tell them to redo the newbie quest with an alt, it's good for 125k in under an hour even for a completely new player.
I soe'd from DO the other day and ended up in DE village (of course). Before I ported out I had a lvl 3 newbie ask me for adena. I asked what exactly he needs adena for, he told me that he needed armor and a weapon. SO, I told him, no....actually I spent the next 15 minutes and showed him how to get a bit of adena, a pile of free shots, free armor and weapons. Then I told him to continue doing the quests that the newbie guide suggests.
I'll check back on him a week or so and see how he made out. With any luck and he sticks to it, he should be about level 30-40. Hell if he didn't make it 20 that day, he won't make it in this game at all!
I say yes, give me your account name and password, then I strip him of his apprentice wand and apprentice tunic, and and and... I take all his 836 adenas! Ah ha! I'm pure evil!
I'd tell him to follow me and pick up my drops.
Especially because in Gracia Final they are going to disappear in 10 min!!!
I remember being very poor, disoriented, in Talking Village when I was about level 15. Some higher level guy ran by me and dropped 10k on the ground and said "take it." I was totally shocked!! It actually made my day.
But usually people asking for money, I don't know, hits me the wrong way. I might go buy them some no grade stuff, maybe, if i was in a good mood.

i never got any handouts back when i started and i sure as hell never had the option of making 200k just by making a lvl 20 alt (which takes 30 mins)
I remember the last newb who asked me for money... he was a fine specimen of humanity.
He was sitting around Dion spamming shout, begging for money for like an hour. In the amount of time he was begging he could have made the money he was asking for on a level 1 alt. I guess he was randomly PMing people too, cuz after a while he PMed me begging for money (and not nicely, either.) When I told him no, that he could have grinded that money by then, he proceeded to cuss me out. And it wasn't the nice kind of cussing, like a drunken-sailor type cussing, no... he made the drunken sailor look like a little old gramma in church. Of course, I blocked him and then reported him.
So yeah, I'm not too fond of people asking for money anymore. :mad:
I gave away 100k once to a lvl 4 or 5 char (back in C5) and 3 days later I see him in full brig set and a +10 or more top d grade weapon exping afk.
After that I have never given away adena to anyone....those that spams trade after I have said "no" once ends up on my blocklist and I train the crap out of them everytime I see them.
i agree i dont give away adena. its hard not to because they may really be noobs and the economy does suck on all servers, but everytime i gave away adena ive seen the scenario above happen. so i dont give handouts anymore
what i do though is give them tips how to make money :)

I would do as im doing in real life ..some advise how to get what they need ..but for god sake ..giving ppl money just spoil them ..they dont want to be creative ..dont want to work ..they just begging because it easier and faster ..no beggars pls ..there is no reason to beg ..specially in game.

I am the same way and will usually give them a huge hepling hand toward moving forward along with showing them what to do and where to go. However I will ignore anyone who asks for Adena. Unless of course I can talk them into leaving a safe zone, then they will get more attention than they wanted.

LOL I just got off the server after some guy PMed me and asked for adena. I looked at hes char and he was in full C grade and had +10 dual storm bringers.
Before I managed to reply he told me that he needed the adena to overenchant stuff...
Eh, it's not always bad to help someone. Longish story, but I'll make it short. Sitting in Gludio selling DSS...oh a little over a year ago, lowbie toon asking for just enough to get back to Kamael island. I watched for a little bit, she wasn't pushy, wasn't nasty about it. So I talked to her a bit about her level, etc. Ended up giving her...100K? I think? Anyways, she decided to join our clan that day, never asked for anything again except advice and we've watched her grow in game to where she is now. Oh and yes, she's still in our clan, she's an officer even.
OTOH, the ones that join my academy and start spamming alliance chat for money get booted if they don't stop. We are willing to help anyone who is helping themselves, but we don't just give money away either. Usually what happens to those guys is 10 people jump in with "what level are you? 22? Ok do this this this and this". Some stay and actually do it, most go to try to find another hand out.
In the old days (C1) I would have helped any1 who asked. Now you can make 100k in 20 mins with newbe quests. So, no adena is coming out of my wh. Not even for you Ashley ^^. I will help you with quests or other ways to make adena. No Beggin plxz.
I would tell them honestly that giving them 100k will not help them in this game.
I give advice and answers to questions to random players--not adena.
Clanmates new to the game? That's different. They get answers, advice, time, and a 'care package' of things they can use but might not be able to afford. After a bit of time they may get loaned gear.
Random strangers? I'd just answer their questions and wish them luck.
