So, I'm new to L2....

I just finished installing (updating now), and I dunno what race/class to be.

Both Swordsinger and Bladedancer seem cool to me (I know these aren't available until much later, though), but some of the other classes seem fun, too. Since I'm indecisive by nature, I wanted some second opinions on what class would be good for a less experienced player such as myself.

Also, which server should I play on?
I recommend Bounty Hunter (Dwarf), and try Sayha. It's a Win-Win!

Well, I don't really want to play a farming-oriented class.
BD gets groups alot easier but both are important at end game
sws is alot harder to solo than BD due to their lack of offensive skills but both are pretty good classes
So both aren't overly complicated for newer players?

So, Swordsingers are geared more towards support, while Bladedancers are geared a little more towards offense/combat?

That's good to know.
it would help if we knew what archetype you usually parade in when you play other games.
Well, it really depends on the game for me. In most games, I prefer melee or ranged fighters, but I also like having support abilities too. (Most games lack a melee-support class).
you'd enjoy the WarCrier then. or if you want to play something with some STRONG backbone, play a Soulbreaker. i say the Male gender of Soulhound is a better breed, better base stats.
BD.
Soulbreaker is a Kamael class, right?

I guess I could try it.

Any last minute suggestions before I start playing? (Server reccomendations, anyone...?)
Bladedancer is perfect for you if you like both meele and support. Easy to lvl solo and also easy to find a party. Besides, dual sworsd are cool :D
Yeah, the dual swords were one of the things that drew me to Bladedancer, as well.

Well, both Soulbreaker and Bladedancer look cool to me...
well,i am new to l2 too and i wanna help me choose between soulbreaker and arbalester :D i really like them both but i cant decide
I need to decide now, cause I want to start playing. >_>

**** my indecisiveness. :(

Both sound pretty cool to me, but I'm leaning slightly toward Bladedancer...

EDIT: I've decided on Bladedancer, for now.
not the end of the world if you don't like the class
you don't really get a feel for what a BD is until the high 40's but like SWS they have 2 minuet party buffs which are essential at end game

the difference between BD and SWS is that BD only get's duel sword mastery and SWS can use whatever they want (2 handed sword prolly best though)
BD has more offensive type dances while SWS has more defensive songs - except hunter which increases crit rate and skill cool down songs which are getting a bit of a nerf next chronicle
BD also has a skill called hex which lowers the pdef/mdef of a target making mob killing alot easier

i don't take kameals seriously and i always thought they were added to game just to give dorfs something to kill but they do have some pretty cool skills
don't play a kamael...there are those who love them but they're in denial.

also, if y'all play on sayha, you can join our academy and get a circlet and we'll help you out with everything you'd ever want to know.
I made a Dark Elf Fighter on Sayha. I have a couple questions....

1. How do I raise my stats? I'm level 9 and my stats appear to still be at their base values. (i.e. STR, INT, etc.)

2. How do I learn new skills?
3. What's SP for?
pm Verthande in-game and we'll get you into our academy and teach you everything you'd ever want to know.
no stats in L2
you can modify stats slightly with tats and armor but you are stuck with what you have

sp is for learning skills and you do so at your races trainer
i've have claimed this one so...you know...back up off my kool-aid!

<3 your twirling finger
I would think BD is a decent choice. I think they can take decent damage while dealing decent damage. I always suggest new players to the game make a fighter of some sort so they aren't constantly dying and losing interest. One downside is you get used to being able to take that amount of damage and when you make a difffrent class you sometimes forget you can't handle as much so be careful.

The newbie guide in your starter town has 3 quests you can do that will get you too lvl 18 in about an hour or so. Also once at 18 i suggest hitting gludio and trying to get into a kamaloka once a day. At that lvl you can get about 2 lvls from one kama.

Verth is pretty cool. if you have any questions hit him up or you can mail me on Joanofarc or Karpathian and I can help ya out. If you can get into a clan with academy get a sponsor and do the quest for clan oath armor. Its not top D but its a full set of decent d grade armor for pretty cheap. i think it is like 800 D crystals and the quest takes about 20 min's or so. Also a clan can help ya with any questions that come up and give ya ideas on good hunting spots. I think the best hunting spot right now for like 15-20 is out of the Kamael Village. Stronghold 3 i believe, nermils cave or something like that. Fast XP and you shoud have no probs being a DE fighter.
thanks for that.

i *am* sort of a vast, bottomless pit of random knowledge, aren't i?
Alrighty, thanks for the help, everyone! :D
still waiting on your pm...i'm offline for a few hours but i'll be on almost all night tonight.
fighting with support

Blade dancer (offensive stackable party dances)
Sword singer (defensive stackable party songs)
Warcryer (fighter oriented party buffs)
Overlord (mage oriented clan buffs)
Soul Breaker (lesser support single target buffs with magic utility)
Warsmith (stackable weapon/armor differiented single target buffs)
--Summoner (support comes from 56 summons)
Phantom S
Elemental S
Warlock

Inspector** (party stackable buffs)

** Must obtain all subs on kamael class to obtain (not worth it imo)
So I'm level 18 now. I should do Kamaloka to level now?

Also, I PM'd Verthande but I got no reply back.
Yeah start gettting into Kama's if you can. the 23 and 26 are in Gludio......you ca only do it once a day per toon
I am on HeidiVeisen right now in game if you need any help
Is there a fast way to get to Gludio? It looks pretty far away from all of the newbie villages...
BD and SwS are both good. The SwS is highly under-rated IMO.
I know it's after the battle but i would have strongly suggested a Soulbreaker for a pure newbie.

Reason is that they've got a bit of every other classe's gameplay!
It's fairly perfect if you wanna experience something general : they've got self-buffs (empower, haste, unique kama "zerk without cons", speed buff toggle, unholy armor & weapon increase), party buffs (Dark atk, passive Atk increase - a scary one!), debuffs (surrender to unholy, death mark, DOTs), nuke (AoE, single target), warrior skill atk (from the front and front your back as well!!), dagger type skills & atks (crit rate, DPS & backstab like). On top of that, each kills increase a special "charging system" that allows to boost in 1 or serveral bursts, your skills DPS.

It's simple, past level 40 they shine!
I 've got a 52 kama alt and my 3 bars are all field with unique skills.. that I am all using. DPS wise, they are as strong as a dagger, they got a huge versatiliy with their nukes & debuff.. it's simply the funniest class I've played after my Summoner that is. I made a duel with a same level Tyrant friend, both using +12 Bgrd santa weapon and Santa buff : he won but he had like 200 hp left.. he was kinda surprised that I could cut through his +7k HP (dunno of his CP) so fast.

Also, they only use one type of armor (light) and for a Soulbreaker, one type of weapon that is unique to their class (rapier) but can be the result of a slef skill that transform any 1hand sword into a rapier (and the opposite is true). Good thing is that light armors and 1hand sword are the most common equip you'll find arround. So economically wise, as a noob you'll only have to focus/care about one type of equipment. ;)

Seriously, Kama rock and i would strongly advise newbies to try them out. Arbalester seem lame though , since they've got less diversity in skill.. to think that also most of their skills are about traps - fairly useless in L2 mecanics - makes them a little irrelevant compared to their Soulbreaker sisters.
Find the gate keeper in the town your in. you can port anywhere for free up to lvl 41
Where does everyone usually gather for parties for the Lv 23 Kama?

I'm Lv 19 now, btw.
i'm around...my cpu melted to the heat sink in my PC so i'm on a very old laptop for a while. i'm confined to buying/selling/crafting at the moment so i'm sometimes not at the keyboard.

your name in-game is zace?
Zacewing.
23 and 26 kama - Gludio
33 and 36 Kama - Dion
43 and 46 Kama - Heine
53 and 56 Kama - Oren
63 and 66 Kama - Schuttgart
73 and 76 kama - Rune

You have to be within 5 levels for each kama and it can be done once per day. If you want to know how long till you can do it again type /instancezone
you forgot the gracia 2 ones...but they're all 29, 39, etc. and in the same towns as the other clusters.

they're also insanely hard...still working on solo'ing the 29. i'll figure out how to do it, one day.
Where does the game save screenshots to? Cause I can't find a screenshot storage space in the L2 folder.
L2/system
Thanks. :)

I'll probably be coming on again in the nexxt 10 or so minutes.
i'm doing outside work today but i'll be on sporadically...i'll get ahold of you as soon as i have a minute free.

You talking the Palika ones? yeah they are very tough. i wouldn't suggest a new new player try one till they get a bit more experience.

well, they were put in at the same time as the pailaka quests were, but they're still koalas.
Well, I don't really want to play a farming-oriented class.

you will probably have to farm something, no matter what class you end up going with. Otherwise, you might be broke 4ever. :(

there are ways around that but i'ma try and steer him away from that...course though with the spam for it as soon as you log in (i think it's the gm's behind it) there's not much we can do but persuade him that legit and bottom of the l2 food chain is better.
