted you just sound like some butthurt kid who gets 2 shotted in the oly. titans are also some of the fastest levelers in the game, you should take a trip to forge of the gods.

Sorry that wasn't my point. Before we were xping in hellbound we were doing AOE xp in places like IT/FOG before AOE nerf and pulling/xping from multiple rooms after the nerf. Theres ways only people being at their keyboard can xp that is 2-3x faster than any bot with a perfect setup can xp. And its not just for high level places, theres so many possibilities for low level places. Funny though that people would rather complain about how everyone bots instead of figuring out how to xp well themselves.

devianne has since c3 been a greek-heavy server. it is very well known that these invading greeks came from private servers and were already familiar with walker AND supermans.
the clan i joined in C5 on devianne was proof of it. i was there a week, witnessed no less than 18 characters go from 40 to 75 in literally a week. i had in that time only gained 4 levels (30-34). and i called them on it, was just one guy farming toons up in various trains around the server, all with seemingly fine names.
nice try, but everyone (even us FORMER devianners) know about this. valakas never was defeated there, the greeks just couldnt figure out how to get in i guess.
hero chat (from as far back as Interlude when i left for lionna) was FULL of WTS account/adena shouts. full. not wts Arcanamace, it was WTS ArcanaLord.

This is built into the game, Spud honey. It's midieval in its makeup and the developers intended for this to be the state of affairs. I think they used to fight over control of Elven Ruins even, too.
Like Amazing Man said, if you want that stuff, join a clan that farms it, or if you don't want to do, join a clan who will fight for the right to farm it. It's the way it goes.

Well, Gate chant and Magnus chant spellbooks are available on Dino Island NOT from epic bosses, btw. There is even a DC in our clan that doesn't have it. Why? Cuz no one wants to spend their time in Dino Island because of the low drop rate and very poor xp. The groups that do go there do it out of compassion for the person who needs the book. We have bishops without cleanse for the same reason.

thats just the problem though, Armie. if youre a wartag (i.e. think back to LP vs WO days) if you were in one clan, and fighting a loosing battle to GET these things (who knows what you'd fight for nowadays when everythings for sale already) you wouldnt take in a WO if you were LP and let them have the bit youre controlling. no way.
this is why its so hard on devianne especially. the "controlling clans" just dont control anything, but nobody steps up to fight for what they want. this is how its been ever since they made the AQ drop a ring. for _AGES_ AQ was left to farmers. not bot farmers from greece, the pro asian farmers that flagged when you flagged. that had balls.
nowadays theres seldom a farmer to farm the boss jewels. if anyone does anything its not done by greeks.
they just seem to show up at siege time and for large scale organised pvp. apart from that they buy everything. so devianne's market has steadily increased despite the increased availability of items.
I heard a story about the neutral clans on Hindemith that achieved the goal of coming together and upending the leading clan that had control of all the bosses and castles. That's what L2 is meant to be used for. If you want/need boss jewels, you figure out how to get them. Some people go outside the game for that, and we all acknowledge that that is illegal according to the eula. But other use the very game mechanics for that, come together as a group that once were not unified but now have a common goal to accomplish. It's the way things should be done in Lineage.
I also know a decent number of people on Lionna who changed sides and were welcomed into their former enemy's clan. It has happened; it will always happen.

you just dont give up do you. if you claim this owning of endgame things is acheivable only by end game people then let me show you why on devianne this is not so.
on devianne, particularly, the first new thing (like Drac, S80 etc) is earned by "unclanned" farmers. these guys set up shop in the middle of town. always the same 6 dorfs.

some happy loaded greeks come along. poof, asking price was paid.
then
the warring clans who happen to be 10 hrs BEHIND the greeks log in to see a shop with leftovers, and a sign bearing the title "S80" or some such.
The same could be said about Olympiad, Spud. It's why BlueWolves rarely had heroes... just wasn't worth it to stay up all night for 2 weeks to farm the necessary points. But when they really wanted it, they got it done. Same thing with these epics you speak of. Plan ahead, organize a buyer, etc etc. Come on, Spud. L2 is a world where things like this must be done.
hey i aint complaining about anything armie. i have no goals for L2. i dont want or need anything, i have my A grade and i lead a few clan hunts a few times a month for others needing their stuff. the only thing i MIGHT want is a blue 12 for health SA, but i have done so far without it just fine - in fact all the healers ive grouped with complain already i have too much HP.
im only trying to point out that people like the person in question on devianne have gone for years un-noticed and unpunished.
i have no doubt that when the time comes for me to get subbed that nobody will welcome me into a group to kill baium. but i dont care. i'd only subclass something useless anyway, right kagan?

NF Feeds him even with all his insane gear he's ebayed me and the other titan can't compete everymonth and out point him consistantly because they feed him over 300 points a month on top of what he gets himself just to make sure he keeps hero or he'll leave clan. He recently sold his account stripped to a American player now. Yes I know don't have to prove **** to you because everyone on Devianne knows about it I even got his clan leader to admit to the account being sold ingame petitioned it and the account is still not banned after breaking the EULA. The problem is that we see 90%+++ of the members of those clans exping afk (botting) at various locations (taged or without tag), they even comes running to PK you if you have trained a bot train full of names like "snfcskjse" and they happen to be theirs. You even see them rez the bots and help them start again.
So don't tell us that the clans that has access to all the end game and top gear has worked hard for it because that's just ********. The only thing they have worked hard for is the real life money they spend on all theyr bot trains and ebays.
Sure they make adena by selling epic jewels, but 90% of the chars that are used to farm those bosses are botted up.
Heck on Aria some clan has even managed to farm Zaken with bots (3 human controlled chars and around 10 other chars on bot). If you aren't fast enough to get to Zaken then you will never get him because the bots logs in as soon as Zaken spawns and kills him.
Even Ant Queen is farmed using bots now days.
So again don't tell me that the end game clans has worked hard for it since most of those clans shoudln't even exist in game if the GM's had enforced the EULA at a faster pase and checked up all the end game clans.

tyrants are not openly welcome to antharas baium valakas and frintezza, most warrior/meele classes arent. but i wouldnt know that since i ebayed all those items and i never go to frintezza or antharas or baium.

Really I always used my Tyrant to Slow Baium back in the day was 100% success land rate, then we would PoW him. But hey what do I know.. as titan I was doing more damage then a HE was with +9 Rage/+9 Battle Roar/Cov/Bd/SWS/WL/Frenzy/Zealot/Warrior Haste Ability was only critting Baium for 10k every other swing, my Armor crash was even landing for 2 - 3 secs 1/5 times allowing me to plow him for 3x the damage of a HE. Tyrant has a higher attack speed and 500 crit rate and 3k Pattack which is only a little lower then HE, and double the attack speed.. hmm who does more damage HE > Tyrant or Tyrant > HE?

Fail more. Drac Focus +Hawk. dont need bison for 500 crit rate when 390 will do when hawk offers more advantage to your bow useage.
