I think many people were made aware that all the stockings were getting deleted when the event ends on the 30th. I on the other hand scrambled to open my inventory full of stockings just so I could take a chance at the +10 weapon before it gets deleted anyway. Unfortunately I'm running around giran and I see people with buy stores and sell stores up with these bloody stockings.
I don't care about the weapon exchange ticket, the best part about this event was the buff scrolls and clearly you can still utilize these buff scrolls but unfortunately I opened it all already because I thought it was supposed to get deleted.
Well I played L2 long enough to know that they don't give a ****, but who else feels the same way? =D
I loved the event dont get me wrong, I think it is one of the best if not the best ever.
I also think it was very wrong to mislead everyone into thinking there last chance at awesome buffs, ++++weapons, and a possible +10 perma weapon was before server maintainance today.
I was one of the many that blew through stockings last night getting the best weapon I could get for my last bit of uber xping. This is a real kick in the tenders!!!
Either continue the event with santa still giving out stockings or delete every single one of them like you said you would.

This is a christmas event. If they can stop christmas hats from being worn the rest of the year, there is enough reason to believe that they would get rid of the christmas event after christmas was over. I loved this event a lot, and its the best one they had in a while.
The servers came back on today and they had to restart it again to get rid of the npc's. When the servers came back up the second time I was thinking that they were gonna get rid of the event completely but there's stockings everywhere still. Who cares about the weapons anyway, I have 150 element.

In that case I want all of my money back because I can't make fireworks anymore.. I have 100's of firework mats. And I have a dagger which I could have put MM on. I also had about 100 pollen from the event before last which I couldn't use... oh but wait.. they re-used the event so I could.. then they deleted it all.
It's NOT the end of the world and it's NOT going to stop you leveling or playing the game.
when they removed the Might Mortal SA, they didnt remove all the existing dagger with the SA. no, thye just made it to they werent obtainable again.
same with the santa stockings - if im right nobodys gonna get NEW ones now, but can still open existing ones.
You can't compare that at all? People spent money to put that SA on, and they removed it from game. These are event items were talking about, it's like comparing apples to oranges there.

Without those MAX buff scrolls, I would not have made it to 76 today on the archer.
And is it me or are those buffs, I don't know, addictive?!? Game speed with the buffs vs. game speed without the buffs is almost night and day. You never realize how slow an HE is until the Light Armor Event scroll expires mid-stride. Please bring back the MAX buff scrolls soon. Pleeeaaaaaaase!

Are you people really stupid or something? Here is the point, it said it was going to be REMOVED and they are still THERE. They said one thing, and did another. I don't care if it's about stockings, or daggers, or whatever.
Exactly, and if NCSoft had not LIED about "we will delete all gift sets during the downtime", there would not have been people USING UP ALL THEIR F-ING GIFT SETS right before the downtime, and now those people would be still able to use the buff scrolls for olympiad, festivals or plain old xping. I blew up ten gift sets right before downtime, trying to maybe get a +10 weapon, instead of (so I thought) just losing the gift sets.
Had I known they would not be deleted, I could have had 10x8=80 extra hours of santa-powered xp on HB. But now I lost those gift sets, and all the people who never read event descriptions etc. laugh at me and link me their gift sets in chat. This makes me angry. It is not good when I am angry.
And to all those clowns telling me "well the NPC are always there for another week after every event": a.) the NPC are GONE. b.) it is not about the NPC anyway, it is about the EVENT ITEMS. c.) unlike all other events so far, it was explicitly stated that the items would be deleted. They are still there right now. This is a bug or simply incompetence on the side of NCSoft, and worst of all it gives some players a big advantage in competitive stuff like pvp. I would maybe have saved a gift set for the next sieges, for example. Now I probably have to face other players using buff scrolls, while I do not have access to them anymore.
The people who complain here are simply angry because, once again, NCSoft says one thing and does something else.

i blew all my 10 stockings yesterday assuming they would be deleted only to have to log in today and buy fresh ones for 5x the cost
god help us if NC decides to keep them in game though
noone has a chance in PVP or oly against targets rocking those buffs and you can bet the farmers will have sell shops up for a hundred mil by the end of the week

I don't remember how the other "offical announcement" about those fireworks and pollen items, but the "official announcement" for this event stated that they are removing the stockings and santa during maintanence.
It's like I'm going to a bank and they said they are going to give me 6.5% interest on my term deposit; but at the end they gave me no interest at all for my deposit and still waiting for the bank's offical comment on where did the interest went..... How should a customer feel about that?
I really liked and enjoyed this event more than most of the others previous ones, but a big kick in the *** at the end of the event (either a screw up during maintanence or a typo mistake in the offical santa event page) and still no officals comment on what happened, makes me very disappointed with NCsoft.
I see an "emergency maintenance" coming to remove the stockings.
they sure as hell should do that asap or reimburse the ppl who used up all their stockings due to their incompetence to properly communicate what would be removed & what would stay ingame after the maintenance.
Stockings and everything inside them will dissapear eventually... so I dunno what's this post about. There's no npc to trade weapons... buffscroll will last only 8 hours once they are open... so? try to see the positive way.

This misinformation really blows. I used up over 20 gift sets yesterday to get an agathion and gave away the rest. I would not have done so if I had known I could have kept using them.
What worse is that it gives a HUGE advantage to people who still have gifts. They will keep using the buff scrolls to win in pvp and olympiad for months to come.
Please remove the gift sets like you have stated you would!

they've been selling for 5-7 mil and that's a total of 360-514 million adena that a completely legit person could have definitely used to finish their IC set.

if they have said they wouldn't remove them, prices would not have reached 7 mil...
Again, they said they were removing them and didn't. Anyone that argues the other way, you are just making yourself look like an idiot. Anyone who says it isn't a big deal, leave this thread, because that isn't what it is about, and you can't understand the real issue.
There are only 2 ways to make this right. 1. Delete all of the santa gifts like they claimed they would. 2. Match all santa gifts people blew up in the last (insert time here, 24, 36, 48, 72 hours) before the end of the event. I know 2 poses its own problems but at least it would help to stop some of the complaining from people like myself who used over 10 stockings for no reason now. PLEASE DELETE THE ITEMS LIKE YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO.
I'm getting annoyed. Although this event was finally something I could agree with once more (except for my still lingering desire for a good plot-event, but that's another story), the did not follow through with the event details... which are there so everyone can plain accordingly. I mean, even the original details advertised before the event started... changed the moment the event started. At least this time they put red ***UPDATED*** marks instead of leaving it how it was. But still, the end of the event rolled through and they screwed up peoples plans actually giving an advantage to those who had no clue what was going on anyway, because they never look at the main website.
That's the next problem with Events NCsoft needs to focus on.

I thought you played on Sayha? For the past week or so they've been selling for 150-300k on Sayha. I know, because I've been buying them to level up a character who's weapon I sold a few months back to help gear another character.

When they removed that sa as an option, ncsoft did exactly what they said they were going to do, unlike in this case. These sockings should be taken out asap imo, whoever at ncsoft posted they were going to be removed from game is at fault, not the players that used them up or saved them.
i do play on sieghardt...but since yesterday's down time, i've seen them (as well as reports from other servers) for over 5 mil.
I've seen a bunch of people selling them for 5 mil. I've also seen a bunch of shops trying to sell them for 2mil, people aren't buying it for that price either. Just because a couple people set up shops doesn't mean they actually sell for that, go find the buy shops if you want to see what people will actually pay.
i'm just going by what i saw in town, then checking back in an hour or so and what's still there and what's gone...and santa sets are selling for that much based on my observations.
During the maintenance cycle on 12/30/08 the Saving Santa event gift sets were not deleted from player inventory as was initially posted in the event information given on the Lineage 2 website. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and will be removing these items during the maintenance on 1/6/09.
The main problem is the fact that the NPCs aren't around for you to fully use the rewards he socks give.
The socks should have been untradable too. 5 mill for god sake.
As an event, it was pretty poor but no worse than getting bits of a Christmas tree.
Instead of a sock, you should have been given a vitality or sp bonus for x minutes. Santa only appeared while hunting so it would have been used up and full benefit gained.

I used the buff scrolls when I could but with only 2 stockings throughout the event, they only helped me get my glad from 61 to 62.
The only weapon token I got was last night "after" the NPCs had gone. So its unusable. Hence my previous reply.
there should have been a live gm santa giving personalized stockings to the live people...that way the gm's could choose who got what and screw the bots.
Oh for petes sake people look in the announcements section its stated right there by kinslon or whatever his name is they made a mistake "OMG they cant do that!!" and they are correcting it but they are not going to correct it until the next maintenance period. Dont get all bum hurt otay jeez i used up 50 of the suckers and im fine with them forgetting to remove them it was the holiday season crap happens...

Maybe the buff (the transformation you could get for free from the event npc) did not get removed during the maintenance. I have a few alts which I only log in to move stuff around and which still have the 1h santa buff on their buff bar.
Correct. If you were transformed using the NPC option when the downtime took place you will still be transformed when logging in. Obviously once the time's up you will transform back. No benefits from this transformation, p and matk are low and you don't get any skills.
yes but the stick was it's own weapon so i didn't know if it was part of the skin of the xformation...which, from a programming standpoint, is sort of stupid.
