Up until this point I've really not done any pvp. Typically when I do, I die pretty fast.
I've seen some videos of gladiators spamming attacks like crazy (all that require sonic focus) and I can't seem to match the speed these people use them at.
I'm currently lvl 64 and I am hoping to be 66 by the end of the week (yes, I'm a slow leveller -- just read as I will have the ability to have 6 sonic focus instead of 5).
Now from what I've seen so far, I don't stand a chance against most people my clan is at war with (botters, ebayers). Since they're all 78 and using S items I am not stupid enough to think I can go toe-to-toe with them. I do however, want to pull my own weight in PvP.
Currently what I do is:
- Run away and let the S graders tank for a bit
- Charge in using Sonic Move
- switch to my blunt, stun and switch back to my duals
- charge sonic focus a couple times and throw a tss
From there I just spam as much as I can while trying to get my focus back up to throw another TSS.
Problem is that it seems to take me forever to get my focus back up while spamming GCP and using other skills.
My current setup is:
-- Tallum Armour (+1 on some, but mostly +0)
-- Maj jewels (+3 on all)
-- +5 Kesh*Kesh
-- Common Elysian
-- +4Str -4Con tat
Any and all feedback is appreciated. I would prefer to get feedback on how I can do better with my current setup, though. I have about 1.3m to my name right now after getting my Maj jewels, so upgrading anything is out of the question for a while.
Well i'm no expert but a few things you'll find useful is carrying a few of the energystones and throw some sonic storm+blaster and charge up again before getting into the fight close enough for tss and other combos. Being 64 you're not even close to your full potential and if you use sonic move without charging back up fully before you head in you're just wasting precious charges.
You have 5 charges right now? You'll have 7 charges (8 when you hit 79) once you get into 70+ lvls and you'll also have a skill called Duelist spirit at lvl 2 which ups your attackspeed a great deal (and our dmg in pvp). But yeah, general tips would be carry some energy stones (don't need a whole mountain of them, just 100-200 or so and you'll be fine) and use your sonic storm/buster skills while you're waiting for other skills to cool down so you can use 'em again. Sonic storm and buster are so called "free damage" skills cause they dont use your sonic charges at all. Blaster too but thatone also consumes 2 charges.
If you're at range throw sonic storm then blaster, charge twice to get max then run in and slap off a buster before you do tss or dss (or another set of "free damage" skills if you're still not targeted and taking damage and if the skills have reloaded). While waiting for either skill to reload charge back up and use buster/storm/blaster to the best of your ability.
But the very first thing you'll always do in a fight is popping off Duelist Spirit, then War Cry, this to reach your max damage potention for your lvl.
Pvp as a glad at mid lvls is difficult and tricky, even with equal lvl opponents. Actually its fairly tricky to pvp until you get the skill sonic rage. With enough practice though it can be done successfully.
Look at the ammount of charges you have and how much the skills consume and do the math. The outcome you'll want to have is being able to push out the most ammount of damage as fast as possible with minimum charging back up to make each sonic charge as effective as possible. You're gonna have to experiment alot with that yourself. You'll get the hang of it, i'm sure :)
why are you trying stun people that are 78+?
its not going to land unless youre hitting dark elfs or people who are -con and if they have boss jewels you can forget about it all together
getting focus is easy, just hold the f key that you have focus assigned to down until youre at max focus
I agree with most of what has been said but,....as a mid A grade gladi, jumping into the fire of a pvp with s grades is mostly suicide. Unfortunately, us gladi's have been nerfed over time and now hve to reach s grade, 77+, to understand the full potential of the class. I have died so many times that now i just laugh about it.
Fighting S Grades.....do as much damage as possible from a distance. Don't go toe to toe with S Grades. Your clannies should understand this, and maybe save them a clan rep point.
Fighting any other lvl, you just need the practice of pvp. Watch other gladi's around you to see how they fight. Duel as much as you can. Learn the weakness of your opponents, and use it.
btw...as a 78 gladi, i never use a blunt and try to stun, i rely on alot damage as fast as i can dish it out.
I am by no means a PvP expert, but I have been paying attention while I play my gladi (main toon) so take it or leave it my thoughts are...
you should concider making a top A dual set, Tallum*Damascus, gettin it at least to +4 (the haste sa) enchanting your armor up to 4/3/3/3, and this part is debatable by many, I would recommend going Dex instead of str on your tats, I know the damage diff is there with str but with dex you swing faster (with skills this will probably change in Gracia Final with the static cool down of skills) and hit more often. I know the top A duals are expensive, I built and enchanted my set and it cost me about 135mil total (when B weaps were still cheap).
as far as the attack chain goes.. I would have to aggree with previous poster(s) drop the stun attack, and lay into the range damage and recharge if they start to close the gap to do the Triple and double slash after they get to you.. hope for the best from that point. once you get S grade you will be alot more effective, but you can still lay down your share of the damage till then :D
Just gotta dip into a small part of your post antioch and i'm not debating it at all.. i am simply adding a few perspectives to it.
Dex does minimal changes to alot of stats, +crit rate + runspeed and +atkspeed and some other minor changes. The thing is, the +critrate only affects common swings, not skill crits at all. +str on the other hand doesn't just give an increased p.atk it also affects the rate of which sonic skills cna crit. IE TSS crits, blaster, DSS, etc, etc. This is an important thing to consider when choosing between +dex or +str. I dont believe the skill critrate is increased a whole lot, but it is noticable so the choice basically becomes this; Hit *slightly* more often OR crit with sonic skills *slightly* more often.
This is just my personal opinion, with the top haste duals, Tallum heavy +dex isn't needed and +str is prefered. However if you choose majestic +dex could be an option. Like i said though, its just my personal opinion. ^^

No kidding? I didn't realize the +str impacted the skill crit rate, heh, thanks for the input I will scope differences when I get a chance, kinda curious which one of the slight alterations makes the most difference per pvp involvement. I only care because i have found that this game is a game of slight differences... last one standing with 10hp left is still the last one standing ;)
to be honest man, you should not pvp at that level, i know it sucks but being one of those high S graders, you will do about 500dmg to me before you will be killed, and the good players will not attack you till all your friends are dead because you just dont pose much of a threat. my advise is get a minimun of lvl 74 and all skills before you try pvp. and being a glad, lvl 78 is generally a given to join a pvp group....usually.
wish i had something constructive to say, but that is the honest truth.
