elemental theory??

Hey,

Got a question about this whole elemental attribute story on S items.
So assume I have neutral skills and I cast them against a neutral target (no weakness/resist), does it make any difference what elemental attribute i have on weapon?

I play a kamael so normally i would dark for the simple reason of me having surrender to dark and only dark skils.

Please explain why for example all Drac bows i see have fire on them when there are not that many fire weak mobs and nor are any archery skills fire
PvP. Simple.
care to elaborate?
my questionw as quite detailed
Normal physical hits are elementaly neutral, but if you use a buff or weapon to increase your elemental rating your normal hits automatically gain that alignment and thus benefit from the weapon's element. (e.g. if you have 150 fire and hit a "neutral" mob you will do more dmg)

Physical skills are usually neutral (except a few) but can be aligned to a certain element (except dark/holy) by enchanting. Hence archers/daggers and most other DDs can choose one element and enchant their skills for that, efficiently doubling their damage against a neutral target.

The reason why many weapons are fire/water is because those stones have long been the easiest to get (nowadays dark/holy are just as easy and wind/earth aren't hard either given you can hunt HB). For pve it doesn't really make a difference what element you take (except for dark, that one mostly blows :P )
well i play a kamael, that had all dark attacks and a surrender to dark, dark toggle and dark buff :D
it seems just normal to continue the line :D
Any clue if kamael physical skills are by default neutral or dark also?

Anyways S for grinding seems a bit pricey. I am still a few lvls away form S, but was curious how the whole thing worked
Fire stones are easier to get. People care more about damage in PvP than they do in PvE.

kamael melee skills are neutral and cant be enchanted for elemental attrbiute, so sucks -.-
My fingers are still crossed for Gracia Final. Apparently Kamael have some attribute for enchantment. Apparently there is even a 'dark' in there (Dark Smash, what a surprise...).

I have 3 giant books wating for +1 Dark on Checkmate, Shining Edge, and X3 Thrust (hopefully :P)! Anyone have any info on the Korean retail game about exactly what new SB enchants are available?

kamael skillsa re dark
kamael skillsa re dark

some kamael nukes are dark, but kamael skills are not dark and some of the nukes are not dark either (I have 76+ SB)
I play a SB too, and I have a quesiton regarding this... if you use the dark buffs and normal hit a non-elemental weak mob, it does more damage... so if weapon gets Dark elemental, it should hit harder too (both in pvp and pve)... right or wrong? This should apply for skills to... ^^

it works for normal hits (both pvp/pve) but it doesnt work for skills
The element buffs on non-elemental weapons don't increase damage on it's own, unless there is an inherent weakness in the target from what I've seen. It works on elemental weapons as these get Dark/Holy/etc. 'P. Atk'. I imagine it states 'p atk' because it already works for magic, regardless of weapon type.

Elemental Attribute will increase the melee damage you do regardless of whether or not the mob is weak or strong to an element. With 150 Attribute you still get a factorable increase on mobs that have resistance to the attribute.

Skills do not gain a damage bonus unless theya re same element as the attribute on the weapon. For example, a Sorc with a Water mace will not get any extra damage from it. They'll have better melee, but mages don't melee. Most melee skills have to be OE'd, while most nukes have an innate attribute (some drains/nukes are non-attributed like the 68/72 nuker fusions, and Steal Essence, so they get no bonus damage from attribute).

Kamael have some Dark Skills, but not all of them are dore (aforementioned).

NCSoft calls it P.Atk and P.Def on the weapon, but it doesn't matter. The attribute will always apply to melee hits, and with 150 attribute you will almost always get a bonus, unless the the person you are hitting has an S Grade set with full Resist to that element on. No mob has that much Resist, even if they are resistant to that element.
I think FotD vampires could have such a resit. I need 2 hurricanes or 4-5 death spikes to kill the same mob. Its crazy damage reduction.

I don't think you understood what I wrote.

I said Elemental buffs on non-elemental weapons don't increase damage. I mentioned the 'p atk' thing because elemental buffs increase spell damage regardless of the weapon. I do indeed know that elemental weapons increase damage period.

Holy and Dark Weapon give you Elemental P.Atk on you weapon.

If you buff it up and look at your status screen, you will notice your Attribute Says Holy/Dark and 20 across from it.

Maybe they don't give dmg boost, though. I dunno. It's only 20 attribute, so it doesn't matter, Lol.

They always exploit mob weakness (Sacred/Dark weakness), so that's about all that matters. 20 attribute on neutral mobs wouldn't be a factorable increase anyways.

I know the Attribute from Dark Weapon stacks with weapon attribute.
Element buffs do increase dmg on non attributed weapons when attacking neutral mobs. I've tested it when I started farming my fire stones and the HW crys (30 attribute) definately increased the dmg on IoP.
Here is sort of a related question I have. You said a Sorc doesn't get a damage increase with a water mace, because their skills are aligned fire. Well, in reality, a Sorc actually will do less (yes, and I mean a lot less) damage with a +150 water mace, than a +0 fire mace. So does this mean if a fighter enchanted a skill for something like... fire, and had any other element on their weapon, their skill would do even less damage than it did before a 150 weapon and enchanting it? Anyone tested this?
