Soulbreaker weapon...

Kamael Classes Started Last reply 42 posts
I was just wondering that since soulbreakers are extremly fragile, what sort of weapon SA to choose, if i were to use the same weapon for both pvp and pve. Focus special ability comes in very handy in pve and triggering maximum ability. In pvp it helps only in certain cases (since were skill dependant and very fragile we dont do all that many normal hits, exept maybe vs zerkers to keep them from running).
However health is quite tempting as well, seeing as how i don't pot much in pvp nor would i be capable of carrying many pots. However with the low CON we have the boost we would get ain't that much.

So i was wondering what weapons do you guys use and what do you think of the pros and cons of either SAs
I have a baby SB in his lower forties and I use the Focus SA on his weapon, the reason being that since he is mainly used for the odd kama group or just farming a certain mat when needed, it helps to kill mobs faster. I can only imagine though that if pvp was a priority for me I would look into getting a health weapon. Since their base hp pool is so low.

Like I said though, he isn't my main character so I will let the people that have more experience give you tips.
I would go with health if your going to PvP cause yea, even though 25% boost of something so little is going to be small, your not going to be using much normal attacks in pvp especially being a sb so focus is going to be useless in pvp, so yea health all the way.

If you can get two weapons, 1 for pvp and 1 for pve
vs your own class (oly fight) pick haste.

vs melee, health is a good bet.

vs magic, i'd risk it on Haste.

vs archer, no worries. anything's good. just keep swordshield up. try to get a good augmentation, like a nuke or something.

also beware the overpowered ranged stun that is stunning shot http://www.lineage2.com/images/skill_icons/skill0101.jpg

A stunning blow that inflicts damage to a target with an arrow. Requires a bow. Over-hit is possible.
its only overpowered if youre not 80.
I am a focus fan. I always go focus, but focus IS a PvE augument.

So honestly? It depends. I currently have haste on my SB and it's nice too. Not as nice as Focus would be, but still...

Health is a good PvP augument. So honestly, it all depends. As long as you stay with Focus, Haste or Health really.
its only overpowered if youre not 80.

Your not 80....your not 76

and even if you were 80, a kamael's low con will still get stunned by a good chance getting hit with +'d stun
Firstible Soulbreakers are not that Fragile. Skills like painkiller, SS and a good set of debuffs make us pretty unpredictable, if played right.

Again, depending on your playstyle you choose your weapon, starting from the base that you have only 1 wpn for pve and pvp (coz of high prices), it's an important issue to clarify. I myself am pretty comfortable with Critical damage on my Lacerator, since our critical chance is pretty good with normal SE buffs for example.

The skill set of a soulbreaker does give you the option of finding your target's back to land a Mortal blow with Shining Edge and end a fight quicker (like the DarkFlame/Shining Edge combo that when both land is almost gg to opp), but again, it depends on how good you know you character's strenghts and weaknesses.

Everything they say up my post is correct, but I must tell you to review your playstyle and pick your SA carefully. Feel free to pm me if you want to discuss possible and different playstyles of a SoulBreaker... we are actually quite versatile. Cya!

didn't say theyw ere fragile, just easily stunnable like dark elves

Pound for pound, heath is the best imo. I had Focus at C grade. Focus, then Crit Damage at B grade. I borrowed a White Lightning/Tallum haste at A grade (until I could craft a far superior Crit damage Lacerator/DLE), and I now use a Heath Laevateinn/FB.

The damage increase on elemental weapons allows for -str tats and I have a lot more hp than I would without. More hp/cp is always entirely dependable againsts crits and burst damage (as small an increase as it is). Naturally high crit and attack rate (about 200+ or so with Focus 3) helps make up for the lack of Focus for pve.
I honestly don't miss focus at all with numbers like this. It's certainly not worth the health loss.

Incidentally, the White Lightning (aside from the Laevateinn) is one of the most beautiful blades I have ever seen. I love rapiers in general. Especially the ones with the French names: Colichemarde, Éclair Bijou... sublime.

I said they were fragile. And i still do think they are fragile (aside from SS and painkillers they are free to all damage, and with their fairly low p. def and no hp they will drop easily).
I think i'll probably stick to health once i get enough funds for a DLE :p
The Soul Breaker needs really different weapons for pvp and pve. For pve either a weapon with Focus or if you have a buffer(some of us actually solo without a box!!!!) health or haste are worth looking into. For pve, I'd go health because the name of the game is burst damage and it really helps to take some hits.

Also for pvp since a lot of your attacks are magic based a caster weapon is highly preferred, even in certain pve situations such as fighting angels(Soul of Pain really hurts them with a nuker weapon). As for an SA on a caster weapon you could go the traditional acumen but since you can't chain cast the same spell empower may be worth looking into, especially since you need to get certain debuffs to land such as Death Mark and Surrender to Unholy. Also with a nuker weapon using Curse of Divinity on a fully buffed target can royally hurt. A nice little nuke for mass pvp when you're not stealing buffs(we'll get you either way ;) ).
Ok it's quite simple. PvP go +HP SA. You can say that focus will give you that and haste will give you that, but w/o HP SA you'll drop dead inside 3 seconds by any half-decent DD

Can Kamaels equip magic weapons?

Or are there any conversions from Wizard Tear/SoM/Arcana Mace/etc. to Kamael exclusive weapons?
Yes.

No.

neeeeext

not in the oly.

the thing about soul breakers is that they can pretty much control the oly despite almost any circumstances.

/steal buffs
/slaughter
/collect points
/waffles
By all the comments you have mentioned I have the idea that Health SA is better than focus. In a full party where you have the DD, BD, healer... soulbreaker role is the same as a dagger, with the slighter difference that we can aid in crowd control, steal buffs and use them, fear the opponent, silence, root and slow (slow chance ofc, but can happen) so, survavility seems more important to me than deal damage. I'd let duelists, archers, mages and orcs do that for the party.

We have natural critical chance and damage and with elemental attributes we deal a pretty good damage ourselves... so plz, give me a consistent reason why to put Focus over Health in an overall context, I don't have adena to have 1 weapon for oly and 1 for pve and 1 for pvp... So... plz tell me why would you choose focus over health taking into account my opinion (which is the same as some post above).

Thankx ^^ cya laterz
if you're noble and good enough and geared to take hero every month, that's like 600mil in free money with a minimal amount of points...with how much a soul hound can control the oly, they can easily get a ton more points than necessary and make even more.

then you can afford more weapons.
^^ well, that didn't help at all...
^^ well, that didn't help at all...

because you're not noble or because you don't understand the power of stealing buffs in the oly?

well serelina, i dont know if the OP was referring to the Oly, but i'd say its a bit harder than you make it seem. firstly soulhound are quite squishy. against a Necro it'll be a difficult fight. against a stormscreamer KYAG.

against a EE .... forget it. you cant steal Inquisitor or arcane agi. all one would need was a holy AM, and trance/inqui/dead.

controlling the Oly is harder than you make it out to be, is all i am saying. some classes can put up a crazy fight.

yeah...pretty much nothing can beat an ee at the moment, all things being equal.

but you can't deny that soul hounds are pretty top-tier when played by a truly skilled player.
I didn't mean as oly weapon, rather as pvp/pve (cant afford 2 wepps).

As for oly, necro or stormscreamer you mentioned will go down without breaking a sweat spud. Just use painkillers and your target is dead before it wears off(try to silence a necro) :) Only ones a soulbreaker will lose to (imo) is EE and definetally zerker. Can't comment on trickster, havent fought yet, but with my lvl 69 soulbreaker in bw, +4kesh + focus i have killed S grade daggers, archers and tyrants (tyrants are a close fight). So yeah, soulbreaker dominates olympiad. The weapon of choice if you are noblesse is +health. Soulbreakers are so squishy so you will need the extra health even in pve quite often.

kamaels vs tanks, orc warriors, stunning warriors, and PR and HE have a very, very hard time. Especially those with fast run speed and/or good distance attacks.
The setup I use on my soulbreaker is a +6 bw light set
and a +5 tallum blade conversion with haste.

The +6 Bw light set gives quite a good boost in HP and
helps tons with the mdef, reuse of skills and low pdef
of the class.

I am planning on getting a focus weapon though.
Quite honestly for pvp health might be better, but the
pve bonus that focus gives just cannot get ignored.

If you only have one weapon for both, go with focus
and start making a +6 bw light set. That armor set
helps on every end of the soulbreaker class and at
+6 it has almost the pdef of a drac light. (just not
the elemental resist ability.)

Instead of going an armor with fighterboni and a
health weapon, go with a +6 bw light for the
hp,pdef, mdef, cast speed and focus SA on the weapon.
Has any soulbreaker tried stealing buffs from mobs that buff themselves? like i know in catacombs some of the nonsided argo mobs self buff, and places like VoS where everything buffs
pretty sure you can steal them from raid bosses, too.
I've tried many times to steal buffs from mobs right after they buff themselves and have yet to receive one from them.
I have tried to steal their zerk or their UD. Never managed to either :(
You can't steal bufs from amob even though you see them casting zerk or haste or whatever. It only works for pvp, like disarm.

And serelina, your previous comment didn't help at all, not because I'm not a noble or that I don't understand the power of stealing buffs (coz I play my SB good)... simply because you didn't answer my question at all ^^ I still don't have a solid answer on why focus over health weapon. That's all... XD
here's the simple answer: buffs are everything in this game.

in the olympiad, if you steal all of their buffs and you still have buffs, you basically win as long as you can do the damage.

it's my opinion that the olympiad should be all self-buffs and no restriction on total number of buffs allowed specifically because it gimps certain classes to the point of stupidity...like prophet.

hence...health will keep you alive a bit longer but with how fast a SB hits, focus is just incredible on rapiers.
Thanks ^^ I don't intend to participate in olympiads because I'm not a noble and even if I were, It's not one of my priorities... Nevertheless, I am more concerned in mass pvp where survavility is more important. With SE buffs, furious soul and songs I get about 316 critical rate (no focus on my lacerator). Imo, more than enough to actually do a good dm, specially If you have elemental on your weapon.

So I will try to aim for health ^^ cya

Disarm on mobs = - P.atk

confirm :)
How much %?? and land rate? since SB only get disarm lvl.1 ^^
hmm whats the crit rate max

i always thought of 250 because i didnt go past that yet

and you said you got 361
500 iirc. Full buffed Archers/Tyrants for example can get there (or close enough).
crit rate is max is 500 as stated.

the way crit works is pretty easy, actually: it's % based. 250 crit = 25% and so on. 1000 crit would be 100% crit.

that's why augmenting for focus and all that junk is so broken...if you can get 3 +12 crit augments and a passive focus, you're getting an extra 7-10% crit rate.

Nah, I got to like 415 with Song of Hunter on my Dagger once.

And bisoning Tyrants get to 500. Haven't seen anything MORE tahn 500 so I guess that's the cap.
I got ~400 crit rate on my Zerker ^.^ (full buff)

For my 6x SB i use wpn with Focus - for PVE its best

cant say much about end-game pvp wpn for SB

but i am sure it MUST have 150 dark element :P
How much %?? and land rate? since SB only get disarm lvl.1 ^^

I don't sure about % and I'm Domm bringer...

I have disarm lv 7, when it landed

It work like "power break" on mobs [and raids also work too] reduce dmg like ~~20% [need test about it again]

btw, SB didn't care about disarm lv 1 on mobs :/ they just spam TT and SE = dead ^^
+ the disarm on mobs doesnt last quite long it reduces p attack but for short time maybe 2-4 seconds
