This is just for the heck of it, a nice little fun thread
wolf, hands down
While i lub my wolf to death i aswell voted wind hatchling once they get their next evolution (praying it happens soon ><) they will be a force with stun and UD ^^
Ok, i am in need of your mental support here.

i used to play the game back when it first came out. was playing it for 2 years than in between wow came and i moved their along side with my friends after insisting not to. anyway, i came back to bring up some memories and i really like the idea of staying.

i remember quite a few things from when i used to play however, i never really had a good chance leveling my pet before.

decided its time to do so.

i am lvl 29, and i did the wolf pet quest. now, i know theres the lvl 35 quest for the hatchling why i am writing this post among a couple more reasons, and i will get to the point...

it seems rather and please forgive me when i say, Imp-ossible to level it. i got it to lvl 17 but plase god help me, it cost me in a lot of exhaustion, mental effort, pain of any kind you could imagine ( and i assume many of you felt the same way ). i was hoping to get some help with information about how do i raise my pet in the best way.

i am not wealthy when it comes to money, and it cost a lot to get my pet to level up. i tried lvl 27-30 mobs but my pet gets like 0.30% ( best case ) i tried lvl 19 mobs and it gets 0.17-0.20%. i get no drops hence i dont make any money but only waste money. right now im still using my cupon weapons but it will run out faster than it seems.

should i or should i not level my pet? should i wait for the hatchling and start from there? should i invest on my wolf ? is there any light in the end of this darkest tunnel?

please, dont save with words... i would love to hear your oppinion and experience from what you know and have had in the past or the present.

my greatest gratitude.

Roy
First off its best if you pick one pet or the other to start with wolf or hatchling. Both are just as easy as the other to level. Wolf = DD at later levels and at 70 is a mount (baring a rune or aden clan hall); Hatchling=at lvl 55 are a Mount(Twilight is this only) and small DD. There is the hope that in later patches striders will come to surpass the wolf in ability.

You will level your pet much faster with a character which is of equal or near equal level. Because you currently are lvl 29 and your pet is lvl 17 there is a level penalty on your pet causing it to gain less experience (this is to keep a level 80 from leveling pets at an extremely fast rate.)

To level pets its best too keep them from attacking now as they will not do too much to assist you and risk there own death. If however you are a tank class and wanting the added dd just make sure to use hate to keep the little buggers alive lol. I leveled my wolf in the aforementioned way, with my paly.

Easiest way IMO is to take your wolf or hatchling with you to the catacombs and set it outside the room out of agro range, it will gain exp while you kill and prevent it from taking any deaths along the way; on top of that is the added bonus of not needing to purchase shots/armor/weapons for the pet, saving you more $ then you will realize when you start ;).

I do suggest if your more interested in leveling a hatchling then the wolf, to not level the wolf atm as he is stealing your exp and slowing you down from reaching the higher levels.

**Kamas are a great way to level pets as well; park them in a corner and go off and kill the kama so long as its in exp range (not sure if you go opposite corners if it will lose exp) and the kama boss will never attack the pet.**
Xentheous,

i appreciate your fast respond.
hm, my first question in refering to your post would be, what catacombs are we talking about? is it the Dark elf path area to the south west you're refering to? it's been long since i remembered the shortcuts for lineage 2.

and as in the general leveling advice for the pet wolf ( i think i will go with that one because after a short research i did on the forums it seems to be getting a lot of recommendations to go with a wolf as a knight temple ), i didnt really miss anything now havent i? i AM suppose to go to lower level monsters and just grind it until it levels to around my own level?

i really appreciate your help in advance, the pet idea gave me a major boost in motivation to play lineage 2 again, as weird as it sounds.

sincerely yours,

Roy

The catacombs/Necropolis you want to go to will depend on your level. Go to the priest of dawn and sign up for the competition (at work cant remember the line but its i want to participate) then head to either Necropolis of Sacrifice(Levels 20-29 mobs) south of Gludin near Langk Lizardman dwelling or go to Heratics Catacomb(Levels 30-39 mobs) which is outside dion before the Execution grounds. **My recommendation is Heratics more exp** Check your maps you'll see them.

Another way to check which of these is in your level range is to purchase a record of the seven signs from the priest of dawn its only 500adena so i recommend it. inside the scroll by right click on it there will be 3 tabs click on the middle one and seal of avarice/gnosis (cant think of names its 4 am hehe) in their description you will see the level ranges and catacomb/necropolis names.

These catacombs house mobs that are X4 hps which means takes a bit to kill them and it will take some time to get used to the aggro inside there are 2 types of rooms. 1 holds 8 mobs 1 holds 4 mobs inside them. If you want easy going take the 4 mob room until you think you got the handle then head to a 8 mob room. there are hallways outside each room leave your pet wolf in the hallway as he will be safe there by using the stay command i think its the first in the option on the actions bar of the pet window. Then go about killing. there are two quests you will want while your down in the necropolis or catacombs one is from the gatekeeper at the entrance (This gives you Blank Scrolls which can be sold or used later) and one is from the statue in the first room after you teleport into the catacomb or necropolis (This gives dimensional Fragments useful for later levels doing instance areas)

Hope that helps :)
Stop spamming polls jerk.
Stop spamming polls jerk.

Wow, tough crowd.
Stop spamming polls jerk.

Actually, That poll helped me a lot deciding what pet i would like.

you might want to get your attitude checked.

well, i think that answer the dweling area catacombs place thingie underwanter i went into. this Ziggie guy want to be human thing thingie gave me a quest to kill whatever its inside ( i think ) but it wont let me actually INSIDE to do the quest. perhaps that answers a lot of my questions regarding the irony of the quest.

thank you, your reply should give me an idea of how should i do it. i sure hope leveling the pet will grow fruits because it takes me around 2-3 hours for 1 level if i am really focusing on grinding and assuming the pet doesnt die. i get around 0.18-0.22% per monster around my pet's level so it's a bit frustrating. needed someone to talk to about this just to know i am not going mental over the pet facts and how scary it is to actually level one.

once again, thank you. hope you don't mind i'll stick around if i have any further questions. hope you'll do the same.

Gratefuly yours,

Roy
