Favorite Tank Class

I saw this in another boards and saw the discussion quite interesting so I'm going to try a few here in the ol L2 boards so...

Vote your favorite tank and feel free to discuss why. :)
Paladin.
Reasoning? DA is too dark for my tastes, TK is too elfish to feel like he can tank anything and SK is again too dark.
Nice reasoning ? I thought not, but still, Paladin.
SK is the most interesting of all the tanks. Tanks in general have boring as hell play styles. The SK came along and mixed that up completely and added something entirely new. Pally is awesome but bland, TK is solid but dull, and DA is just a Pally with a Great Wolf :P (okay, maybe not).

While it's probably the weakest of all the tanks, it is still head and shoulders above the rest for me. SK forever!
I agree that SK seems to have the most diverse game style and feeling of all, but it just doesn't click for me... Dunno if I am making sense, probably not, but that's the whole point. ^^
Sk+1 <3
Sk seems most fun to play..
Seems like Dark>light from the results so far
8light 10dark
TK is too elfish to tank anything?

i was tanking longhorn golkonda at level 68, son.
Paladin is the best at tanking, even if he looses a raid he can help heal with sacrifice/ToL/Divine Line.
i never really lost aggro with a raid on my TK so i wouldn't know ;)
Ive only ever lost two raids off me and both were to my wolf LMAO shoulda seen the healer trying to save my couragous wolf ;)
for raids, i use my wolf but with no ss.
SK
you just like all dark elves so you don't count ;)

I Picked PW for Daggers and WC for Buffers :p
DA > All.

Only because i have a DA..
SK.

Tank that can hex, that about sums it up.

you have to admit, despite personal preferances, that the SK is the most versatile tank...even more-so when you consider that in this game offense is king.

I was talking about "feeling" not actual skill. Elf... Meh, I think you got it now.
Shilien knight ftw o_o
Shilien knight ftw o_o

where've you been, cuba??
I have played DA, TK and SK and out of those 3 I would say SK.
SK for me :) I like classes that gives you feeling of doing smth :) SK is one of those classes.
I like more SK, but I think Paladin is the best tank :).

As for tanking paladin wins ofc, because it has best survivebility.

Yeah, that's why :).

TK are pretty good at surviving, too.
TK is super-hero tank. :D

AI + TOL > ToL
AI + TOL > ToL

you forgot:

life cubic
aegis passive
more shield def rate
fastest mp regen of any melee in the game
highest m.def in the game

and i'm to understand our 81 skills aren't too shabby, either.
TK gets a 2nd Touch of Life. Pallie can come back from the dead though, so thats pretty awesome.
i fix that by just not dying in the first place. ;)
I would have to say SK is the most offensive tank, so it surely seems like the most fun to play. The DA and the Paladin share top spot at defensive tanks (majesty, shield stun), Paladin is a little ahead due to his healing abilities and angelic icon, which give him some extra survivability, while DA with his panther comes way ahead offensively. Now the TK, supposedly the best defensive tank is in my opinion the worst of all the tanks. Defensively because we don't have majesty (our +15mdef at full buffs is hardly a superior mdef....), offensively because our only offensive skill is tribunal and we have the lowest patt amongst all mellee classes. The TK is better only in AOE parties due to his aegis passive.

Although I have played only TK and DA (low lvls), I would have to say DA for a balanced tank and SK for a toon which can do both tanking and killing.
well TK used to be absolute best defensive tank just because we could pretty much hold guard stance outright...unfortunatly it costs 65+ mp per tick now.

SK could do that too, so by that logic, SK was a absolute best defensive tank along with TK. Fact is, Guard stance was never very good past A grade because any human tank wearing IC ended up with more before-shield pdef than elven tanks with Guard Stance on. Their buff Majesty works on a % of base pdef, where guard stance is a static increase. The better the armor you are wearing, the worse guard stance is, and the better majesty is.

The only things that make TK defensive at all are 2 Touch of Life skills and the healing cubic. Aside from that DE and LE have virtually identical pools of base stats, enabling them to both have virtually identical shield block rates, pdef, and HP.

If I put +4 CON -4 STR, +1 DEX -1 STR, Dyes on an SK, they become a TK in terms of base stats, and visa-versa for a TK to become an SK. Only difference is an SK has some offensive skills to use early on (debuffs), and a TK has nothing at all worth using until 78 when they get their first Touch of Life.
also, the day they gave our aegis passive to SK's was one of the most sad days in my l2 career.
Dark Avenger :)

That was back in C3 if I'm not mistaken. Weren't you not even playing a tank then?
my original c1 toons were sws, ES, and TK.

i quit playing a few weeks after c4 and came back in like june of '08.
